I took my husband for his 30th birthday it was AMAZING!! Great food and great service! We will be returning.
Ocean Prime is a wonderful place to dine. They have very friendly greeters, excellent servers AND a wonderful manager (Tony McMahon) who personally says hello and speaks to all patrons. The food is always incredible. Visit it sometime and you will not regret it.
The food and service were terrific and when my friends did not care for the taste of her entree the manager came by and personally made things right. Our food was exceptionally good.
Every thing was top notch . The only issue I have is that the manager came to my table and his approach wasn’t necessary. He didn’t ask anyone around us about anything . My girlfriend is hot and he stood in our space to long . She even commented that she thought he was going to sit down . I watched him and he couldn’t stop staring at her then he said oh do you want me to take this Away ? I said yes ! He continued to give awkward energy in my private table space . I didn’t like it . It was our anniversary and her birthday. I’m not a jealous man but this was obvious and not professional.
It was lit!
We ate there Thursday and Saturday night. Both meals were excellent if not exceptional.
Only suggestion is if you want it a little quieter so you can easily talk then go on a week night.
I loved it. My husband didn't love it as much. Seafood Tower was fresh and great presentation. Expected more from the steak. Sushi was great. My double lobster was excellent! Wine was 3 x price wise but great selection. Wedge salad was great. After dinner drinks need to add more Europe selections.
We ate there on a Wednesday night. Sat in the enclosed patio right by the fireplace. It was so cozy and quiet as they weren't super busy.
Our food was delicious. Best French Onion soup I have ever had. Huge shrimp. Tasty Blue Point oysters. Our steaks were perfectly done to order, no salt.
Sautéed spinach was way salty, could not eat it.
Going to take a some good friends there soon for their birthdays.
Good food and service. Friendly staff. Special occasion celebrations.
Trying to be a high end establishment but not quite getting there. Food was adequate. Service was very nice. Wine was served warm, reflecting lack of proper storage conditions. Making matters worse, the restaurant lacked appropriate stemware. Serving Pinot noir in a low end Bordeaux glass because you offer no alternatives shows an intent to cut corners. Restaurants charge exorbitant prices for wine by claiming that storage and proper service cost money. When you fail on both counts, then you are really in the business of gouging your customer.
The restaurant did a wonderful job of helping us celebrate and feel celebrated!
Food was GREAT...service was amazing. Menu was fairly priced. Great experience!!!
This was not our first time at Ocean Prime. We probably won’t go again. The service was inattentive. There are better choices for fine dining.
I was overcharged at the time of paying. I authorized a charge of $150 (two couples split the bill), including a 20% tip). However, I was notified by my credit card bank that a charge of $160 had been submitted by Ocean Prime. I am currently contesting this, but I was very disappointed to find that this happened in an otherwise first-class establishment. The food was excellent, the service (other than the overcharge) was also excellent, the noise was deafening, and the ambiance was great. Just be careful when it comes to paying the bill.
Service was slow! The food came out wrong and took too long to come back! Over priced!
we were recommended to this establishment by friends who frequent the restaurant. They recommended the Ahi Tuna and/ or the salmon. we chose both and were very satisfied. the wine list was impressive. we were early (5:00pm). the atmosphere was businesslike and conversation very comfortable. we would return if the occasion warranted.
The food was good but not good enough to rave about. The bread was a little tough, the appetizer of calamari was excellent and the entrée was good but not stellar. The proportions were generous and the wine list was extensive. Overall a good experience
Great food, knowledgeable server, and excellent service. Appreciated small things done to recognize our special occasion.
My wife and I like to go to nice places and sometimes we will go to really nice places; this was one of those occasions. We frequent High Street fairly often. The last time we visited (about a week ago) on the way out we took note of the Ocean Prime and decided we would try it next time we were out. When we arrived the place looked very nice, walking into the front hostess area from outside. When we were greeted I told them we visited High Street often and wanted to give Ocean Prime a try. He said great and wished us to have an enjoyable evening. Once seated we were served our drinks. So for all is very well. Since we were at Ocean Prime and they had a nice looking steak menu I decided to go with a steak. I usually go with bone in Rib-eye but they did not have that, it was straight Rib-eye or a 12oz Bone in Fillet. I didn't time it but I believe it took at least 30 and up to 45 minutes for the food to arrive. Once it arrived, at first glanced at the steaks I thought to myself (oh darn) this is not a professionally cooked steak. Anyone who is a steak connoisseur knows what I mean when I say a great steak like you'd get at places like the Ocean Club at Kierland Commons have a sear on them that is unmistakable. Its almost burnt but not and when you see that, you know what's underneath that sear is nothing but a joyous mouthful of flavor. On a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the very best I'd have to score these steaks a 4 to 5. They tasted like they'd been sitting around for a while before they were finally served to us. For a $52 steak, I was very disappointed to say the least. All in all, the restaurant was really nice, the people and management were very nice, I got to say though, I didn't care much for the lady server we had. She seemed to almost be bothered to have to wait on us, while forcing this kind of fake smile. Not sure what it was but she was not the friendliest or most helpful server I've ever encountered.
Have been to Ocean Prime numerous times. Saturday night was a great disappointment. The bar tenders were totally useless. We felt we were invisible. One gal took our drink order. We had to flag her down to order an appetizer and also had to ask for popcorn. We never got the popcorn. We went to a table for dinner hoping things would get better. The tuna tartare which I always order, was mushy and wontons were not crushed. The dish was very vinegary not the normal ponzu. Did they run out? I was so looking forward to the dish. The giant shrimp were delicious.
