The best halibut I have ever eaten, salad and soup was excellent. Background music was way too loud but they did turn it down a little when we asked. Our waiter was excellent and on our second night there he sent us home with a sample dessert ! Will look for this restaurant in different cities!
Out with the wife
Very good food and service.
Food and service were top notch. The noise level was loud, so much so that I switched chairs. I’ll ask for a quiet area next time. Scallops were outstanding!
we visit this restaurant frequently. this evening was a celebration of our wedding anniversary. the food was excellent, kyle our server was great and the evening was fabulous.
Food was excellent and the serer was very knowledgeable and helpful in making our selections. We loved everything he recommended.
We dined with 4 friends this time, quite early at 5pm. We came in like 4:50 and were told that we have to sit down for 10 mins without service, or water, since dining would start at 5:00p. Kinda strange. At 5:00p, Steven showed up to take our order: jumbo shrimp cocktail (4 out of 5 stars), Caesar Salad (4,5/5) snow crab legs (raw bar) 4,5/5, swordfish w/capers 3,8/5 double lobster tails w/mashed potatoes 4,75/5, Bone-in Kansas City Strip 3,8/5 (served medium instead of medium-rare) dessert was chocolate cake (5/5), Mango Shorbet (5/5). Drinks were average in quality but expensive, we spent $570 for 4 diners, with just 2 wines by the glass. Would return? Probably Yes. But there’s much better places for luxury dining in The Phoenix AZ/Scottsdale area.
Once we were seated we got water right away. That was great.
almost 25 min had past and several waiters walked buy never any acknowledgment . It’s like we were invisible.
I finally had stopped one of them and asked him if we could order a bottle of wine? He said “Oh yes of course” that was a little weired awkward. After that we became important and the service was good.
Savanah was absolutely fantastic as our server !
This is a great brunch. Too bad it is only twice a year.
The atmosphere was nice. Our server was excellent! The meal was good but not the best in the area for the price. Our waiter was always available and very informative about the pairings.
Birthday decor was done well.
Food and service was excellent. However, a couple in a booth across from us were actually necking and fondling constantly which was rather disturbing. We mentioned it to the waitress.
This went on for an hour....I was rather embarrassed as I had recommended this restaurant as a
refined restaurant. And then this! I would expect this at a MacDonalds but certainly not at a
very expensive restaurant. I don't think we should have had to experience that type of behavior from two adults who were constantly going at it. I understand this goes on with this couple every Monday night at the same time......disgusting! Super surprised and very disappointed that this was allowed....and to continue constantly for an hour.
Excellent place to do business
The outdoor seating was a wonderful way to end the day. Celebrating my wife's birthday. They had arranged a special table. The food from the Ocean Prime salad and the Chilean sea bass were perfect. Save room for dessert which were incredible. We are looking forward to our return.
When I made the reservation, I mentioned that we were celebrating our anniversary and was thrilled when they acknowledged it as soon as we walked in, had rose petals on the table, and comp’d our dessert at the end. Really made our celebration even more special!
Our waiter (Thomas I think..) was outstanding and very passionate about the menu and we took his recommendation on our entrees: Chilean Sea Bass and Kansas City Strip and both were amazing! Perfect portion size, cooked to perfection, and perfectly presented. We ate everything on our plates and were full but not overly stuffed.
We decided on the Butter Cake for dessert and it was delectable and rivaled some of the others we’d had elsewhere.
It was our first visit to Ocean Prime but won’t be our last. The whole experience was outstanding from start to finish and I highly recommend dining there!
Wonderful evening as guests of Ocean Prime....kicked off with the Lobster Roll and Alaskan King Crab Legs, followed by Lobster Bisque(s), Twin Lobster Tails and Chilean Sea Bass, and closed with the Ten Layer Carrot Cake. Service was exceptional and we will certainly be back next time we are in Scottsdale.
Had a large party for a group dinner. Nikolette was absolutely fabulous to work with and more than accommodating to all of our needs.
This was a birthday dinner for my wife. The table was decorated beautifully. The food was excellent. The only negative was that our waiter and assistant were absent for long periods of time and it was not particularly crowded. Our water glasses were empty for at least 10 minutes. The waiter apologized and said he was serving a private party on the other side of the restaurant. When the GM checked on us we shared our disappointment with the service. He actually paid for our bottle of wine as an apology. Now that's how to make it right. We'll definitely be back as this is the best seafood in the desert that you can find.
I took my husband for his 30th birthday it was AMAZING!! Great food and great service! We will be returning.
Ocean Prime is a wonderful place to dine. They have very friendly greeters, excellent servers AND a wonderful manager (Tony McMahon) who personally says hello and speaks to all patrons. The food is always incredible. Visit it sometime and you will not regret it.
The food and service were terrific and when my friends did not care for the taste of her entree the manager came by and personally made things right. Our food was exceptionally good.
