Ocean Prime - Boston Seaport Ratings and Reviews
This was our first time at Ocean Prime. Made a reservation for 2 at 7:45 the Saturday after Valentines Day to celebrate dual birthdays. We arrived a bit early and was sat at a table around 7:55. Good thing I made reservations in advance, the place was packed!
When making my reservation, I mentioned it was for a birthday. When we were sat, the hostess asked whose birthday it was and wished us well. Our server (I want to say his name was Alex or Allan but I could be wrong) promptly came over and was appropriately attentive except towards the end of the meal (he took a large private party in a nearby room).
At one point, the manager,Julie, came over to introduce herself and wish us happy birthday. She was visible the whole night which was comforting.
Our food came out on time and cooked to order. The steak was beautiful! We also were given a complimentary carrot cake with pineapple sauce. It was delicious although we were too full to finish.
I should warn that this isn’t a very intimate setting as the booths are half curved/open and it is quite loud. BUT, And I don’t ever say this, it was a great experience. Thoroughly enjoyed the food and service making the price worth it.
Both my partner and I agreed that we will have to return because we were both impressed and that rarely happens. I think we found our new favorite upscale steak place!
It was an immaculate experience dining with our group of friends and the birthday girl. Our first time there and the service and quality were beyond our means. Amy (the waitress) and the rest of the team were amazing, very attentive all night, filling our glasses and making the birthday girl feel extra special. We were very pleased and would recommend Ocean Prime to our many friends and family!!!
I had visited the Tampa restaurant traveling on business and had the most delicious sea bass that I wanted to bring my wife to the one closest to us in Boston. We sat at the bar at a perfectly rounded corner seat. There was a great vibe. The truffle popcorn was a perfect starter with the Prime margaritas. The Prime sushi was very tasty and not too much cream cheese, bus smaller than I remember. Our entrees were a disappointment. My "melt in my mouth" sea bass was too well done (possibly due to the flatter cut of fish-not a center cut) and my wife's filet was more of a tail piece and was overlooked for medium. The flavors of my dish with the sauce, whipped potatoes, and asparagus were spot on. I love that you offer a half order of a side and the broccoli was perfectly cooked and sized. Looking forward to going back to give it another chance.
The food was delicious and they have a phenomenal band...however, we were very disappointed in the fact that we made a reservation in advance on open table and it wasn’t honored. There are multiple options for seating on open table, one of those being bar seating, which was selected and reserved for two. When we arrived at a very crowded restaurant and mentioned our reservation for two at the bar they informed us that they don’t have reservations for the bar....you can call ahead and put your name on a list but can’t reserve. We proceeded to show the reservation made on open table where it was clearly labeled the difference between a bar seat vs a table in the drop down menu and the hostess said “we don’t do that”. We ended up at a table and had a nice dinner but if the restaurant is not participating in something you offer, it should not be on the app.
I dont get into boston as much as i would like to and when i do i look for a new restaurant that i have not been too. So when i saw the menu on line and did a little reading about Ocean Prime i decided to try it. I am glad i did, it was wonderful, food was great as well as the service and I would defiantly go back and recommend to a friend.
This was my first time here, and I liked the restaurant very much. The Staff was very helpful and friendly. The food was great, and the atmosphere in the bar was fun. The band was excellent too on Friday night. I would suggest to friends. And will definitely be going again.
The overall experience was great. Our server, Ivana I believe, was awesome and made our birthday celebration memorable. The only thing I would comment on is my steak. I ordered it to be medium plus but it came out more like medium. It was still a delicious steak, but I prefer medium plus as a temperature. The cosmos I had were super delicious. The server gave them to me with dry ice which made a great bubbly effect. Definitely try cocktails there!!!
It was definitely a fantastic birthday dinner!
Not sure what happened to Ocean Prime’s Boston location. Going in the wrong direction since it opened in 2016. I travel and have enjoyed their other locations and was excited when they opened a Boston location. Have dined here about 20 times since they opened.
In the last 6 months I feel they are loosing their identity and standards. It was noticeable to me in subtle ways at first, but tonight was simply awful.
Had an 8:30pm reservation. Seated at 9pm. Had the air conditioning on all night when it was 20 degrees outside. Asked the hostess to move us to another table and was told it was the AC and would turn it off. Asked our server three more times and finally gave up...
Apps showed up cold at 9:45pm.
Then a 12 top shows up at 10pm and sat next to us. From that point on, I spent the rest of the night pouring my own wine and staring at dirty dishes and empty water glasses.
Every time I have dined at Ocean Prime regardless of the location someone from management always has stopped by to check on dinner and out experience. Tonight was one of those nights when no one really cared about the quality or the experience. The men’s and ladies room had not been cleaned for hours and were beyond filthy. Not sure if management uses those facilities but can not believe they didn’t notice their condition.
So sad. The company invested a lot to open this location. I hope it can pull out of the nose dive it seems to be in.