Will I come back???
We celebrate "half-anniversaries" as well as anniversaries because we were married in mid-life and want to make up for those lost years in the first half of our life. Ocean Prime made our celebration great with wonderful food, great service, and good ambiance. The food and beverages were great from before-dinner drinks, to appetizers, through entrees and dessert. Everything, even including bread, were excellent. Ocean Prime certainly ranks in the top 2 - 3 restaurants in the entire Phoenix area.
My husbands brother and his wife were staying with us over Valentines Day so we all celebrated a dinner out together at Ocean Prime. We enjoyed their specialty cocktails before dinner, a bubbly martini and punch, both were very good, so good we all had a second. The men had fillet mignon with shrimp scampi and the other with Oscar, you are able to pick the accompaniment you would like on your steak. The ladies had the seafood special grouper with a wonderful piece of Alaskan king crab legs on top, both were excellent ! We asked our server to send the sommelier over to our table to help us choose a wine that would compliment all our entrees. He was very pleasant and knowledgeable and we chose a nice blend. Our server was also very pleasant and well informed on the menu and offered good advice on the dishes. he took our picture for us to remember such a lovely evening. After appetizers of house salads, excellent choice with a light dressing and goat cheese on top, sushi and Ahi tuna for the men , side dishes of mushrooms and Brussel sprouts ( roasted with balsamic vinegar) and asparagus with our mains, we decided to skip desert although it looked pretty good at other tables. We had actually ordered too much and unfortunately could not eat it all.
The dining room had a very nice ambience with moderate background noise level that still allows you to have a conversation at your table without feeling like you are shouting or being overheard by other tables. Overall it was a very nice dinner out that we were all enjoyed and did not disappoint in any way. The dining room is lovely with a fireplace, pretty lit up bar and large windows that open up to the outside, the weather was a little cool so the windows were not open but the fireplace made it very cozy inside. We dressed up for the occasion and enjoyed the more formal atmosphere of the dining room. We have also enjoyed a casual dining experience on the lounge side of the restaurant with live entertainment.
always a great treat, friendly accommodating staff
The food was to die for and the waiter was outstanding. I could not have asked for a better place to take my mother too on her 60th birthday. They made it so special for her and she was thrilled and had no problems telling them that she was 60. Thank you for making it so special for my mother. Will definitely be back and have already highly recommended going here.
We had a great anniversary dinner. The food and service was remarkable. We thoroughly enjoyed the night.
Food was superb. Service was highly professional yet not stuffy. While definitely pricey, the experience lives up to it. Will be happy to have occasion to return
The best swordfish I have ever had...overall one of the best restaurants in Phoenix/Scottsdale.
We were celebrating a birthday
Awesome, as always!
Great restaurant but being shared by 3 servers was confusing The one coming by never knew what the other already did...
Food was great - Wine list was great - Service was great.
First timers with friends who are locals. Everything was outstanding especially the PRIME ROLL!! Friday night piano and singing were an added bonus!!! We will be back soon!
Never disappointed when I bring business colleagues. Something for everyone. There is a vegan option of quinoa with roasted vegetables. It’s not on the menu. You have to ask for it. Delicious!
What a neighborhood gem! We’ve been there for the first time and were thrilled. The Phoenix/Scottsdale area is not short on superb dining options but this place is really outstanding. There’s a cozy bar area with live music where patrons can unwind with a drink. They even got 2 private dining rooms. We got placed into the main dining room though. Our order: Caesars Salad (4 points out of 5), jumbo shrimp cocktail 3 ct (5/5), crab meat cocktail (5/5) 16 oz Kansas City Strip Steak med/rare (faboulos 5/5) with Lobster mashed potatoes (4,7/5), and a huuuuge piece of superb chocolate mousse cake w/ vanilla ice cream (5/5). Avoid to drink wine, it’s very expensive (Glass of mid class red wine $45, glass of Vve Cliquot Champagne $30). Service is fast and efficient, kinda “too” efficient for this price range. Overall: great experience, excellent food, would return anytime!!
Very good service. Had a couple of food issues. One of us ordered a bowl of soup, which he was told was gluten free - then it showed up with pieces of bread in it. The manager apologized, and comp'd his meal - very nice. Another ordered a filet, and didn't eat 1/2 of it. Said it tasted off - like they'd used some kind of seasoning on it which he said was almost like a Parmesan flavor. How do you mess up a filet? Sea Bass was good - not great. Which is what I'd say about the experience overall - good, but not great (and great is what I was hoping for given the prices there).
This is wonderful place to dine for any reason. The service and attention to detail is superb. The food is excellent with very generous portions. Loved the coffee and butter cake.
Food was delicious. I had the salmon and Caesar salad. We also shared the tater tots. They were delicious. Be prepared to pay...it’s not inexpensive. But was worth the splurge.
Dim the lights just a bit and play some decent dining music. I mean, at these prices I shouldn't have to tell you how to do it.
Great food and service but could have a bit more atmosphere. We were there on a Monday night, so we expected it to be quiet. However, there were only a few tables and no other background noise to speak of. A nice music set would have enhanced the mood.
Next time we will try a weekend.
