In the heart of this mostly residential enclave, in a converted circa-1895 Shingle Style house, sits Ocean. Though the Inn has existed in one permutation or another since the 1950s, and it has long held a reputation for well-appointed lodgings and fine dining. The Innkeepers have filled the building with a striking art collection that could make small New England museums envious, while Chef Gignac uses the dining room—with its awe-inspiring views—as a canvas upon which to create epicurean masterpieces. Pierre Gignac graduated from the Institut d’Hôtellerie et de Tourisme du Québec. Pierre chose to open his first restaurant in Ogunquit, Maine “98 Provence," which pleased locals, tourists and critics for 18 years, until it closed in 2012.

Ocean Ratings and Reviews
We had a little trouble finding this restaurant until we called and learned it was part of the Cape Arundel Inn. The location is terrific, but the parking was limited. Lucky we got there early. The food was delicious and prepared perfectly except for 2 minor omissions that were quickly set right. The oysters were fresh and tender, but served with a grapefruit sauce that was odd. They brought us some horseradish which was how we enjoyed them. The second was when we ordered Irish Coffee and the waiter brought just that; coffee with some Irish Whiskey in it...but soon brought out some sweetened cream to top it off . All in all a lovely dinner in gorgeous setting with attentive service,
Very nice location with great view of Walker Point and ocean. Lovely, elegant place. Enjoyed having cocktails on porch before dining. We didn't even realize it but the Bushes (Sr. & Barbara) were diagonally across from us at dinner. The greens salad and lobster dish were uniquely good as was the chocolate dessert of the evening. The service was uneven - seemed like our waiter was preoccupied elsewhere.
I had the tuna and it was wonderful. The only slight complaint was the bok choy was a bit gritty. The sauce was amazing, as were the spring rolls. The hit of the night was the chocolate dessert. It was the best I have ever tasted and would go back for that alone. My friend had the cod, both meals were the specials for the night and they did not disappoint. She loved her grilled veggies and we ate every last bite! We have been before, and will go again. Had a nice bottle of wine on the porch before dinner, with views that are unsurpassed!
We own a house in Kennebunkport, we dine regularly at Ocean ,Tides and Earth. We love all of them. The advantage Ocean has over the other 2 is their staff. The waiters at Tides and Earth are always changing and not very knowledgeable. The waiters at Ocean are the best; very professional and they know what they are talking about. The female waitress who served us last time even recognized us. Highly recommend Ocean!
The server was very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of insight into the food selection and preparation. Although very busy, she found time to deliver the food in a timely manner and checked back on a regular basis. Ambiance was excellent and the views great. Menu is pricey but presentation was excellent. We would certainly recommend this restaurant for an upscale dining experience.
Being vegetarian we were very disappointed in the menu. Apparently the wait staff thinks vegetarian means all we want is salad since it's what she pointed out when we asked about a meal. Turns out we should have listened to her. Sadly the meal was nothing to rave about. Noodles and veggies. No imagination. The meat eaters in our party were happy with their meals though. The beet salad is fabulous! If we go again (mainly for the ambiance) we will make a meal of salads.....Which really is kind of sad for a restaurant now a days.
Service excellent was excellent. They brought us complimentary glasses of champagne when we mentioned it was our anniversary.
Room has great view, nicely spaced tables very comfortable.
Very nice menu choices more variety than I often see. Hard to decide but everything looked great.
Only item we didn't love was a dessert selection as the cake was not a favorite, but the accompanying ice cream was excellent.
We would go back again.
We have no words to describe the perfection of Ocean. We look so forward to our yearly get away with the thought of this restaurant as our very special night out while on vacation. The people, food, and the ambience can not compare to anything a must for all thinking about it.
we like this place....but first they brought me the wrong order, so we dealt with that....it turned out okay....my real compaint is with my wife's fillet mignon....it came cut in half...alright, but it was hard to slice and somewhat chewy to eat....not a good cut of filet mignon and certainly not for the hefty price.....sorry to say
One of the best meals we have had in a long time. It was our first anniversary and definitely one we will always remember thanks to the Ocean restaurant. They even brought us champagne to toast! The server was so knowledgeable, but also relaxed and kind. Gorgeous views of the ocean and very intimate setting. Can't wait to go back!
We returned to Ocean to celebrate our anniversary again this summer. The experience was not quite as good as we found it to be last year. The noise level was too high, my filet mignon was fatty, my husband's swordfish was dry. But presentation was nice and as always service was very good.
Dining at Ocean Restruant is a celebration in itself with 360* views of the Atlantic Ocean. The well trained staff offers perfect hospitality and the most divine food. Chef Pierre Gignac's French inspired creations will delight the most discerning of palettes. Not only are the dishes delectable the presentation is spectacular. Laura P assisted at our table and made my husbands birthday an evening to remember. Thank you for a five star dining experience!
The ambiance and service was outstanding. Had not been there in 10 years and loved the renovations. The menu offered many excellent choices. The heirloom tomato and burrata cheese salad was excellent. We both had the cod special which was excellent but expensive. Not a place I could afford on a regular basis but outstanding for a special occasion.
