Ocean Blvd Bistro and Martini Bar Ratings and Reviews
We enjoyed another great evening at Ocean Blvd. It was restaurant week and we all sampled the specials on the menu: pumpkin soup starter was excellent with a nice spice to it. The catfish and Bison meatloaf were well prepared and quite tasty. Martinis and a wonderful red wine blend were enjoyed by all. Heather and Donny continue to raise the bar with personalized service and top notch cuisine.
This was our second visit to this unpretentious outer banks restaurant. Our table was near the open kitchen and we enjoyed watching the well choreographed work of chef's team.
From a very creative menu of staples supplemented by nightly specials, we enjoyed excellent food and superb service on a busy Friday evening from our server, Heather. She was very knowledgeable about the menu offerings, and while working with several tables was able to keep service timely.
We ordered wine from a wine list that was in addition to the wines listed on the menu. The price ($42) seemed to good to be true for this central coast pinot noir. When the bill arrived, the price ($55) was indeed more in line with what I would have expected. We didn't dispute this, but would suggest wine menu prices and vintages be up to date.
For the second year in a row, O Bistro was our favorite meal in the OBX. Last year we enjoyed great entrees and this year we decided to got the small plate route.
Each dish was a unique treat. Our choices were the shrimp and grits, the Ahi tuna and a boar meatball over pasta special.
Again, we found a great wine on the list. This year a 2011 Malbec.
Service is excellent as is the atmosphere.
Very nice birthday meal with my girlfriends and they provided a wonderful birthday desert! Food was inspired and creative with perfect seasoning (not too salty!) Salad was abundant and tasty dressing on the side. Service was impeccable.
The only down side was it was very loud and there was no music that Saturday night while we were there.
Otherwise, a great experience and wonderful place.
Ocean Blvd is a staple to our visit to the Outer Banks. Every year we schedule our Friday night date here. This year as every year the staff, the ambiance, and the food were outstanding. Heather is our go to waitress and for good reason, she know her customers. This year's visit we were suggested to try the bean soup as one of the appetizers, we were not disappointed. We look forward to next visit. Thank you M&M SHEPARD
My wife and I celebrated our 36th wedding anniversary at Ocean Blvd. The atmosphere was very nice, the staff was attentive, and the food was exceptional. Martinis followed by wine, and a beer ( or 2 ) for me..It was a very special night, with a very special Lady!
Thanks Donny and staff for making our Anniversary such a wonderful evening!

We were promptly sedated at 6:30 and our waiter was our table with water and fresh bread shortly after that. We both ordered appetizers. I had the chicken livers which were nicely fried and served with some pickled veggies, corn bread wedge and a very tasty citrus/mayo sauce. My husband had the fried green tomatoes which were served with a small salad portion. His appetizer had a nice flavor but he thought the tomato slices were too thick for this type of dish. For our entrees, we both ordered the lamb ribs. This was an excellent dish. A generous serving of six lamb chops in rack presentation was accompanied by fresh grape tomatoes, feta cheese, zucchini, and smashed pan fried potatoes. We both enjoyed the dinner. The only issue I had was with the seats which were metal park bench style and were a little tough on our senior bones. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant.
Such a delightful evening! Our waitress, Kim,was lovely.....and our appetizers and entrees were delicious! We had tuna...fab! And duck breast...absolutely fantastic! We finished the evening with cappuccino and Irish coffee....we were not rushed at all. Definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys gourmet food.
Have been going to this restaurant every year [sometimes 2 or 3 times in a 2 week vacation] since they opened. Always - ALWAYS - excellent food, especially the duck. Service usually good; seating is uncomfortable [park benches!] and tables seem more crammed together than ever before.
We had a constant, generous serving of "waiter's butt" as he tried to slide between our table and the one next to us - every time he bent over, he bumped our table or our water glasses with his rear end. Seriously: the tables were only 10 inches apart.
That said - we'll go again next year and hope for a better table. And have the duck - the best I have ever tasted.
This was our first visit to Ocean Blvd. altho we have been OBX vacationers for 17 years.
we usually come in the summer to S. Nags Head and the trek to this location in just too long with the summer crowd. This year we came in early September so the traffic was less and we ventured out. We were not disappointed and will return when we are up again the in the off season. We did not sit outside, where the was live music, yes, even on a Tuesday night, as it was rather windy. I did observe that they had seating outside and I imagine that the live music makes the wait bearable. We both ordered the specials, both were good, but I think mine, which was a curry based dish won the day. Nice to have something other than just blackened fish for dinner. Their corkage fee was $15.00, which is bearable.
The food was very tasty, but given the small serving sizes, it cost about twice as much as we were happy to pay. Additionally, the service was quite poor. It took perhaps half an hour to order, and the "appetizer" bread didn't arrive until the main course, when we asked after it. Perhaps on another night we would have had a better experience, but I have to say I wouldn't go back.
