Ocean Prime - Tampa Ratings and Reviews
I think your cab selection could be improved both for price and average wines the general population would more likely purchase
1. Segesheo Red Zifindel Sonoma County bottle $21 Excellent with beef, chicken and sea food
2 Murphy Good excellent medium priced full bodied Cab..
Next time I m in I d like to spend more time looking over your wine list I had a partner ship in a wine shop...the general customer needs a good $30 to $35 bottle of cab with dinners...there are many out there...cheers
I ll recommend to all my friends

Ocean Prime is a very trendy place probabally better for drinks than dinner, I ordered a New York Strip for close to $50 dollars and it had so much grizzle I almost could not get through it. I have had better steaks at Grill Smith for $20. This is totally unacceptable for that price, I was very angry after the meal. I could have gone to Charlies or Ruth Chris for that price. This place is more about being trendy than the quality of the food. I will go again for drinks only and head over to Charlies for the meal.
Great atmosphere that is a little noisy but actually gives you the feel that your conversation is not being over heard at the next table which is very nice.
Great outdoor dining and the energy in the place is very good.
The drinks were excellent and the bar is hoping with live music later in the evening.
The food is good but priced to be outstanding.
Richie -our waiter-is truly an asset to the establishment. Service was ON THE MONEY.
The place was amazing with Service outstanding from the valet to the waiter. Menu was had all the right elements and steaks perfectly cooked. The only reason I gave 4 stars was both our baked potatoes arrived cold which was a disappointment. No other complaints and I would definitely go back again.
All the staff were friendly and the place had a wonderful energy and vibe.
The bad: Our waiter could have been more attentive and he was difficult to understand. he kind of mumbled. The only other issue we had was that it was raining. We called ahead and were told that there was valet and that they had umbrellas and not to worry. When we got there, the valet said they did not have umbrellas and my wife and i had to walk into the rain and enter the restaurant wet. Many other people were disturbed by this as we watched them enter in quite wet.
The Good: The food was very good and the atmosphere is nice.
I have dined here many times and always ordered the filet mignon which is excellent. This time it was my wife's birthday and we ordered the king crab and oyster tower, pricey but delicious for our appetizer. We split the Wedge salad served ice cold.My wife ordered the Red Snapper blackened and I chose the Salmon. They were good portions and cooked to perfection.I would order either one again on my next visit. The side orders are each big enough for 3-4 people. We new this from previous visits and ordered the truffle fries and could not finish but half.We chose not to order dessert. We went early on Sunday and were given a nice window table. The service was very good and the food came out in very good order.I also recommend this place for lunch.
The food was very good. I am NOT a calamari person at all. My husband ordered it and it was fantastic! He got the snapper which was also very good. I got the prime salad with chicken. I wish my salad had some more walnuts and cranberries as noted on the menu. seemed to be mainly just lettuce, but was still tasty.
Ocean Prime may be slightly more expensive than some places, but the cost is justified.
The greeting was friendly, the waiter attentive and friendly, and the decor is modern and attractive. Lunch is very nice there because of the wonderful natural light that fills the main dining room. The decor is simple and straightforward, nothing fussy, nothing
The weak point about the food may be the entrees, pretty good, but nothing memorable. The desserts and appetizers are excellent. There is the feeling of being in a nice yet informal place, nice table linens...and being attentively looked after.
There are also private function areas, and a bar which is likely lively in evenings. Great location, in the I Plaza Shopping complex.
I've had many special occasions there before when the restaurant has been packed still had better service than I received this past outing. I felt that things were just thrown together for my requests and the staff could care less about it. I was truly embarrassed and don't think I will be revisiting Ocean Prime again.
I've been to Ocean Prime for happy hour and lunch and it was great. It was my husband's first time. It was a let down.
We sat outside and the service was lacking. It was 10+ minutes before a server asked us if we wanted water. The serve never improved. Fresh ground pepper was offered but the server had to go 'find' it, a glass was broken near us and there was no apology, or 'are you ok?' plus one steak was over-cooked.
The chocolate/peanut butter dessert was amazing!
I'm guessing our service was not up to par because we were outside, or it was a Monday?
Either way, my husband won't go back.
The manager on duty, Patrick was great. We did not like our first offered table and although the place was almost full he took us to a much more appropriate table. The food was very good, nice salad, crab app, and good entrees. The server Richard was average, and a bit distracted although we left a 17% tip because of the good food and drinks. The special wines and drink menu had many choices and the drinks were generous. Altogether a good experience.
Great food and great service. Our server this time and on a prior trip dissuaded us from choosing the pork porterhouse. However, someone in our group tried it and shared. It was fabulous and we do not understand why there is an effort to dissuade diners from this selection.
We sat in a "back" room. The air freshener was too much. We enjoyed the atmosphere of the dining area closer to the lake over this area.
The wine I tried was phenomenal, but very expensive.
First visit. Lovely atmosphere. Great food. Wonderful service. My friend and I did a joint birthday celebration. Our server Sara Lambert was awesome and acknowledged the occasion with their best deserts. After dinner we enjoyed the live piano music in the bar. Worthy of a visit in itself! We will both go back and recommend Ocean Prime to all of our friends and acquaintances.
We had an 8pm reservation and did not get seated until 850. The young hostesses were not sincere in their apologies. The manager bought us a very nice bottle of wine which was nice.
However, our server was put off by our food selection. He described the seafood tower appetizer and when we discussed whether sharing the tower as pur entree, and each getting a salad, he tuned out. I guess he was calculating the tip.
Although he said we could custom order the tower in whatever amounts we wanted (and whatever shellfish) he didn't bother to ask us what we wanted. The tower arrived before salad. He said he thought we wanted our salads as our main course (really?)
The Caesar was the blandest/worst Caesar dressing I've ever had.
I will never re
