Oceano Bistro - Clayton
We LOVE Oceano
Where in Missouri can you get soft shell crab? Oceano Bistro is where! Excellent food and service. Amer Abouwardah is an excellent host.
Our go-to place for seafood. The food and service is top-notch.
Today we went again to Ocean Bistro, this time to celebrate our 9 month anniversary, and it was fabulous.
Calamari to start, followed by chicken soup, rainbow trout and final creme brûlée and decaf and double espresso.
We had a place on the sunny porch and it was fabulous. Excellent service.
First time we went in for a quick bite, both in our training suites as we were in St. Louis just for a couple of days and were just settling in our rental house.
Yes Ocean Bistro will stay in our list of restaurants to go and visit from time to time. Last time they didn’t had creme brûlée... só that changed... maybe next time ... Liquor 43!!!
Came here to celebrate a graduation with my family and had a great time! The food was excellent and the service was beyond exceptional, some of the best service I’ve ever experienced. It’s a bit pricey, but well worth it for special occasions.
Have been to Oceano several times since our daughter was a freshmen at Wash U. Only fitting to have one of her graduation meals here. Every meal has been wonderful. My parents, who have traveled extensively, proclaimed the Shrimp Scampi as the best they have ever had. Robert was, in a word, phenomenal.
We visit at 12:15 p.m. on mother's day and was seated right beside the entrance door, probably due to me making a late reservation. I think my rating would have been a 5 on any other day.
Loved it!!!! My waiter was awesome!!!! Will be back
Our food was excellent. I especially loved my lobster 🦞 tails and it was a perfect place to celebrate Mother’s Day.
The only option available was the buffet ($55 per person) and the food was average.
This should have been communicated when the reservation was made. Several tables around us were complaining about the same issue and two actually left when finding this out.
This is the place to visit when class and cuisine is what I need. The Virtuoso martini is the best. Mothers day brunch is always exceptional.
Went for Mother’s Day brunch. $55/person was a bit of a shock, but this was our first time eating at Oceano and previous reviews were all 4+stars so we gave it a chance. The buffet was advertised to contain 100+ items. False! I would describe the buffet as a mediocre hotel $25 buffet. For a seafood place, we expected decent seafood. False! Shrimp were small, oysters were really fishy and not at all good, the crab legs were decent. No other fish choices visible. The service was not good, we had a stack of dirty plates a few times and waited for our server several times outside the ‘normal’ service time for drinks and the bill. Once the bill arrived we were also shocked to learn that coffee and juice was NOT covered in the $55. The mimosas were smallish but pretty good and the Bloody Mary was really pretty good. Not a good spot for a special Mother’s Day!!
Delicious salmon and grouper entrees. Great service
The waiter was excellent! He went the extra mile as we had a luncheon for my mother of "89" Mother's Day outing on the Saturday before Mother's Day. The reason we picked the restaurant was my mother loves "crab legs". The menu did not show crab legs for a luncheon but was going to be provided for the day of "Mother's Day'. He asked the kitchen and the waiter brought my mother a plate of crab legs for her luncheon. If you make the customer happy they will definitely come back and spread the word of good service. The waiter could of said we don't serve crab legs in the middle of the afternoon and they are only served on "Mother's Day", but he didn't because he knew this is the reason we came to the restaurant. Thank you.
Nice, comfortable restaurant with excellent seafood.
Great as always.
Great as usual
The service was great. The food was delightful. Our table “out on the porch” was quiet. No complaints except for the pricing of the wine. Lagaria is a substandard Pinot Grigio. It costs $7.99 a bottle (by the bottle) at Total Wine, yet you are charging $13 per glass. That is highway robbery!
We all know that we are going to pay at least double the cost of wine at a restaurant, but never expect to pay more per glass than an entire bottle of wine would cost. That’s called a rip off!
Consistently good food and service.
I especially like to sit by open windows.
Very disappointed The fish… Especially your special which was so expensive for the halibut and really could not even eat a little bit of it. Sea Bass Was it just basically OK. We probably will not go back.
The staff was very accommodating. They split our meals so my gf and I could have a little of both dishes. The waitress was very helpful and nice. The food was delicious. We will definitely go back.
