Oceanaire Seafood Room - Atlanta Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I went here on a date. We enjoy trying various restaurants and this was on our list. When we got there we were barely greeted by the hostess, no eye contact was made. Our waiter Derrick was mediocre at best, he displayed a very condescending demeanor and wasn’t very attentive. Outside of that, we enjoyed our meals, the crab cakes and lobster mac and cheese were good. Overall the experience was decent, we hope to return with a different waiter.
I took a date for their Valentine's day four course dinner. The set menus were to be expected except it had no vegetable options on the main courses aside from the salads offered on the second course. I ordered the lamb chops and my date, the lobster/fillet. Her steak was overcooked. The lamb was mostly fatty tissue with little to no lean meat. The desserts were prepackaged key lime pies and they were tasty but they looked as though they had been stored under a heat lamp. Presentation was terrible. The server was pleasant. The couple next to me returned their salmon entree which was severely under-cooked. The waitress gave me a Riesling instead of a sauvignon blanc like I asked.
Service was impeccable! The calamari was a little too soft for my liking. Silverware was not spot free, outside windows had handprints, and purse holder in ladies bathroom was broken off. Not something I expected from this type of restaurant. Won’t rush to go back
Don't go to lunch here ...
unless you are willing to pay 14 dollars or more, each car, for parking
They are supposed to offer you parking coupons but they never do at the table. So when you request them at the door, they don't have any there and they make you wait.
Our check was over $100 for lunch and we had to pay for parking!
Had eaten here years ago & obviously was impressed enough to come back but didn’t remember how very very expensive it is!! Oysters were delicious & the bar is a cool
Don’t know if they serve bread, we had bread plates, but never were offered bread! Grouper was very good
Doubt I’ll ever go back
Our server, Quentin, was wonderful and made some great recommendations for both our appetizer and entrees. There is a wonderful octopus appetizer that can be prepared sans mussels if you have an allergy like I do. I had the fried snapper which was almost perfect, I had to add a little salt which is no big deal and the presentation is excellent, whole fish-head and all. My husband had the grouper topped with lobster meat. We will definitely be dining here again.
Wow! What a disappointment! I had read quite a few good reviews about this place so I decided to take my wife for our 20th anniversary. I ordered the Ahi Tuna as my entree, for this kind of money you’d expect a flawless piece of fish. Unfortunately half of the serving was laced with gristle. In addition, and for those tuna lovers you would understand this, the piece of fish is supposed to be a vibrant pink color however the fish I was served was more on the browner side indicating it was not that fresh. Disappointing since our server explained to us the restaurant prides itself on being “Uber fresh!” Defined, as they shared, flown in “same day”! My wife ended up ordering the almond crusted mahi-mahi special. It was a nice portion of fish bu unfortunately it lacked any flavor. With a nice low end bottle of wine our check was over $200 without cocktails or dessert. Extremely disappointing and will not go back OR recommend to any colleagues or friends. Too bad since the interior is beautiful and wait staff was great.
The service and food were outstanding as always. But what I didn't appreciate was that our waiter "Derrick" did not mention the price of that evening's special. I know I should have asked the price after he mentioned what the evenings special was but I didn't. Normally or at least it's been my experience that the waiter explains what the special is and then states the price. Not that I wouldn't have still gone with the special but it was $75.00! It was priced correctly considering what it included (except for the tiny shrimp), I just would have at least given all of the information so I could have made a decision to accept or decline the special. Other than that Oceanaire continues to deliver top quality food & service experience!
Great atmosphere. Good wine list but expensive!!! $130 for Moet Chandon?? Really? It's only $40 retail ($90 markup?). We ordered 6 oysters and they brought only 5. How hard is it to count to 6? The waitress (Leikny) virtually read the entire menu out loud and she was very talkative. The waitress took my date's drink and appetizer order then walked away without taking my order and took the menus and wine list away too. I had to ask her to come back for my drink order and to bring the menus back. Food was average...wait staff...not so much. BUT the baked Alaska was GREAT.
Exceptional service as always. My salad had a bit too much sodium( ate some and brought most of it home so I can add other ingredients.
My husband ordered the fried snapper which he enjoyed but had stomach issues later.
Overall it was a good experience for my family; it was their first visit and my third.
It was our first anniversary and we are both seafood lovers. So why not go to a place that specialize in seafood. Perfect was not good enough for the way it was prepared and served. Our waitress was from Colorado and me being a Denver Bronco fan made it even more tasteful.....lol
Oceanaire is a traditional-style, upscale steak and seafood restaurant, the type of place you do not come across often enough. The presentation of shellfish as you enter the restaurant is phenomenal! The entire place is well-appointed.
The staff there was professional and very helpful and friendly.
Dined here with 5 others. Everyone ordered something different and everyone raved about their meal. We started with crab and octopus. I didn’t think the experience could get any better until they brought the entrees. My steak was very tender and the shrimp very flavorful. The scallops were unusually good and the Sole was prepared perfectly.
Conversation was easy even though the restaurant was practically full. Lastly, the service was prompt and efficient.
I always eat here when in Midtown and have never been disappointed.
My wife and I decided to visit Oceanaire for our anniversary. As usual we were not disappointed. The food was great with a wide selection to choose from. Since it was our anniversary they brought us a Baked Alaska at the end of the meal which was the only thing we did not like. Neither of us are Baked Alaska aficionados so I can’t say if it was bad or just not to our liking. I would like to specifically call out the service we received. You expect good service from a restaurant of this caliber but our waiter went the extra mile. He was very knowledgeable on the menu and made sure we had want we needed and wanted.
This was our 2nd time attending. Both times for my wife's birthday. Although she has made it clear that she likes to try new places on special occasions, Oceanaire was an exception. We absolutely loves this place & it took some pressure off me...lol. Not easy to keep finding new places when your wife is a food connoisseur..lol. Thank you Oceanaire. Awesome atmosphere, service & amazing food.
Oceanaire is one of my favorites. Apart from excellent food and good service, it's one of those restaurants where you can actually talk and enjoy the company of the people you're with instead of hearing loud music or other unnecessary noise in the background. I love that. I also love the ambiance. The restaurant is beautifully designed and there's plenty of elbow room so you don't feel crowded.
Excellent food and quite large portions. The best thing we had we the Grilled Octupus apettizer, and the portion size was large enough for two people to share or one person to have it as an entree. The lobster bisque was lush, and the simply prepared grouper was cooked perfectly and still very Weight Watchers friendly. Overall the service was a bit lackluster compared to restaurants of similar caliber, like Ruth's Chris or Canoe, but the food made up for that flaw. But be sure to save up - it was about $80/person.
