Oceanaire Seafood Room - Miami - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I used to live in Miami, moved to Boston and know good seafood. We enjoyed their spot in Boston so when we saw this location in Miami we went again. Great food and service. Loved the martini, seafood platter and had my fish blackened. Will definately go again.
Love this place.. The happy hour menu is available in the bar and patio is from 3-7P every day except Saturday. We loved the tuna dishes on that menu. The mojitos were excellent..true Miami style. The regular menu offers a great selection of fish. Be prepared as most fish dishes are in the $30-$38 range, and only some come with a side. All, however, are very well prepared and (in my opinion) are worth the $$ as I only go here a few times a year. My suggestion if you are looking to keep the tab lower would be to order off the happy hour menu. The brussel sprouts are the best side here and are big enough for 2. The tres leches dessert is certainly big enough for 2 and was delicious...again, true Miami style.
We only go to this restaurant during Miami Spice since it is way overpriced. We were one of two tables of patrons yet it took almost 30 minutes to bring the appetizer. The decor is cold modern without a hint of warmth. There is no Miami ambiance. I could be in DC where they have another outpost The fish is well prepared but given the price and the number of good seafood restaurants in town I would skip this place.
This was my first time dining at Oceanaire. It started out great. After receiving our food, things went downhill! After requesting our check, it took an hour to receive it. Our waitress continually walked past our table without acknowledging us at all. After a ridiculous wait, we asked the manager to check us out so that we could finally leave.
Based on the prices you would expect fine dining quality of food, which this was most certainly not. The tiger shrimp appetizer was good (if you like spicy) but nothing to write home about and my salmon was drenched in sauce. I will not be coming back to this restaurant.
If you are looking for amazing seafood - River Oyster House is the place.
This is our second time at this restaurant. The first time was 2 years ago when my husband took me for my birthday, it was outstanding all across the board. But this time was a little disappointing especially the food. My husband ordered grouper fish which I thought would have been better than the fried snapper fish that I had ordered. His fish was very tough. My food was way too salty. I thought it was the fried rice so I told the waitress and she offered me jasmine rice instead which was great. However I realized that the saltiness was from the mixture that was used to coat the fish for frying. Minus the breaded part of the fish and everything else would have been great.
Went for mothers day and was a little disappointed. First time I did not love the experience. I will give them another chance because this has never happened before, but seemed like they just could not get it together that day. We waited an hour and forty five minutes for our lunch. My husband's cheese grits looked like cement. My crab legs were good, but seeing as all you have to do is put them on a plate, the wait time was extremely excessive.
Went with entire family, 14 of us, to Oceanaire Brickell Miami for Mother's Day lunch. What a disappointment! We arrived at 115 for a 130 reservation. They say us down promptly. That is the best part. Straight down hill from there. Service with an attitude. We did not leave until 430. That's right, 3 hours later. The food off the mother's brunch menu was tasteless and seemed like it had been served after being under a heating lamp for the 3 hours we were waiting for it. At the end, they comped us 4 mimosas and three soups. Needless to say, our family will never go back Oceanaire for a special occasion. Had a read the reviews from Open Table prior to making the reservation, I would not have placed the reservations. I read that many people had the same experience. Too much competition from good restaurants to be servicing their clients as portly as they did today.
Beautiful location Outstanding service the food was Simply Delicious ! Upon arriving I appreciated the location it was something else, very much the image that I have every time I think Miami, the restaurant itself is stunning, beautiful decor very sophisticated environment couldn't had pick a better place for my 5 year anniversary my girlfriend was very impressed as was I. Our server was a gentleman name Pedro he greeted my girlfriend and I by name, quickly after we were seated a very nice guy name Julian gave us our drinks and wish us well, the Chef send complimentary mahi mahi bites which were just Amazing our main course was a great portion and just extraordinarily good Thank you for a fantastic fine dining experience truly 5 star restaurant ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
They geared up for Valentines Day volume but only to collect the incremental. Service was very slows. Aspects of the typical experience were totally ignored. We were taken advantage of by being gouged by this place. They simply are not built to manage volume but crammed the place with more tables and many many more customers than they could handle. We were ready to walk out right when the entrees arrived. All for a modest 300 dollars!!!!
Experience started with a very haughty hostess who sighed and rolled her eyes at a request to have coats checked (the hostess stand is immediately in front of a coat check sign). As 'retribution' for inconveniencing her so, she went ahead and seated at least a dozen parties ahead of us, despite our table being ready. The server was very nice, but clearly inexperienced and/or overwhelmed, as service was extremely slow and inattentive; in fact, after 15 minutes of trying to flag someone down to refill water glasses, I finally got up and went to the wait station and brought the pitcher to our table to fill our glasses. Drinks were very weak, portions were small, appetizers were brought out at different times (individual appetizers, not to share), and very long gaps between courses. Food quality was fine, but nothing special. Spent $380 for 3 people for 3 cocktails, 3 glasses of an inexpensive wine, 3 appetizers, and 3 entrees (no desserts). No problem spending that for a fine dining experience, but this was anything but fine dining.
Even though it was on Valentine Days, the service was poor. The restaurant was not prepared for the crowed. The waitress was running all over the place and was not attentive to the customers. After the appetizers, the meal took longer than usually to be prepared.
We were staying at the Manderin Oriental and wanted something within walking distance catering to diners from vegitarian to carnivores. It did the trick. The menu was very diversified, the kitchen was very flexible and the waiter was very knowledgeable. The food was excellent without insane pricing. We were never rushed and had a wonderful time.
I hate writing a negative review, but avoid this place. Tavern on the Green prices with TGI Fridays service and food. Steak and lobster overcooked. Never served bread. Waiter in the weeds with no support. The manager did offer a free desert when we had to send back our steak, but at $50+ per person before drinks, you expect professional service and high quality food, both of which were lacking. I have had a very good experience at an Oceanaire in Baltimore, MD, but this location in Miami is a hot mess.
I was so excited to experience a meal at Oceanaire. I looked at the menu for days before our reservation and knew exactly what I wanted! The food was so good....everything was delicious!! The service was HORRIBLE which made the dining experience HORRIBLE as well. Thirty minute wait for drinks and wine...never did get water...we were not served bread, and our waiter could have cared less. Will not go back.
I was lured back to Oceanaire by the seviche that I had two years ago. That didn't disappoint - it was amazing - bright, tasty (not cheap). The rest was altogether mediocre. Overfried hog fish that was dry like paper (even the waiter recognized it), soggy, flat tuna. Tasteless overchopped (mushy) house salad. The outdoor dining area is right in the middle of the action, but the large screen TVs were blaring the evening news. The domestic assault and battery incidents, anti-police protests and plane crash reports tempered the atmosphere of the evening - and they wouldn't turn the off the tube when asked. Not going back.
Overall the food was great, especially the seafood dishes. The deserts very good, the chocolate cake and tres leches were excellent. There were a couple of meat dishes that the meat was too dry. The side dishes were very teasty. Great service. Like the atmosphere.
It took us two hours two dine. Food was good but service was really bad. One hour went by and the waitress came and told us that they were out of one of the main dishes we ordered. So after changing to a different one she came back after 20 more minutes and told us that the side dish we order had butter and she couldn't bring it since I told her from the beginning that I was alregic. It was really bad.
Not sure we will go back
The customer service was superior! The chef was awesome. He made us a special treat to sample it was delicious. Our waitress (Pat) was very good. Great service from the time we walked in till we left the building. Good was fresh and delicious. The prices were reasonable. Love it can't wait to go back.