Excellent service and great timing on the courses of the meal. Salmon and sea bass were fantastic and the bread pudding was some of the best I’ve ever had.
The crab chowder is delicious. Unlike anything I've ever had. My father's pork chop was excellent. Very nice server.
Celebrating a birthday. Had to wait for a third party to arrive and servers never rushed us. Great service from waiter, Sam, and management. Food was very good, especially on a busy Friday night. Atmosphere very comfortable and inviting. Will definitely return.
Happy Hour was great! Our waiter was super attentive and had great feedback with our questions about the menu. There is a whole kobe burger on the HH Menu that is delicious. We also had the crab cakes (zero filler only real crab!) which were great. The diner and bar areas were busy but not ridiculous, so it was easy to have a convo with my wife, but not have to shout. Great/Positive energy in the room. The location is right next to several other great restaurants so it's just a good vibe all around. Will be back with more people to enjoy Oceano
Our family attended Easter brunch here, and it was VERY disappointing! The food was of a subpar quality, and generally unappetizing. One positive item on the brunch line was the caesar salad. It was very good. There were plain pancakes and omelets by special order, which was fine if your server told you about it. However, they didn't provide maple syrup, just some hideous corn syrup. I've enjoyed having dinner or brunch here in the past, although my husband has always disliked this place.
Maybe. Brunch at $55 pricey and expect excellent seafood but crab legs were partially frozen and squishy/watery, sea bass only fair, no beverage included. Tenderloin and shrimp delicious. Service great.
Oceano Bistro is an outstanding dining experience in every aspect, and I stated this to the owner Amer Abouwardah when we left the restaurant.
Our meal was outstanding. We are New York foodies, and we could not have been happier with our dinner. Would definitely return the next time we are in St. Louis.
I was expecting really great seafood and it was just run of the mill. We got other entrees too which were just bland and not anything special. I would recommend Red Lobster before this place to be honest. The ambiance was the best thing about this place.
Excellence in service and dinning experience!
Enjoyable atmosphere. Very friendly and staff professionalism is apparent throughout the evening!
You can always depend on outstanding food and service and Oceano. It is one of our favorite restaurants. They do it right!
I’ve been here a few times now and this place never disappoints. Great food great service and great atmosphere. I went out of my box today and had the Szechuan quinoa with shrimp, broccoli, peppers and squash and it was great!
We again enjoyed Oceano Bistro. We ordered two fish dishes and chicken, and everyone was highly satisfied. As they should be, the meals were served hot. Not always assured these days. Two miscues by our server which always irritate me. I had to ask the prices of every "special." Why servers don't disclose the prices without questioning is beyond me. Do they think they will sell more "specials?" To me it's a sign of laziness or sloppy and un-wise commercial handling of customers. Secondly, I was asked when I ordered a bottle of beer whether I wanted a glass. Minor I know, but I want to ask, "Really? In a restaurant with entrees of $25 to $40 I am asked whether I want a glass?"
Yet overall, a highly recommended restaurant that knows how to cook fish.
One of the best dining experiences I’ve had in St. Louis in a long time! The service was amazing as was the quality of the food. We will be returning soon!
Our group of 6 had a 7:30 pm reservation on Saturday night. We were seated promptly. Wine was ordered and received. Our inexperienced server was an issue. He had minimal knowledge of the menu and timing. We waited 20+ minutes for an order of 18 oysters, only be told at that point "Bad news, we only have 6 oysters". When they appeared 15 minutes later, there were 8! When asked the ingredients in the roasted garlic potato puree, he replied "potatoes?" We also had a side order of grilled seasonal vegetables come out as an appetizer. Again, likely the inexperienced waiter. The food was fine, the atmosphere quiet but the service was definitely lacking for the price. Would I go back? Probably, but not with guests.
Wonderful time! I recommend the crab cakes and the scallops! Everything was cooked to perfection! Service was spot on! I will recommend this place to all my friends!
WE had a great time on a Saturday night...Our waiter was new...but he knew all the off menu items, and I decided to try the pasta and seafood....WE will be coming again, and have been many times
Great meal. Gluten free flourless cake was the best I've ever had.
