Ocean2000 Ratings and Reviews
Food and location are the highlights - host was terrific - had a sea side table for dining - but, the service was incredibly slow - I mean like ridiculously slow - it wasn’t really busy either. Waiter was friendly enough - just non existent - 3 stars for service overall due to being accommodating and friendly. - I’ll try again....however will keep tabs on waiter / service.
The waiter put champagne on our table then quickly removed it, and gave it to another table. Food came cold. Dessert horrible. Waiter took my credit card never came back, no pen to sign the tab. Wasn’t given flowers when you walk in. Nice music, beautiful atmosphere. Horrible service, food iffy. Take a pass. Go for drinks outside.
Our salmon, mahi mahi, and lobster mac and cheese were perfectly done, full of flavor, and had a light flame texture. Our server Mitch took care of us and was always within sight but not overbearing. We ate outside while watching and listening to the waves, and seeing the sky change from blue to pink to night. This is a fantastic experience. Get a table under the tiki torches or drink around a fire pit.
We were extremely disappointed with everything. Requested a table at the terrace for a birthday, called 3 days in advance. Once all guests were there the manager told us it was for only parties of 4 ( not 7). We were seated indoors. Waiters were extremely slow. Brought the cake from another birthday party (8) that were outside at the terrace. Felt discriminated. Not even an apology until I complained!!!! Food was horrible!!!
Watching and hearing the ocean on the veranda makes for a lovely dining setting. Live music is a nice touch, even though the genre was not one I prefer. Ahi tuna tartar was delicious! Crab cake was good, not great. Chilean sea bass and risotto were spectacular! We ordered decaf cappuccino and confirmed with the server that it was decaf but we were both awake for half the night. Not nice!
A group of four friends vacationing in Ft. Lauderdale was searching for waterfront dining on the ocean versus the intercontinental. We discovered that Ocean 2000 at Pelican Grand Resort was a perfect ending to a great vacation. The beach side dining on a gorgeous veranda was the highlight of our trip. The setting was completed by an amazing guitarist accompanied by a full moon rising over the ocean. The service was impeccable; our server (Nate!) was funny, knowledgable and perfectly available yet not intrusive. The martinis were fabulous as well as all of our meals. We did not want to leave! Absolutely include this restaurant on a trip to Ft. Lauderdale for the ideal meal in a relaxed, yet upscale beachside setting.
From the moment you drive up to the entrance to the walk back to the restaurant you feel as though you are in a very special place. We were directed through the dining room to the outdoor veranda overlooking the beach the sound of crashing surf and this night a huge blue moon reflecting on the water. Our server Pascal was outstanding the plates were amazing I had the pork chop others fresh sea food! I recommend that you order a few sides for the table. You want to impress and have a table for 5 that allowed for quiet conversation I highly recommend Oceans. Reminds me of Hotel Del Coronado.
Booked for 4pm, got there earlier as we wanted to enjoy the beach before eat, decided to stop and make sure everything was good ( it was 3pm), been told by hostess that they couldn’t take us at 4pm as it is when they close kitchen to get ready for dinner. So I said that they accepted the booking , how could that be!? Hostess said: you made thru open table, like if that was a big error, and my error, also she said: I don’t control the open table settings! They tried to contact me earlier the day, I returned the call, no answer so left VM. Hostess said they don’t get VM ( so why have one?) . At end all good, we got a table just before 4pm, tks God we got there earlier. So if you book using open table, better to give a call, don’t leave VM, speak with someone and make sure all is good to go ( can’t see the point of using the app if still need to call)
Food took forever. Appetizers took 45 minutes to get to table. Then the mains took another 35 mins after the appetizer. Neither of us were very impressed with any of the 3 dishes we ordered - sort of basic and bland for the price (and wait!) Service was reasonable. View was great. Ambience is nice.
Sitting on the porch overlooking the ocean, can’t get a better view in ft. Lauderdale. Service is very good. But, the food leaves a lot to be desired. It’s ordinary at best and not very good. Stick to lunch here, not dinner.
We had a lovely table by the window for our Christmas (early) Dinner. The menu was appropriate, and we were anxious and hungry. However, the main course was not served hot. We asked if the meals could just be microwaved far a few seconds, but instead we received new plates for our main course. The second meals were also not hot. We did not want to return our food again, as this is embarrassing for us to have sent them back the first time. The beef was medium-well, not medium-rare as requested. We wondered if we got someone else's meals.
We had issues last year, and the manager was very gracious to invite us back. But with issues two years in a row, I think we will go elsewhere next Christmas. Unfortunate, because the staff is very nice and the view is amazing.
Go for the view but not the food.
Sunday brunch at $65 a head is $30 too expensive for the quality of food served. There’s a wide enough variety but many of the chafers were empty within 15 minutes of opening and they were slow to be replenished. The shrimp were the worst - watery and tasteless. Omelette cooked to order was good. The prime rib looked way too fatty. Overall very unimpressed with the quality of the food.
Our server was friendly and kept our mimosas topped up. The view from the outdoor deck to the beach and ocean beyond was perfect.
Valet is $5, but beware of staying longer than 2 hours as the cost shoots up to $14! There was a long line to check in with the hostess and many guests ahead of me didn’t have reservations. Despite my Opentable reservation being for outdoor seating, we were allocated an indoor table and had to wait 15 minutes for a table to be prepared.
If you want a great food experience try elsewhere, if the location and view is more important you won’t go wrong here.
