Ocean Prime - Troy Ratings and Reviews
Ocean prime is my all time favorite restaurant comes with every aspect you woud want when dining with ocean prime. From the food the service the area and just the restaurant it’s self every thing about this restaurant is amazing and I will continue going here with out a doubt.
Unusually’ this place was well off its customary mark for food quality last week Nice atmosphere, great service but the food quality was poor. I had the blackened red fish and it was ill prepared. The fish was ok but the preparation was remarkably poor. The red bell pepper in the preparation was so very strong it overpowered the fish. Obviously they no longer have a chef that takes care but a short order cook hired no doubt from a truck stop. Too bad the place used ti be top notch.
Sunday surf and turf meal with a discounted bottle of wine is a great value! The food is good, but a bit salty.... The atmosphere makes it nice for a special occasion. Free birthday dessert too! Not really a place to take children, even though they have a "young adults" menu....
Our first visit was to celebrate our daughter's 30th birthday. Each of the 5 entrees was superb, and the music level was perfect, which allowed us to converse effortlessly. Our only complaint is that we were seated near an exterior door and could feel cold air either from that or from overhead vents. (It was one of the coldest days of the year -- good thing we dressed in layers.)
The side dishes were excellent as were the 2 desserts which were generous enough for all 5 of us to share. We were very pleased.
Food and service were outstanding. We wanted a booth so we ate in the "lounge" bar area. There was live music which was great but the entire area was too loud for conversation. I wish there had been booths in the dining room as we would have enjoyed ourselves more with the noise level a bit more muted.
Love this restaurant and the choice of seafoods available.
We have been to the Ocean Prime in Naples, Fla. and got excited to
see there was one in Troy. The atmosphere in the bar area is very nice
and cozy. We decided to continue our dinner in there in a booth. We
were celebrating our Anniversary. We will return. We are from the
Lansing area so the 1 and 1/2 drive makes it tougher unless we decide to
spend the night!
We dined an early dinner in celebration of New Year's Eve. Was pleasant to have both valet and coat check. Steaks were cooked as requested and the drawn butter for lobster tails was perfect. The Young Adult menu was spot on and impressive. While it was pleasant, it met, but did not exceed, our expectations. Quality and preparation of food was on par with expectations. A few non-positive observations.
I was surprised that we were not offered coffee at the conclusion of the meal, but this may have been due to children dining with us.
No Prix Fixe menu was offered, though we attempted to inquire prior to reservations and were under the impression it would be available. Holiday special pricing differed from website and was not modified after it was brought to waitresses attention.
Overall it was a great experience with delicious food. Wait staff was attentive. We felt food was value for the price. I would return, but would seek days with Prix Fixe menu.
Our steaks were sent back twice only to get a way undercooked steak the third time around in which at that point I was ready to cook it myself. Our evening went 45 passed the hour and had to pay an extra hour for babysitter. Terrible nite with kitchen was out of sync calls for a zero score to this establishment!!
Honestly, a bit disappointing. In my reservation request via Open Table, I kindly requested a table not near the kitchen or a servers station as that is our pet peeve. When we arrived on time for our dinner, we were escorted to the very worst table possible, one in which all 4 of us could look into the kitchen. It was the EXACT opposite of what I had requested. We had to wait another 10 minutes for another table.
They offered a wine deal that any bottle of less than $100 was half off. I thought that was great and ordered a bottle for roughly $76 full price. When I got my bill, I wanted to look at the detail to verify that the $76 bottle was charged at half the price.
Sadly, I was not given a detailed receipt, which in my experience happens about 1% of the time, and never at a fine dining establishment. As a result, I could not verify the pricing, and I was not going to make a scene about it as we had just finished a lovely family meal with great food. However, the server (RJ was his name) did not get the usual 20% plus Christmas tip I give all of my December servers. Doubtful I will be back anytime soon.
I went to dinner with my husband hoping for a quiet holiday meal before the craziness of the holiday began. Didn't happen. We were seated next to a large group that was too close to us and people walking by kept hitting my husbands chair constantly. Our waiter was great and very attentive. Food was just okay. Calamari and carrot cake were excellent! My husbands filet was stringy and chewy and my sea bass had no flavor. We expected much for for a $200 tab.
The overall restraunt and food were great. The service was good except for the waiter's helper who kept coming by the table every minute. Trying to clear the table, even before the food came out, and there were only water glasses on the table this went on all night. Made us feel rushed. Other than this the restraunt was great and would definitely recommend it to others.
