Ocean @ The Crescent Beach Club
Set within one of Long Island’s most spectacular waterfront venues, Ocean provides guests with an unparalleled dining experience and setting. The restaurant’s architecture, which includes floating sculptures of fish chasing squid through the dining room is bettered only by the panoramic views of the Atlantic waters as they arrive on the beach of the Long Island Sound.
The re-conceptualised new American menu is an unpretentious and honest approach to using quality products (both seasonal and organic) by skilled artisans in a way to provide the best epicurean experience. Our professional and devoted service will make any occasion worth remembering.
Came here for our anniversary. (we actually got married at the Crescent Beach Club). I will start by saying, the food was excellent, and our waiter was as friendly as can be. However, the hostess was a bit cold, (she came up to other tables and asked if they were OK or wanted to move because of the wind while skipping over us) and then the bartender upstairs seemed to be annoyed by us wanting to order a drink at the bar post dinner. WE then overheard, that our anniversary is badly timed since the restaurant was now closing for the season. That would explain the annoyance and why many of the staff seemed to have 'checked out.'
The experience definitely left a bad taste, may not go back, at least not for another anniversary celebration.
Ocean is an incredibly special oasis. For a couple of hours it was like being on vacation with a spectacular view, delicious food and great service!
I love their lobster salad. It used to be on the dinner menu as lobster sliders, but now is only on the lunch or bar menu. I like the dining room and can only get there for dinner. So please put the lobster sliders back on the dinner menu.
Stellar brunch and service!
Beautiful restaurant on the water with a nice size deck and great view of the beach. Had the brunch which was very good, but, portions were small. Service was good.
Very nice place 😋😋😋
Enjoyed everything. Waitress was wonderful
First time visit, and definitely will be visiting again.... great view and ambience
Sushi was delicious but entrees were just ok. Spicy shrimp with quinoa was just shrimp over quinoa smothered with sweet-spicy chili sauce and was not good at all. I definitely don’t recommend. Strip steak was delicious but was over cooked and had to be recooked in the kitchen. Entrees also took extremely long to come out. The manager also argued with me about the steak I had sent back to the kitchen. In the end he refunded us for the steak. The ambiance was nice with a great view but in no way is this fine dining. It’s a nice romantic spot for a nice sushi date or a salad but that’s it.
My husband and I went on a Thurs night 2 weeks ago for their Lobster Special $38 pp for glass of wine or beer , soup or salad , 1 1/2 lb lobster , roasted potatoes, corn on the cob , string beans and dessert bread pudding with ice cream or fresh berries and cream . Drew was our amazing waiter and we ordered our drinks and dinner to be informed they had run out of lobster . We were so disappointed as we were salivating all day thinking of dipping out lobster tail into the melted butter . We stayed due to our friendly and enjoyable service , beautiful sunset and pretty ambience of Ocean. Drew felt badly and bought us 2 rounds of drinks and we had a delicious meal of snapper . Mel the Mgr. came over to our table and we were chatting about how disappointed we were not to have the lobster special so he graciously offered us to return before 9/28 when it ends for a complimentary Lobster Special dinner on him. We returned this past Thurs. and treated like VIP and had amazing Drew again as our waiter and the food and evening was a 10. Highly recommend Ocean especially on a beautiful weather evening . High kudos to the entire staff starting with Mgr. Mel, Chef David , Drew , Amanda the hostess and the entire staff. Will be back soon due to the highest of customer service .
If you’re looking for a beautiful setting with inedible food and horrible service, then check it out. It has potential given the scenery... food left us sick the next day. Appetizer didn’t come up til almost the end. Everyone’s meals came out at different times. It was rushed, yet the place was empty.
Booked our table through Open Table without any issues. Valet guys at the restaurant were friendly. Hostess seated us as soon as we arrived. We very patiently waited at our table for about 15 minutes before I asked Management where our server was. Our server finally greeted us 10 minutes later. We placed our drink and food order at the same time as we didn’t know when our server would return again. Service was terrible that day...at least for our table it was. Hence 10% gratuity instead of my normal 20-25%. Despite the terrible service, our meal was delicious. I would still recommend Ocean for Sunday Brunch just as long as you don’t mind waiting....waiting....waiting.
