Went to Ocean to celebrate New Years Eve. The menu was fixed with five courses. It was very lively, the food was fabulous, and we enjoyed the band. New Years Eve at Ocean is becoming a tradition
You have to see the view to believe it here! Our food, 7 courses, was exceptional, had a red and a white bottle and both were very good. It's expensive, but I think worth it.
Very nice meal. The restaurant overlooks the ocean, and the Bush Compound. The service was excellent.
We had a most excellent dining experience at Ocean. Everyone was professional and very personable. We felt welcomed by every staff member even though we were not overnight guests at the Cape Arundel hotel. The cocktails were hand-crafted and delicious, the service was the best we have experienced in a long time (thank you Anna for making our evening so special), and the meals were as pleasing to the eye as they were to our palates. I loved the pistachio encrusted swordfish and my husband really enjoyed his coq au vin. We never felt rushed. Don't skip dessert as they are amazing as well! We loved everything about our evening there and look forward to going back - perhaps when the sun doesn't set so early as the ocean views are amazing.
My wife and I recently had dinner at a Thomas Keller restaurant of The French Laundry fame. We would rate our experience at Ocean to be superior in terms of creativity and taste of food, ambiance and service. One of the best dining experiences we've ever had the pleasure to enjoy. Thank you to everyone at Ocean. Well be back.
Incredible meal fantastic setting best service, one of the best all around dinners we have ever had !!!!
I thought the drinks were a bit over-priced. $14.00, even for a created-while-you-watch cocktail is a little steep in my estimation. But our server was reasonably attentive without being intrusive, and our meals were excellent. We will go there again.
My husband and I always have dinner at Ocean whenever we are in the Kennebunkport area, it is truly an exceptional dining experience. The staff are warm and attentive and never pretentious. Sometimes we bring our 5 year old son with us for an early dinner, we are always made to feel welcome as a family. The restaurant is beautiful inside, with a spectacular view of the Maine coast. The food is amazing, perfectly cooked with a creative blend of flavors, textures and colors. On our last visit during Prelude, my husband had the swordfish with pistachio crust, I had the lobster. The lobster is a work of art and tastes better than it looks. The swordfish was one of the best my husband ever had, even mentioning that all of the vegetables were cooked perfectly. For desert we decided to share the special poached pear napoleon, it was so good! We will be back soon!
We had a lovely evening at Ocean for our 30th wedding anniversary. Our server, Anna, was wonderful and attentive and the food was exceptional.
Always a pleasure. Great food and service in a comfortable atmosphere with a great view.
After a day of holiday shopping in Kennebunkport my wife and I enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Ocean. We had the three cheese platter for an appetizer and our three selections were delicious. My wife had the lobster special while I had the sword fish and both meals were cooked to perfection. The swordfish melted in my mouth - well done!
Our server Celina did an excellent job. Well worth the trip from Pennsylvania!
Our dining experience couldn’t have been better the food, ambience and service we’re absolutely awesome.
Congratulations! I give our thanksgiving dining experience a 10+ on all accounts! I don’t do that often. I will become a regular customer. Thank you for a delightful holiday meal.
Another delicious Thanksgiving dinner - thank you!
A beautiful spot for a wonderful dinner. The service was outstanding and friendly. It was the Sunday before Thanksgiving so there were only a few people in the restaurant so it was very quiet but still cozy and warm. A beautiful fireplace greets you as you walk in to the building. A great spot to linger over a cocktail. Although it was dark out when we dined the views are outstanding when light out - the crashing surf and the Walker Compound. My husband had the pistachio crusted swordfish and was probably the best he had ever had (even better than mine). It came steaming hot out of the kitchen. I had the duck breast and duck sausage rolled in pastry with bok choy and a wonderful sauce. The salad was excellent, with a maple balsamic dressing - very light, and micro flowers. The pricing was fair. This is not an inexpensive restaurant but it is also not ridiculously priced either. Two entrees, one salad, and three drinks came to $138 before tip. This was very fair considering the quality of food and service we received. It will definitely be our "go to" place when in Kennebunkport.
We came here to celebrate our 25th anniversary and it was wonderful. The staff was warm and welcoming, and the food superb. We highly recommend the Lobster Thermidor, Pistachio Crusted Swordfish and Lamb Duo - all were out of this world!
Everything was perfect! What an incredible caring staff! From the complimentary bubbly to the special dessert they brought us...couldn’t have been a more special anniversary dinner! Thank you!!
