Ocean Prime - Indianapolis Ratings and Reviews
Dining room was very loud due to a large birthday group in the center of the room, not sure why they were put in the center, but aside from the noise level the food was much better than we remembered last year. Service was fine and overall we were pleased, but the noise was obnoxious at times.
We took our college age daughter there for her birthday. The staff greeted our daughter, complimented her appearance, treated her as an adult, brought her a special nonalcoholic beverage (that was cool!), and gave her a complimentary regular size dessert item. It was well worth the experience!! Thank you Ocean Prime!
Lori was a courteous & engaging server who provided us with excellent recommendations & ensured we had a wonderful evening. The goat cheese ravioli & chocolate peanut butter pie are not to be missed. Great French press coffee from Hubbard & Cravens too.
We were in town for a meeting and we thought we would give Ocean Prime a try based on favorable reviews. We were not disappointed. Our food was excellent. My wife had a special which was New Zealand salmon in a sauce she said was the best she had ever tasted. I had a Filet Mignon with bearnaise that was great. Carrot Cake for dessert was incredible. This was all topped off by our service. Our waiter Kenny was very attentive and knowledgeable and just as importantly he was friendly and a great person. If making a reservation I would recommend a request for Kenny.
We went to Ocean Prime for my daughter's birthday. Three children and two adults. One of the teenagers has severe allergies to dairy and nuts. I spoke to the manager, Sarah, ahead of time to discuss options and to alert her. It was noted on our reservation and in the kitchen before we arrived. Our server was very aware and did an excellent job discussing options with us and then working with the kitchen to ensure he had a safe meal while ordering something he wanted. He was extremely happy, as was mom, and of course the birthday girl. We are very excited to add Ocean Prime to the short list of restaurants we are confident in to accommodate the special needs associated with the allergies.
This was a New Year's Eve dining experience. I reserved a table through Open Table in Mid-December.
Food and service are outstanding at Ocean Prime. There's really not much else to say, regarding the actual dining experience, and this is the most important issue.
The wine list is excellent, although the mark-up appears to be slightly higher than in other nearby restaurants.
We were disappointed in the seating. We were seated at a small round two-top that seemed to have been squeezed in as an afterthought. A large gentleman seated behind me knocked into my chair several times, all the while glaring at me as though I was the initiator.
When we were first seated, I requested a move to an empty four-top within a few feet of our table. That request was courteously denied, with the explanation that four-tops would be used only for groups of three or more. However, within two minutes, a couple ( two diners) was seated at the same table.
The thought did occur that perhaps those of us who make our reservations through channels other than directly through the restaurant are treated as less desirable customers. I hope this is not the case.
They sat us out in the bar area which was a nice setting. However, sitting beside the window covered in plexiglass was a little chilly initially. Thanks for having the over the head heaters. It took a while to warm up but still had a wonderful dinner for New Years.
Lamb and scallops were delicious. Felt the grouper lacked a little flavoring. Tartare was delicious.
New Years Eve dinner and it was wonderful. Great service and the food was top notch. Had the crab legs which were some of the best I’ve ever had. Wife had the scallops and loved them. Started with a great appetizer and shared house salad. House dressing was great. Finished with coffee and peanut butter chocolate pie that was incredible. Great meal and I wouldn’t hesitate to come back!
Disappointed. Too expensive for quality of food. Food lack taste and presentation. Shrimp cocktail was not de-veined properly and small. Less than half the size of Oceannaire. Waitress very personable but lacked attention. No chance to tell her our concerns over food quality. Will not ever return. Understand busy on New Year’s Eve but for $200 for wife and me expected more.
We received a gift card so went for an early supper. I found it to be very pricey. My filet was the highlight of the meal and very tasty. The sides were okay but nothing special. Our meal with tip was $225 for two people. Without a gift card I would never spend this much for a so so experience. Our waiter was excellent!