Every thing was top notch . The only issue I have is that the manager came to my table and his approach wasn’t necessary. He didn’t ask anyone around us about anything . My girlfriend is hot and he stood in our space to long . She even commented that she thought he was going to sit down . I watched him and he couldn’t stop staring at her then he said oh do you want me to take this Away ? I said yes ! He continued to give awkward energy in my private table space . I didn’t like it . It was our anniversary and her birthday. I’m not a jealous man but this was obvious and not professional.
It was lit!
We ate there Thursday and Saturday night. Both meals were excellent if not exceptional.
Only suggestion is if you want it a little quieter so you can easily talk then go on a week night.
I loved it. My husband didn't love it as much. Seafood Tower was fresh and great presentation. Expected more from the steak. Sushi was great. My double lobster was excellent! Wine was 3 x price wise but great selection. Wedge salad was great. After dinner drinks need to add more Europe selections.
We ate there on a Wednesday night. Sat in the enclosed patio right by the fireplace. It was so cozy and quiet as they weren't super busy.
Our food was delicious. Best French Onion soup I have ever had. Huge shrimp. Tasty Blue Point oysters. Our steaks were perfectly done to order, no salt.
Sautéed spinach was way salty, could not eat it.
Going to take a some good friends there soon for their birthdays.
Good food and service. Friendly staff. Special occasion celebrations.
Trying to be a high end establishment but not quite getting there. Food was adequate. Service was very nice. Wine was served warm, reflecting lack of proper storage conditions. Making matters worse, the restaurant lacked appropriate stemware. Serving Pinot noir in a low end Bordeaux glass because you offer no alternatives shows an intent to cut corners. Restaurants charge exorbitant prices for wine by claiming that storage and proper service cost money. When you fail on both counts, then you are really in the business of gouging your customer.
The restaurant did a wonderful job of helping us celebrate and feel celebrated!
Food was GREAT...service was amazing. Menu was fairly priced. Great experience!!!
This was not our first time at Ocean Prime. We probably won’t go again. The service was inattentive. There are better choices for fine dining.
I was overcharged at the time of paying. I authorized a charge of $150 (two couples split the bill), including a 20% tip). However, I was notified by my credit card bank that a charge of $160 had been submitted by Ocean Prime. I am currently contesting this, but I was very disappointed to find that this happened in an otherwise first-class establishment. The food was excellent, the service (other than the overcharge) was also excellent, the noise was deafening, and the ambiance was great. Just be careful when it comes to paying the bill.
Service was slow! The food came out wrong and took too long to come back! Over priced!
we were recommended to this establishment by friends who frequent the restaurant. They recommended the Ahi Tuna and/ or the salmon. we chose both and were very satisfied. the wine list was impressive. we were early (5:00pm). the atmosphere was businesslike and conversation very comfortable. we would return if the occasion warranted.
The food was good but not good enough to rave about. The bread was a little tough, the appetizer of calamari was excellent and the entrée was good but not stellar. The proportions were generous and the wine list was extensive. Overall a good experience
Great food, knowledgeable server, and excellent service. Appreciated small things done to recognize our special occasion.
My wife and I like to go to nice places and sometimes we will go to really nice places; this was one of those occasions. We frequent High Street fairly often. The last time we visited (about a week ago) on the way out we took note of the Ocean Prime and decided we would try it next time we were out. When we arrived the place looked very nice, walking into the front hostess area from outside. When we were greeted I told them we visited High Street often and wanted to give Ocean Prime a try. He said great and wished us to have an enjoyable evening. Once seated we were served our drinks. So for all is very well. Since we were at Ocean Prime and they had a nice looking steak menu I decided to go with a steak. I usually go with bone in Rib-eye but they did not have that, it was straight Rib-eye or a 12oz Bone in Fillet. I didn't time it but I believe it took at least 30 and up to 45 minutes for the food to arrive. Once it arrived, at first glanced at the steaks I thought to myself (oh darn) this is not a professionally cooked steak. Anyone who is a steak connoisseur knows what I mean when I say a great steak like you'd get at places like the Ocean Club at Kierland Commons have a sear on them that is unmistakable. Its almost burnt but not and when you see that, you know what's underneath that sear is nothing but a joyous mouthful of flavor. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the very best I'd have to score these steaks a 4 to 5. They tasted like they'd been sitting around for a while before they were finally served to us. For a $52 steak, I was very disappointed to say the least. All in all, the restaurant was really nice, the people and management were very nice, I got to say though, I didn't care much for the lady server we had. She seemed to almost be bothered to have to wait on us, while forcing this kind of fake smile. Not sure what it was but she was not the friendliest or most helpful server I've ever encountered.
Have been to Ocean Prime numerous times. Saturday night was a great disappointment. The bar tenders were totally useless. We felt we were invisible. One gal took our drink order. We had to flag her down to order an appetizer and also had to ask for popcorn. We never got the popcorn. We went to a table for dinner hoping things would get better. The tuna tartare which I always order, was mushy and wontons were not crushed. The dish was very vinegary not the normal ponzu. Did they run out? I was so looking forward to the dish. The giant shrimp were delicious.
Will I come back???
