Ocean Blvd Bistro and Martini Bar Ratings and Reviews
All was good except we barely !!!sat down the waiter rattled down the specials . It took us a few seconds what he was telling us. That did not sit well with us. In your type of Restaurant we would expect to be seated then after a few minutes being asked if we cared for a drink and when the drinks were delivered then the waiter should/could ask if we would like to hear the Specials. It felt like we were at a fast food restaurant however the food was great and the price justified
This review concerns the Ocean Blvd Bistro paired wine dinner for New Years Eve. We had been looking for a New Years Eve replacement for the paired wine dinner at Elizabeth's Cafe in Duck, since it closed two years ago. We had a great time and the food and service were excellent. Our only suggestion concerns the size of the food portions. For a five course dinner with paired wines, the food portions were too large. We suggest reducing portion size and using any budget savings to upgrade the wine. This would hopefully improve the quality of this NYE event and maintain the price-break, so it is still affordable. Overall, the best thing I can say is, "we will be back".
I went to a New Years Eve dinner with 4 friends. We were seated promptly and drink orders taken very quickly. For the occasion, the restaurant had created a 5 course dinner with a nice choice of dishes to choose from. Every course was beautifully arranged and delicious! This is my third New Years Eve dinner at Ocean Boulevard and one of my favorites every time I visit the Outer Banks! Highly recommend!
We love Ocean Boulevard. We are never disappointed. The service is always spot on. The food is creative and nicely presented. We have only once ordered something that missed the mark. It was a soup that was trying to accomplish too many things -- a spicy Thai butternut squash shrimp bisque. It had a LOT going on. It may have been more our palate than the soup itself. However, the spicy wild boar meatballs and cheddar ale made up for it! We look forward to our next visit.
Ocean Boulevard has been our favorite place to go in OBX. It was the first place we ate when we first can to OBX and we continue to go back. This time we were a little disappointed. Our server Heather was distracted and inattentive. We usually experience excellent service so this was unusual. Food was good but not quite the 5 stars we've experienced in the past. The Jerk pork shank was a disappointing, but the lamb was very good. The appetizers of wild boar meatballs was terrific as were the veal short ribs .
We will be back because it's our favorite. We go every year once or twice and usually give it 5 stars.
The food was positively wonderful. We were a group of five and everyone enjoyed there meals. Appetizers were awesome and so were the martinis, deserts also were wonderful I’m still thinking about our dining experience at ocean boulevard bistro and martini bar.
Thank you all for making our dining experience a memorable one. Will be back soon. Thanks again
Food and food choices are always the best. Only complaint would be that we had to sit for some time before the waiter returned to fill our glasses (tea), and more than once. THat is definitely a pet peeve for me. The place was not that crowded. But after a larger party came in and they were drinking wine, appetizers, etc, which equates to a bigger tip, I think we became an afterthought to our waiter.
This is our "go to" restaurant for special occasions! Have never disappointed us. The food is exceptional and the service correct. The restaurant offers a sophisticated but relaxed atmosphere. A very successful establishment that offers a superior dining experience. My wife and I highly recommend dining here.
Thanksgiving Made Easy
We decided to try the Thanksgiving dinner at the Ocean Blvd Bistro due to packed schedules, coming in from out-of-town for the holidays, etc. We were pleasantly surprised with the fixed price four course dinner, which included several options for each course. We went with the shrimp and grits first course, followed by a soup course, and a traditional Thanksgiving turkey course, plus dessert, a yummy chocolate mousse. Everything was excellent. Great wine list too. The portions were overwhelmingly huge, we ended up taking the main course home. Food quality was very good, service outstanding. Would definitely go back.
The food was tasty but the price was steep for turkey, yams, roasted potatoes, a salad, an appetizer and dessert. The coffee wasn't included in the $60.00+ price tag. By the time you add in bar drinks and coffee we were at $90.00 per meal with tip. I would suggest some Thanksgiving decorations as well. We eat here about 6-8 times per year and believe more could have been done to make it feel more festive, more like a holiday.
We enjoyed another great evening at Ocean Blvd. It was restaurant week and we all sampled the specials on the menu: pumpkin soup starter was excellent with a nice spice to it. The catfish and Bison meatloaf were well prepared and quite tasty. Martinis and a wonderful red wine blend were enjoyed by all. Heather and Donny continue to raise the bar with personalized service and top notch cuisine.
This was our second visit to this unpretentious outer banks restaurant. Our table was near the open kitchen and we enjoyed watching the well choreographed work of chef's team.
From a very creative menu of staples supplemented by nightly specials, we enjoyed excellent food and superb service on a busy Friday evening from our server, Heather. She was very knowledgeable about the menu offerings, and while working with several tables was able to keep service timely.
We ordered wine from a wine list that was in addition to the wines listed on the menu. The price ($42) seemed to good to be true for this central coast pinot noir. When the bill arrived, the price ($55) was indeed more in line with what I would have expected. We didn't dispute this, but would suggest wine menu prices and vintages be up to date.
For the second year in a row, O Bistro was our favorite meal in the OBX. Last year we enjoyed great entrees and this year we decided to got the small plate route.
Each dish was a unique treat. Our choices were the shrimp and grits, the Ahi tuna and a boar meatball over pasta special.
Again, we found a great wine on the list. This year a 2011 Malbec.
Service is excellent as is the atmosphere.
Very nice birthday meal with my girlfriends and they provided a wonderful birthday desert! Food was inspired and creative with perfect seasoning (not too salty!) Salad was abundant and tasty dressing on the side. Service was impeccable.
The only down side was it was very loud and there was no music that Saturday night while we were there.
Otherwise, a great experience and wonderful place.
Ocean Blvd is a staple to our visit to the Outer Banks. Every year we schedule our Friday night date here. This year as every year the staff, the ambiance, and the food were outstanding. Heather is our go to waitress and for good reason, she know her customers. This year's visit we were suggested to try the bean soup as one of the appetizers, we were not disappointed. We look forward to next visit. Thank you M&M SHEPARD
My wife and I celebrated our 36th wedding anniversary at Ocean Blvd. The atmosphere was very nice, the staff was attentive, and the food was exceptional. Martinis followed by wine, and a beer ( or 2 ) for me..It was a very special night, with a very special Lady!
Thanks Donny and staff for making our Anniversary such a wonderful evening!