The steak was so tough that a steak knife would not cut it
Food was great. View was even better. Service was good until the end. Took forever to get the check and then to get change back. One thing I did not enjoy, but it was no fault of the restaurant, there was a wedding on the beach and guests were socializing outside. Smokers were allowed to smoke outside I guess and the wind took it right up to the restaurant where we were eating. Again, not fault of the restaurant, but was not pleasant to have that wave of smoke billow up during our meal.
Food was really good and atmosphere was outstanding. You feel like you are away on vacation when you are there.
The views are five stars plus. The food 2 to 3 stars. Service also 2 to 3 stars. It’s a beautiful, beautiful location. One of the best in the extended area. The food is hit or miss. Service can be very good but more often than not, it’s delivered by untrained, college students or an overworked server who has too many tables. Considering the prices, this should not be.
We were there Saturday night, 4 people. An average offering of drinks and wine was made very promptly. Things then slowed down. We weren’t in a hurry, and did want to enjoy the views and company. But, there’s a difference between a leisurely meal and ridiculously slow to get someone’s attention. As to food, their Caesar salad is always a hit. The tuna tartare was good, But the muscles were not. They were a poor consistency and just not appetizing. Maybe they should consider PEI mussels for the future? The burger was very good and the special of the evening, halibut was good, but not great. They also have a bar upstairs with indoor and outdoor seating and a bar menu, which is usually our preference. I’d say it’s a definite go to for the view & magnificent sunsets, which are worth the inconsistent yet pricey food & service. Abundant valet parking s available.
Sat outside, view was outstanding at sunset. Can get very noisy especially if there is a wedding reception being held. Food was excellent if not a bit pricey. Service was outstanding.
The view is amazing... felt like I was in the Caribbean ( kinda😜) Despite our entree came out cold; they couldn’t do enough fir us and offered an after dinner drink for the inconvenience. James, the manager was a delight!
We were at the Ocean a few weeks ago and loved it, despite some issues with slow service. Having sat outside last time, I requested the same again. We arrived on time but outdoor seating was at least a 45 minute wait. The hostess, after a few minutes, was kind enough to seat us at a beautiful table with a spectacular view from inside , and James came over to say hello and to make sure we were happy. Our waiter Drew was very warm and courteous. We ordered wine and appetizers and salad to start. My delicious Cabernet was served Warm! It took forever to get our waiter back, who explained that unfortunately the bottle was kept in the HOT kitchen and thus the warm temperature. I asked for the unorthodox, some ice, to bring my wine to room temperature. The flatbread and salad were delicious, despite having to send the salad back because we had ordered the feta on the side but it was not served that way. OK, we were still remaining positive .... and we waited and waited and waited..... for our entrees. Finally, they arrived... the branzino and the special surf and turf, with cold sides that had to be sent back. The surf and turf was truly delicious, as was the branzino, which was so tiny you could barely see it. The waiter apologized and comped my second glass of wine ( which he somehow brought to room temperature ) and an iced tea. At this point we chose not to order coffee or dessert. And the bill arrived. We dine out at least five nights a week and have no problem with price. HOWEVER, we were absolutely shocked to see the price of the special at $70! Shouldn’t that have been mentioned???
All in all, it’s a beautiful restaurant, a great chef, and so much going for it. I only hope the service can be reviewed and improved!
I would recommend this place with some reservations. Our table was in a perfect spot. Didn't have clear view of sunset but were happy to be out f hot sun. Sky was still pretty and we got up to see sunset. Our problem was with the service. Not sure it was even the waitress's fault. Why did the male bringing bread to other tables not bring out to our waitress's tables without being reminded several times? Why did the 2 appetizers we ordered to share come out 15 min apart? Waitress kept apologizing for all the mixups but it seemed to be too many. Even the wrong drink was sent to one of my companions.. Food was pricey and some portions were on the small side. My spicy shrimp and quinoa was good. Seems the burger may have been the best value. I might come back for the specials in lounge. Good company and location made this a pleasant evening though.