Ocean is a truly special dining experience. From the moment you walk into the inn, to a complimentary glass of bubbly to the final chocolate truffle and everything in between, it does not disappoint. Our special dinner was well executed, perfectly cooked, and creatively presented.
Service was top notch professional without being stuffy or pretentious. Maine is lucky to have such a luxurious dining room. Even though Pierre, long time chef and creator of this fine dining experience has moved on, he has left his footprint and magic touch. Hopefully Ocean will continue to maintain the current exceptionally high standards.
My swordfish was over cooked, diet cola was flat, I'm 6'3" sat a a postage stamp table and paid over $200 with tip.
Ocean is a favorite for me and my wife. The service and food are always excellent. Staff is friendly and welcoming, always making us feel very special and valued. Menu offers a wide variety of choices that always meet or exceed our expectations.
Anna was a wonderful server; we thoroughly enjoyed the ENTIRE ‘Ocean’ experience !
Pricey but, well worth it. View and ambiance are a given. The food was exceptional. The staff very attentive and helpful.
Excellent food, attentive, friendly service. Simple/limited menu, but something for every appetite. Very quiet. Our reservation was for 7:15. Reasonably full when we arrived, but only one other table occupied when we left. It was dark when we arrived, but I am sure the views are spectacular. I would definitely go back.
Second time at Ocean. Arrived too late for sunset. Next time will go for view as well as food. Excellent crab veloute. Wonderful lobster with roasted vegetables and beet root gnocchi. Great service.
The view of the ocean was amazing. The lamb dish I had was definitely five star. I would definitely dine at Ocean again. The service however was not as attentive as one would expect from this caliber of restaurant. For example, my sparkling water was not replenished and I had to put it myself which at a normal restaurant would be fine but not at a fine dining experience that this restaurant caters to. The ambiance and quality of the dishes was top notch. I believe they needed more wait staff to serve each table at a higher level.
exquisite dining experience. amazing ocean view, top tier . OUR FAVORITE MAINERESTAURANT(caps intended).
We celebrated our 34th anniversary at Ocean. Ana greeted us with friendliness and warmth as she gifted us with prosecco because "you need bubbly for the anniversary." The pace of the meal was perfect. The ocean views are outstanding, which is why you should reserve an early seating to take advantage of those views and the sunset. Nicely balanced menu, especially if one does not like seafood or meat. Ana topped off our evening with sorbet. By far, this was the best anniversary dinner we have ever experienced.
Absolutely delightful experience to celebrate our anniversary while in Kennebunkport. Our dinner selections were simply delicious and our service from Adam was perfection. Definitely a must dining experience when you are in the area!
This is the second time dining at Ocean when we have been in Maine. We look forward to this part of our trip. The food was delish though the menu items can be a bit heavy and rich - would like to see some 'lighter' choices maybe with more delicate sauces? The crab 'soup' is something extraordinary, along with the beet salad. Beautiful restaurant with an outstanding view of the ocean. Wonderful service as well!
Delicious and unique food preparation! Definitely would make this a destination on our next visit to Kennebunkport!
What a gem, from the stunning views to the exemplary food! We had a fantastic time—definitely the best lobster we’d ever had, and so beautifully presented!
This is our go to place each time we come to Kennebunkport. Food is always well prepared and delicious; the view out over the Atlantic Ocean and Walker''s Point is outstanding; service is always spot on; and the drinks are great. Highly recommend
Wonderful ambiance, great food, attentive, kind, and knowledgeable service staff.
Lobster Thermidor is outstanding!!! The Cod was supreme !!!
My husband and I celebrated our 44th wedding anniversary at Ocean recently. They have an extensive and fabulous wine selection and our dinner was so memorable. I will say that the only negative thing about our entire experience was parking and having to navigate our way through the back entrance... it was confusing, and we were not the only people who were lost.
Ocean is one of our favorite restaurants! We highly recommend it. The food is special.
We stayed at the hotel and the food was outstanding
Amazing experience! The food was excellent. View was incredible!!!
Celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary! Beautiful setting outstanding food and service! Thank you for making our 25th memorable!
My wife and I had a wonderful experience with our server Ana. She was attentive, provided confident suggestions and did everything she could to provide us with a wonderful experience. The food impressed both our eyes and palates. The Monkfish was sweet and light in texture. My wife’s lobster was beautifully arranged with a paint brush stroke of beet purée and other rooted veggies. This was our first time to Ocean, and Maine for that matter. We will certainly return to The Cape Arundel Inn and resort!
