A nice, special occasion restaurant. The oysters were delicious, Bouillabaisse, Norwegian trout, and Halibut entrees well composed. Outstanding wine list.
Commencing with a delicious Cosmos, we had a yet another great meal at Oceanique. This is by far our favorite restaurant on the North Shore. Chef/owner, Mark, has a great menu and professional wait staff. I usually order lobster but opted last night for Halibut, which was outstanding. Extra small plates were a treat, especially the scallops! Desserts were awesome, too. LOVE THIS RESTAURANT!!!!

Delicious food with so much wonderful flavor. Service is outstanding without being there all the time. It is, however, quite pricy I think. I was surprised that a cup of coffee was $5.00 with NO REFILLS. 3 cups of coffee was $15.00. Think that was a bit much. Desserts were beautiful and as tasty as pretty. Portions were adequate. Did not leave hungry for sure.
Excellent food. A little pricey, but worth it. Service was good, but a bit underwhelming given the supposed quality of the restaurant.
If you are only going to have one vegetarian option on the menu, you should make it REALLY good. The only option was extremely sub par, and overpriced for what you got (mixed veggies with some broth in a puck on the plate)
Our second visit. Loved it. Food was wonderful. Service terrific and appropriately attentive. Belated Valentines dinner and it fit the bill perfectly. We will be back.
Oceanique is a fine dining, special occasion restaurant. We had the Chef’s Special Degustationor, a taste of 7 dishes. Each plate was exquisite but very small. The flavors were delicious and the presentations were beautiful. However, the portion sizes were so small, I felt I needed to fill up on the wonderful warm bread with butter. Service was attentive and friendly. Since our tab for dinner for 2 with a couple of drinks and the tip was over $300, it will be a while before we will be able to return.

Excellent food. Oceanside opened in 1989 and is still a great fine seafood dining experience. It is crazy expensive, however.
I have dined at some of the great restaurants in France, and Oceanique is one of the few restaurants in this country that truly delivers haute cusine. It is expensive but not over-priced, making it perfect for special occasions.
Had not been back in some time but the food and service was outstanding.
My girlfriend and I went on the last day of restaurant week and we had an amazing time. Food, service, ambiance were superlative. Can't wait to go back.
Everything was excellent with one exception: I ordered skate, a dish I’ve had in many restaurants. It was over cooked and the portion was minuscule

The food at Oceanique is always outstanding and also inventive. While the focus is on food from the sea, there are enough other options for anyone who doesn't eat fish. Each bite is flavorful. The hosts, servers, and chef are all very friendly, but they don't hover. Everything about the food and service is excellent.
Although I had not been to Oceanique for many years, it was still as good as I remembered.
My friends and I had one of the best dining experiences at Oceanique. It is a beautiful and charming dining room. The ambience is inviting and subtle. The food was brilliant. I have lived in France and it is true french food made with passion. We told the Chef the same when he came to our table.

We have always thought about trying this restaurant, but never have. When I received an e-mail for restaurant week Oceanique was included. Perfect time to try. The food was delicious & I am extremely picky. We had 3 courses & each of us had something different. Everything was very good. There was no choice on the dessert course. I was given something with banana, which would normally be one of my least favorite options. Whatever it was was absolutely delicious so I had no interest in trading:)

Excellent, imaginative, and truly chef-created dishes, even as part of Chicago Restaurant Week. Massive wine list. A variety of weeknight specials too.
The trout was exceptional, as was the entire meal. The service was attentive and non intrusive. Would go back in a heart beat.
The food and service was great, however you don't get enough food in a single entree to fill you up. Our bill was over $300 and we were still hungry by the time we left.
Oceanique is a wonderful Evanston tradition and is one of the finest and most creative seafood restaurants in Chicago. The food was superb and the room is very pleasant. Their prices are not shy, but fair for what you receive. So glad we could return after a few years.
First, second and third course were outstanding. Main course was a mystery. The plate was extremely hot and we were warned by the server not to touch it. Yet the fish on the plate was cool. Not even a touch of warmth. We choose to take that course home to warm up and eat the following day. How do you get a plate so piping hot and the food on it is cool at best. We have been to eateries where the plate is used to keep the food hot, but you have to start with hot food and that did not appear to be the purpose of their plates. Best part, great service.
The staff put care and effort in their service. Charles, the wine and spirits staffer is easy to work with and can mix a well blended cocktail if you know what you want.

We had a wonderful dining experience. The service was exceptional and the food was delicious. The plates were visually stunning and flavors outstanding. We were treated to mini tastes in between courses that were delightful. They were able to accommodate my gluten and dairy food intolerances without a problem.
Oceanique was simply superb in every aspect of the meal. The food was great as always and the service was just as good. It’s simply the best restaurant in the area.

Food was fantastic as usual and the groupon was a great deal with multiple courses. Not huge portions but that is not what we were looking for. Portions were right sized and very high quality and flavorful and plenty of food in the meal. Scallops as an appetizer were outstanding with the kimchi sauce.
Service was good. Drinks were very high priced. My wine was $20 a glass and coffee was $4.50 each. The music was bizarre - spaz jazz was quite loud which is not the ambience we expected in a fine dining restaurant. We asked them to turn it down which they obligingly did. All in all a wonderful evening
Another great meal at Oceanique! Mark and co. simply have “it” when it comes to a fine dine experience without pretentiousness. Food always amazes and the wine selection is second to none. Oceanique has been, and continues to be, our place when we want to have a memorable evening with friends and/or family.
The food was delicious. We got the tasting menu because everything on it sounded amazing. The flavors were so delicious and each course went wonderfully with the next.
The food is good but its really expensive. Their wine list is also very good but only a half dozen options under $100/bottle. Its worth a special occasion if traveling into the city is of concern
A terrific experience, start to finish. We chose the Autumn tasting menu with wine pairings and could not have been happier. A bwleautifully conceived and executed meal with appropriately sized portions and lovely wines that enhanced the food. Service was perfect - attentive but not overly so - and timing of the courses was superb. We were celebrating a birthday, and they made it a perfect evening.
Best food in the Suburb
My wife and I cane here to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary with some friends. The whole experience was outstanding. The Dover sole and halibut were amazing. We ordered 2 desserts and they came out with four! Although the prices were higher than we would normally spend, we would come back in a heartbeat! Great for a special occasion.👍👍👍👍🍸🍸🍸🍸
