Oceanside at Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort Ratings and Reviews
Girl's kick off December holiday lunch. Great Cosmo's at bar (thanks Crystal)- lovely poolside lunch. Everyone enjoyed their order. Crab dip appetizer is fantastic. Chef was kind enough to come out and give us the recipe. Can't beat the view or ambience on a warm day.
We didn’t think our dinner would be as amazing it was because of the size of the location and where it was. Holy cow we’re we wrong. From the bread to the desert everything was absolutely amazing. We are staying an extra night at the Omni and plan to go there two days in a row! Great job Oceanside
We ate here while staying at the Omni. Made 7pm reservations, but they were gracious to welcome us 30 minutes early.
Fabulous waiter! Sorry if I got the name wrong (Alex, I think). Attentive and personable. So happy to create us non-alcoholic beverages.
The Red Quinoa with Roasted Corn and Mushrooms was outstanding. The New York Strip with Mashed Potatoes just as good.
But the Honey Crusted Ice Cream Sundae was an absolute surprise! A never ending bowl of vanilla ice cream and crispy toffee treat and drizzled with a caramel sauce!
Definitely worth trying. I imagine it's very busy at times. We were lucky to enjoy it on the quiet side. Thank you!
The food was good, over priced, but to be expected at an Omni. It was the service that was completely underwhelming. It took our waiter 10 minutes to come to the table, it look another to get a drink and place our order. The food was fast to come out, my order was wrong, but an easy fix and it was all tasty. The biggest issue was that after our food was delivered, that was the last time we saw our waiter! Need another drink? Too bad. Want to order dessert? Not happening. We sat there for 20 minutes after finishing to get our check and that was only after flagging down the waiter. I expect much, much better from the Omni, especially if they are charging $15 for a Cuban sandwich!
This is beautiful place right by the pool and ocean. A casual setting good for family outings, but still providing a gourmet meal. I had a salad and the chop steak, which were both excellent. I also had desert, which was ice cream with a honey brittle on top. Delicious! The waiter was outstanding. Would definitely recommend!
The primary complaint I have is that we weren't seated promptly when we arrived a little ahead of our reserved time. We were first told that we would not be seated before our reservation time and we should wait at the bar. We weren't asked for a phone number or given a device, just told that someone would come to get us. Eventually we checked back with the hostess and were told that the table wasn't ready. By that time it was 20 minutes past the reservation time. While we were waiting at the outdoor bar we were being bitten by what seemed to be fleas. Once seated in the half full restaurant the server was very attentive. Oceanside imay be a good place for a poolside lunch but I wouldn't recommend it for dinner. A little more organization would have been helpful.
We ate outside and had a gorgeous view of the ocean. Waitress was attentive and willing to accommodate. Food was good but not great. Would have enjoyed the option of a simpler preparation of seafood. The oysters and grouper were smothered in a heavy cheese sauce that was too salty.
I ordered a filet minion done medium my husband ordered New York strip done medium. Both steaks came well. No pink at all. We both were starving so we ate them anyway. My husband would never return a thing. I wanted to return mine but I was starving and did not want to wait.
The fish was very dry the stake was worse, the servers uniforms were very dirty and the place was full of bugs and flies.
I did not eat my food at all.
The poor server she tried her best to make it up and did not charge us for cake since it was my wife's birthday, but the cake was worse than the meal, I ate some just so she dose not feel so bad.
This place could've been great but the management is to blame.
Time for new MGR. New food and re-train the staff
Won't be staying at this resort since the food is not up to standards.
Vacations are about good company great food nice view
You can't feed people garbage and expect them to be happy
Waiters were not attentive. Plates were not cleared from table prior to bring main course. Wasted $100 there the only thing that was worth it was spending quality time with my wife. Will not recommend and will not come back. Mushrooms were sloppy in the way it was cut, cooked and served. Calamari as well is served very sloppy the best thing of the calamari are the jalapeños served in it, the sauce is not a calamari sauce, I can't even describe the flavor of it. We left more than half of the food on the table. Servers are not hospitable until you tell them you are not spending anymore. Waited over 15 minutes for the check after asking for it. Plates were served out of order to the wrong person, appetizers came out and were staked in front of my wife to the point where I could not reach my water or even talk to her comfortably. What tops the icing on the cake is that when the server came out to bring the plate he expected me to make room on the table so he could set the plate down. I literally stared at him letting him know I was not going to move a muscle to fix their sloppy serving etiquette. I am a prior restaurant owner who started waiting tables and learned all the ins and out of the business.
