Oceano Bistro - Clayton
Our family attended Easter brunch here, and it was VERY disappointing! The food was of a subpar quality, and generally unappetizing. One positive item on the brunch line was the caesar salad. It was very good. There were plain pancakes and omelets by special order, which was fine if your server told you about it. However, they didn't provide maple syrup, just some hideous corn syrup. I've enjoyed having dinner or brunch here in the past, although my husband has always disliked this place.
Maybe. Brunch at $55 pricey and expect excellent seafood but crab legs were partially frozen and squishy/watery, sea bass only fair, no beverage included. Tenderloin and shrimp delicious. Service great.
Oceano Bistro is an outstanding dining experience in every aspect, and I stated this to the owner Amer Abouwardah when we left the restaurant.
Our meal was outstanding. We are New York foodies, and we could not have been happier with our dinner. Would definitely return the next time we are in St. Louis.
I was expecting really great seafood and it was just run of the mill. We got other entrees too which were just bland and not anything special. I would recommend Red Lobster before this place to be honest. The ambiance was the best thing about this place.
Excellence in service and dinning experience!
Enjoyable atmosphere. Very friendly and staff professionalism is apparent throughout the evening!
You can always depend on outstanding food and service and Oceano. It is one of our favorite restaurants. They do it right!
I’ve been here a few times now and this place never disappoints. Great food great service and great atmosphere. I went out of my box today and had the Szechuan quinoa with shrimp, broccoli, peppers and squash and it was great!
We again enjoyed Oceano Bistro. We ordered two fish dishes and chicken, and everyone was highly satisfied. As they should be, the meals were served hot. Not always assured these days. Two miscues by our server which always irritate me. I had to ask the prices of every "special." Why servers don't disclose the prices without questioning is beyond me. Do they think they will sell more "specials?" To me it's a sign of laziness or sloppy and un-wise commercial handling of customers. Secondly, I was asked when I ordered a bottle of beer whether I wanted a glass. Minor I know, but I want to ask, "Really? In a restaurant with entrees of $25 to $40 I am asked whether I want a glass?"
Yet overall, a highly recommended restaurant that knows how to cook fish.
One of the best dining experiences I’ve had in St. Louis in a long time! The service was amazing as was the quality of the food. We will be returning soon!
Our group of 6 had a 7:30 pm reservation on Saturday night. We were seated promptly. Wine was ordered and received. Our inexperienced server was an issue. He had minimal knowledge of the menu and timing. We waited 20+ minutes for an order of 18 oysters, only be told at that point "Bad news, we only have 6 oysters". When they appeared 15 minutes later, there were 8! When asked the ingredients in the roasted garlic potato puree, he replied "potatoes?" We also had a side order of grilled seasonal vegetables come out as an appetizer. Again, likely the inexperienced waiter. The food was fine, the atmosphere quiet but the service was definitely lacking for the price. Would I go back? Probably, but not with guests.
Wonderful time! I recommend the crab cakes and the scallops! Everything was cooked to perfection! Service was spot on! I will recommend this place to all my friends!
WE had a great time on a Saturday night...Our waiter was new...but he knew all the off menu items, and I decided to try the pasta and seafood....WE will be coming again, and have been many times
Great meal. Gluten free flourless cake was the best I've ever had.
Pleasant dining experience, great place to have lunch. Service is excellent and done with a smile!
Mark was our server and was awesome. If you want great service ask for Mark. Our wine glass was always full.
Our waiter was excellent. Kept a close eye on us, but didn’t intrude. Very good crab cakes. Enjoyed the happy hour & then dinner. Food delicious.
We can always count on Oceano Bistro for a good meal, with good service, and good wine -- all at a good price. It's our go to seafood restaurant and never disappoints.
My husband and I chose Oceano for our Saturday evening meal. The decor is sumptuous and the service great., but the seafood is the star here as the name would suggest. The portians were generous without being ridiculous. The food was fresh and flavorful. I will be back.
As usual, Oceano Bistro delivered - we have always had excellent service, outstanding food quality and a memorable dining experience EVERY time we have dined there - and We’ve been there at least 15 times in the last 10 years. This is an outstanding restaurant
It was my husband’s birthday and seafood is his favorite so we wanted to try somewhere new. We had crab cakes, both both scallop dishes for our entrees, the portabella for a side, the bread pudding, cobbler and sorbet for dessert and everything was delicious! I must say that o got a glimpse of the fresh baked cookies and need to get them next time. His dessert was free for his birthday and he was able to pick anything off the dessert menu. Our server was delightful and answered every question we had. I will say it’s a bit noisy but that will not deter us from returning.
Had a great night - excellent Barolo (2014 Paolo Sorvino) recommendation from the sommelier, wonderful entrees cooked perfectly, with a great dessert (bread pudding). The pork chop was pefectly prepared with a wonderful pan sauce served with asparagus and potatoes. The mushroom ravioli appetizer was delectable. Best meal of 2019 so far!
Dodd was excellent as always. One of our favorites.
Disappointed it was, at best, only mediocre!! We will not go back.
Wonderful experience. Great food and ambience at a reasonable price. Crab cakes are to die for,
It was a great meal and the pricing is reasonable. It was a little noisy as there was a large table that seemed to be overly enjoying their wine.
I enjoyed my meal! I will be back again to try more of the menu!
Food was delicious and our server Mike, did a great job.
I have had lunch at Oceano several times and I have never had a bad experience. Staff and food are excellent.
This was the first experience for my entire party, it will not be the last. We were greeted warmly with great passion around their recommendations. We tried several and had 3 people trying dishes they had never experienced before. The swordfish was the star of the evening getting rave reviews and shared around the table. I also loved the scallops. We were not planning dessert but the recommendation of the warm chocolate chip cookies changed our minds ... a great end to an excellent dining experience.
Always good food and good service! The noise level is not too loud so you can visit with your Companions. I like my salmon well done and it always is cooked to perfection and still very moist
Great service, great food, adequate lighting, comfortable noise level.
I have recently been to Oceano on two occasions— once during Restaurant week and once this past weekend. During Restaurant week they were busy and naturally wanted to turn over their tables. We were made quite aware of that. However this past weekend, with only a few tables full, we still felt pushed — to complete each course and at the end of the meal. Totally unnecessary. Also gotta say, a piece of fish (even if nicely cooked) plopped on a heap of green beans doesn’t say much for care in presentation. Too many good restaurants in town— won’t be going back
The venue was good with good service. The food was disappointing. tuna was cold 3 slices not a fillet. served over a big bed of green beans. very strange presentation. The sauce was thin and ran over the green beans. There was a bed of like 3 potato slices. Salad had a lot of odd pieces in it.
Old style restaurant, great service, the menu has broad selection, the food is decent, but no wow factor.
There is professionalism in everything this Team performs. From greeting you at the door, taking your order and finally delivering your meal. The quality of the food is exceptional. No question that this is the best seafood restaurant in the St. Louis area. Tom Gunn
We had a wonderful evening complemented by a excellent dinner, great service.
Had our Valentines Day dinner here and it couldn't have been better. From the food to the service, it was a wonderful experience. We will be back!
Food was great. Service was great. Ambience was fun and lively.
