Oceanos Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Visited Oceano’s for a post Valentines dinner with my wife; venue is very nice and since it was a Friday evening reservation, the restaurant became crowded very quickly. Although the food was tasty, the service and overall experience left much to be desired. We noticed three couples who were seated well after us, receive their food first - one of which ordered the exact same appetizer as us and that seemed unfair. It took 43 minutes after we were seated for us to finally receive our appetizers - part of me wants to give the benefit of the doubt here, since they were very busy, but this was something that could not go unnoticed. We had the impression that people were being prioritized based on their looks/attire/air of importance? There are far too many restaurants in the area for us to give this place a second chance.
Valentines Day so service understandably slow and tables packed in close.
Crab cakes best we’ve ever had. Octopus also very good. $69 cold seafood platter a real disappointment. Clams & oysters were fine but shrimp & half lobster were pitiful. Tasteless & watery. Almost felt like the were previously cooked and then frozen and thawed. A real failure and enough reason not to return. Too many better seafood places in Bergen County to come back here.
Best seafood Ive had in awhile. The Black Sea Bass was amazing as was my wifes swordfish. Get the Oceanos sampler , great oyaters, clams, shrimp and a half a lobster. Place is very nice and the service was good , especially for it being Valentines day. Will be back.
We go to Oceanos at least 6x a year and we were even there on New Year's Eve this year. We always enjoy our meal and always get excellent service. We are big fish eaters and there is a lot of variety to choose from - from swordfish to scallops to bronzino, red snapper and more, there is a lot on the regular menu as well as offered in their specials. I had the swordfish for the first time and thought it was delicious; our friends got a scallops special and loved it. They are also willing to make substitutions or to modify a dish if requested. This is one of our favorite places for a Saturday evening dinner out with friends.
Place was packed and they sat us at a table in the bar area which was fine. We had 8 pm reservations and there wasn't an empty table. The service was excellent and we weren't rushed which was nice. Grilled octopus is excellent and expensive. Wife had a salad and the Chilean sea bass and thought both were very good. I got the lamb chops, they were good but I think they are better at their sister restaurant Taverna Mykonos. Overall, it was a good experience and I would go back.
My girlfriend and I were seated in the bar area. Not my first choice and something to note for future visits. Having said that, the food and the service were outstanding! Quite possibly the best wood-grilled swordfish and grilled octopus we have ever eaten. We will be returning again and again!
Overall a wonderful experience. Exceptional food and service. The Grilled Octopus was the best we've had! My wife and I both had the Sea Bass and Lobster tail special and this also was truly "special". It was my wife's Birthday and our waitress, Emily, who was great, brought us a Greek complimentary dessert that was delicious.
at this time (12/25;X'Mas day) too much customers so that one(woman) front person managing and following service was slow step to us, we just waiting at a front but she said to me waiting at wall site. also, the other late appointment customer has been already get sets assign by her.
Finally we chose setting to bar site and much enjoy It.
We were there for a birthday celebration. The food was well prepared, and nicely arranged. The staff was courteous and attentive, in spite of it being crowded. We arrived early, because traffic was lighter than expected, but were seated immediately anyway.
I would consider this a special occasion restaurant, since the prices were high. There were many fish offerings, and portions were generous. The bread basket came quickly, and the olives arrived at the same time.
The "birthday boy" (my husband) got a special birthday dessert, served by a quietly singing waiter, which was appreciated.
great food. I really enjoyed everything. I went with my husband and my mom, and we ordered Greek salad to start (standard meal), I ordered arctic char for my mom (amazing, rich, very flavored), I ordered the sesame salmon, also amazing, and my husband had scallops. All cooked to perfection. since it was Xmas weekend, we also ordered dessert and we really loved the warm custard (I forgot the Greek name). Overall great food, great service. I would go back. Just make reservations, it looked packed.