The staff, from hostess to servers to the managers were extremely friendly and accommodating. The view is incomparable and the food is fantastic. The location is a little out of the way for me, but it’s always worth the drive. They also host corporate and private events. Ask for Linda Marie if you want to book something. She is the best and really works with you to give you the most for your budget. I host my networking events there all the time. It’s a great change of pace from the run-of-the-mill business event venues.
Even though I gave a low score I would give them another chance because the atmosphere was very beautiful and relaxing. I was not crazy about the food, if you go order something simple. The manager was very nice I just think he needs a better team behind him.
We drove from the city for the Lobster Special and were so excited to have delicious lobster . We ordered our drinks
with Drew and then found out “We ran out of lobster “ we ended up eating the mahi mahi which was very good . The manager invited us back for a complimentary Thurs. night “Lobster Night “ good until the end of Sept. We will get there one day .
From start to finish...OUTSTANDING. We sat outside to catch the sunset & it was such a spectacular view. The service and food was on point as far as delicious and your water never being empty. Nothing short of AMAZING...definitely one of my best restaurants to date...will certainly return.
We waited 75 minutes for our food, from the time we placed our order. People kept apologizing and bringing more bread, but we waited far too long for our entrees. They did, however, comp our wine and took $40 off the bill, which we thought was a classy move.
Great outdoor seating. Good value ($30) for brunch.
Came with assorted bread/pastry plate. When asked for an additional piece (sliver) of coffee cake , Manager or assistant flat out refused saying, plates are pre-made and not possible. No bones about not going the distance to accommodate customers.
Did not think it was an unreasonable request since bagels went untouched/uneaten.
love the whole thing a nearby gem . happy to go nearby
Amazing service, food is delicious, the view is to die for and the drinks are awesome
Our server Melissa was wonderful.
She was attentive and sociable, without being overbearing.
Food and service was great. Desserts were phenomenal! The menu is a limited for vegetarians but the vegetarian option was delicious. A little pricey overall but I would come back.
My husband and I went for our 20th anniversary. We could not be seated outside, but I was good with that. Unfortunately, we were seated next to a loud, obnoxious group of 8 plus a baby (the baby was the best behaved of them.) The waitress had her hands full with them, as they seemed to be unaware that anyone else existed besides them. The waitress was really very lovely, and she did apologize for the wait (it took her well over 10-15 min's to greet us). She really did try to stay on top of us, but it was hard. The place was hopping, and the views were breathtaking. I also very much enjoyed my red sangria; it was very aromatic and flavorful. The food was very good; it just took a very long time to get, and while I did not complain, the food was not piping hot when it arrived. We would go back; we just wouldn't want to be seated near a large group again.
Been to the Ocean a few times but never had to wait so long. Was seated at 6:20 PM and didn't get out until 8:50 PM. Way too long. Was short on staff maybe due to a wedding at the same time. The filet mignons were excellent but the Mah hi mahi hi was overcooked.
This place is noted for their view of the sunset over LI Sound, which is as beautiful sunset as anywhere!
Loud, but to be expected, food is usually good but wasn’t on this particular day.
Wonderful view of Sound, delicious lunch menu. Will return again!
We had a lovely dinner at Lobster Night at Ocean. Excellent Broiled lobster. The atmosphere and ambience was beautiful. Like being on a tropical island. Will be back.
Was wanting to dine outdoors and did we ever!!
Amazing views, lobster special, and service!!
Not to be missed!!
Great deal on Thursday lobster ..... excellent quality and cooked perfectly .
Wonderful food service and ambiance.
We went for brunch they forgot our order. Once we received it the order of eggs Benedict was over cooked and the steak and eggs, steak was rare when we ordered medium and the eggs had no flavor. The waitress was great and apologetic but the kitchen definitely needs help!