THIS WEEKEND GET AWAY WAS A BIRTHDAY RETREAT FOR MY LOVELY WIFE. AND, I SUPPOSE MY EXPECTATIONS FOR AN ON PROPERTY SEASIDE RESTAURANT AT WHAT I THOUGHT WOULD BE A HIGH END RESORT WERE JUST WAY TOO HIGH.THE FOOD WAS NOT BAD. NOT EXCEPTIONAL. BUT, NOT BAD. THE SERVICE HOWEVER WAS POOR AT BEST FROM THE GET GO! I GUESS WE WERE INTERRUPTING SOMETHING MORE IMPORTANT THAN GREETING RESERVATION HOLDING GUEST FOR THE HOSTESS. HER DEMEANOR WAS INDIFFERENT AT BEST. AND FINDING OUT OUR ROOM NUMBER SEEMED TO BE MORE IMPORTANT THAN SAYING HELLO OR ANYTHING ELSE RESEMBLING A COURTEOUS GREETING. SHE THEN SIMPLY WALKED OFF OBVIOUSLY ASSUMING WE WERE FOLLOWING.WITH NO OTHER WORDS EXCHANGED,SHE JUST DISAPPEARED. THE YOUNG MAN WHO FILLED OUR WATER GLASSES SEEMED TO BE COMPLETELY FLABBERGASTED WHEN I COVERED MY WATER GLASS WITH MY HAND AND SAID NO WATER PLEASE.POOR KID DID'NT KNOW WHETHER TO INSIST OR TURN AND RUN. OUR WAITRESS WAS POLITE BUT,CLEARLY UNTRAINED,AND REMAINED SCARCE THROUGHOUT OUR DINNER. THE MANAGER(JASON) WAS VERY NICE AND DID AT LEAST CHECK ON US ONCE. THE BUILDING SEEMED TO BE A POOL HOUSE THAT HAD BEEN TURNED INTO A RESTAURANT.(WITHOUT MANY CHANGES MIGHT I ADD). BUT,THE ONE THING THAT STANDS OUT FROM THE EVENING HAS TO BE THE AMBIANCE. AND THAT'S NOT A COMPLIMENT. EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS PLACE SAYS JAMAICA (MANN). THE MUSIC(WHICH WAS WAY TOO LOUD),THE SERVERS(WHO WERE ALMOST ALL ISLANDERS),THE FOOD PRESENTATION, AND THE OUTSIDE SCENERY. MY SUGGESTION WOULD BE FOR THEM TO COMPLETE THE EXPERIENCE BY PLANTS AND DECORATIONS OF THE ISLANDS.OVERALL, A DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE. OF COURSE I MUST ADMIT, I DO HAVE A NEGATIVE BIAS DUE TO MY EXTREME DISAPPOINTMENT IN THE RESORT OVERALL! A STAY AT A MOTEL 6 IN DAYTONA WOULD HAVE BEEN MONEY MUCH BETTER SPENT! IN ONE WORD....SAD!
The food at Oceanside was very good. However, the service was in need of significant improvement. We sat outside to avoid being around a loud party inside. On the deck, the bench seating was low and quite uncomfortable. The cushions appeared quite old and worn. After we were seated for awhile, our server came to our table. She offered no greeting and did not tell us her name. Instead, the first words out of her mouth were, "are you ready to order?" When our food arrived, the side dish of whipped potatoes did not have a serving utensil. After a few minutes, a manager came to see if everything was satisfactory. I asked her for a spoon for the potatoes and if we could have some bread, since none had been brought before our meal. After we were done eating, the server never offered dessert which we were going to order. After we had paid, there was no "thank you" or invitation to return.
As we were driving back to our villa, I got an email notification from Opentable stating the restaurant had canceled our dinner reservation and we would not be awarded any points for visit. I called the restaurant and asked to speak to a manager. She acknowledged the reservation was canceled, apologized, and said she would correct it. She did not, so I had to contact Opentable directly to get my points.
We had a reservations for 7:15. We arrived on time to find our table had been given away. The hostess told us that we would be seated in 20 minutes but as we looked around the dining room it was clear that ever table had been seated recently. Only one table had any food and most had just been served water and were waiting on their drink order to arrive. Every table except one ( with the exception of the large groups which were not complete) had menus.
We were not going to be seated for at least 45 minutes. The entire experience was disappointing. We left and went to another establishment. Why make a reservation if the restaurant won't hold your table when someone walks in?
I have dined here many times over the last 4 years. For lunch and dinner. Most of the time it has been a good experience. Recently they made a change to one of our favs the calamari and shrimp. It now doesn't include shrimp and they try to get a way with adding a ton of jelapenos to make it look more full. I order it without those because for the price I want real food. The servers sadly are not all good with English and this is not their fault. They should not be put in such a situation and neither should I for the price I pay to be here on holiday. This restaurant has gone down hill with the food and service over last couple years. I will say the view is the best thing going.
Was close to 45 min after being seated before we got any food. Waitress reported chef threw out ticket. Peach Salad nothing special. Ordered chicken dinner, 1 piece wasn't cooked through. Asparagus were good. Key lime pie interesting, tho why candied orange rinds were on top is puzzling. Best part was location in the hotel.
