Ocean Prime - Indianapolis Ratings and Reviews
We went to Ocean Prime for my daughter's birthday. Three children and two adults. One of the teenagers has severe allergies to dairy and nuts. I spoke to the manager, Sarah, ahead of time to discuss options and to alert her. It was noted on our reservation and in the kitchen before we arrived. Our server was very aware and did an excellent job discussing options with us and then working with the kitchen to ensure he had a safe meal while ordering something he wanted. He was extremely happy, as was mom, and of course the birthday girl. We are very excited to add Ocean Prime to the short list of restaurants we are confident in to accommodate the special needs associated with the allergies.
This was a New Year's Eve dining experience. I reserved a table through Open Table in Mid-December.
Food and service are outstanding at Ocean Prime. There's really not much else to say, regarding the actual dining experience, and this is the most important issue.
The wine list is excellent, although the mark-up appears to be slightly higher than in other nearby restaurants.
We were disappointed in the seating. We were seated at a small round two-top that seemed to have been squeezed in as an afterthought. A large gentleman seated behind me knocked into my chair several times, all the while glaring at me as though I was the initiator.
When we were first seated, I requested a move to an empty four-top within a few feet of our table. That request was courteously denied, with the explanation that four-tops would be used only for groups of three or more. However, within two minutes, a couple ( two diners) was seated at the same table.
The thought did occur that perhaps those of us who make our reservations through channels other than directly through the restaurant are treated as less desirable customers. I hope this is not the case.
They sat us out in the bar area which was a nice setting. However, sitting beside the window covered in plexiglass was a little chilly initially. Thanks for having the over the head heaters. It took a while to warm up but still had a wonderful dinner for New Years.
Lamb and scallops were delicious. Felt the grouper lacked a little flavoring. Tartare was delicious.
New Years Eve dinner and it was wonderful. Great service and the food was top notch. Had the crab legs which were some of the best I’ve ever had. Wife had the scallops and loved them. Started with a great appetizer and shared house salad. House dressing was great. Finished with coffee and peanut butter chocolate pie that was incredible. Great meal and I wouldn’t hesitate to come back!
Disappointed. Too expensive for quality of food. Food lack taste and presentation. Shrimp cocktail was not de-veined properly and small. Less than half the size of Oceannaire. Waitress very personable but lacked attention. No chance to tell her our concerns over food quality. Will not ever return. Understand busy on New Year’s Eve but for $200 for wife and me expected more.
We received a gift card so went for an early supper. I found it to be very pricey. My filet was the highlight of the meal and very tasty. The sides were okay but nothing special. Our meal with tip was $225 for two people. Without a gift card I would never spend this much for a so so experience. Our waiter was excellent!
We dined here with family and from the moment we entered, we knew it was a lovely place. The ambience was so nice and cozy, and beautifully decorated. The wait staff and servers were very attentive and always available if we needed anything. The menu options were wonderful. Steaks are tasty and cooked to perfection. Everything from the appetizers, to the main course, to the desserts were delicious. And their drinks, you can tell they take pride in not only creating them but in the presentation. So happy to have spent the evening here with family. Will absolutely dine here again when I return to Indianapolis.
Ocean prime is an amazing restaurant in the Keystone neighborhood. While pricey, the food is exquisite with flavor profiles that are complex. Ive never had something i didnt like, but know that if i did the friendly staff would make it right. I cannot reccommend this restaurant enough.
We had an amazing time, Sammy, thank you for your time we will always request you. and her assistance were very professional but fun and entertaining. The lobster bisque was perfect and the dynamite roll was perfect. Steaks were melt in you mouth. We can not wait to go back. Thank you
We had a fantastic dinner. This was my first time at Ocean Prime. I couldn't be more pleased and will definitely return. Our waiter Darren was knowledgeable, courteous, and attentive to every detail. He had fantastic recommendations. He went out of his way to make it us special evening for us. The food was on par with the best you will find in town. Our tables meal was highlighted by lobster bisque, perfectly cooked steak, and delicious scallops. Can't wait for my next visit.
Probably because my "date" for the evening was just another girl, we weren't seated in the best place. Right by where the wait staff went into the kitchen. (I noticed the table next to us was 4 women, so they didn't get a great table either). I had been craving lobster since I had some at Sullivan's a few months ago on a date, so was splurging for myself for Christmas. The 2 lobster tails were tasty, but in no way filled me up for $49. The garlic mashed potatoes were also very good. We were still hungry (my friend had crab cakes which she liked a lot, but not much to them), so we each got a dessert. Her crème brulee and my chocolate cake were both amazing.(but really expensive).
So, the food was very good, but the lobster tails were a bit scrawny for the money....
We normally love Ocean Prime and overall had a nice dinner on the 22nd. Although our waiter greeted us and promissed to "take really good care" of us, he didn't quite keep his promise. Drinks were not refilled unless he was reminded, and even then we would have to ask more than once. My "rare" filet was medium well. I would have let him know if he had returned within a reasonable amount if time. Although we did indulge in the chocolate cake, it was not because he offerred desert to us. I suppose the disappointment came from expecting the same level of service we haved received in the past. Well definitely be back, but will make sure to request one of the other waiters.
Desmond was an exceptional waiter. He was knowledgeable about the menu questions. He was very friendly and honored our every request. We chose Ocean for my birthday dinner. It was a wonderful experience. I highly recommend this restaurant. Love it. Thank you. Kudos to Desmond and the chef.
Our second time. Food is always goo, although the entree portions are a bit small for the price. Some bread or rolls would have been nice. Service was excellent. Waiter was as attentive as necessary without being too much. Place was noisy due to all the Christmas groups on hand. Only go to high end restaurants on special occasions, and this is a great place.
We went to celebrate my birthday both wife and I had the surf and turf special - 8 oz filet and a seafood option. I had shrimp scampi and my wife had a crab cake. Ordered my filet medium rare and it was perfect. I recently had shoulder surgery and wondered how hard it would be to cut and it very easy. The server even offered to cut it for me if I had problems. This is our favorite seafood restaurant. We have always gotten great service along with great food. Because it was my birthday I got a free desert and I got the peanut butter pie which was delicious. A great way to spend my birthday.
