The best thing about Ocean is the view. They are the most disorganized restaurant on a Saturday night with less than 50% of the tables full. The wait staff and host are nice people but the service is awful. It took 40 minutes after we placed our order to get any food. There were 6 of us and they gave us three rolls. One dinner that was ordered was completely wrong. In the end, the host/mgr bought us coffee and dessert because the process was an abomination. If it wasn’t for the spectacular sunset and gorgeous view, we would have walked out. It’s a shame!
The view was fantastic as we were right at the water but the waiter kept rushing us and the food was ok but overpriced
Lovely venue. Great view. Decent food. Wonderful server.
Mr.Lee is back
Celebrated our 7 year anniversary by having lunch at Ocean. We got married at the Crescent 5.12.12 on a day just like today. Great food, courteous staff and awesome location. Thanks!
Beautiful view, energetic and helpful staff.
Luncheon food was delicious. New England clam chowder excellent as was lobster roll.
We are SO glad Ocean has reopened for the season. It was a pleasure to have our choice of sunset view tables and dine with the attentive staff.
Love this place!
View and atmosphere were amazing, but food was so so.
It seems that Ocean is under new management. Mel made us feel welcomed and the service by the staff was impeccable. Food was excellent and the specialty drinks were amazing. Looking forward to more nights like this at Ocean this summer. I highly recommend it.
Thank you so much for the outstanding review. We certainly appreciate the kind words and look forward to seeing you in the near future ...
Wonderful Sunday brunch/lunch today! We came to celebrate my daughter's birthday in a group of 6. Our waiter, Brandon, was exceptional. He anticipated our needs and even though we were so full that we didn't order dessert, he brought out a special birthday dessert sampler with a candle. It was beautiful and a delightful surprise. The view is spectacular, overlooking the Long Island Sound. Brunch included a huge platter of chocolate croissants, mini muffins, small scones, and mini bagels as well as small yogurt parfaits to whet our appetites, before the actual food arrived, as well as mimosas or bloody Mary's. A few of us ordered from the lunch menu instead, and the burgers were delicious. A great way to celebrate a birthday or special meal with family or friends. Manager Linda Marie was a pleasure. She came to say hello and mentioned that they will be closed for the fall and winter due to construction on the Bayville Bridge - but will reopen in the spring.
Location is spectacular but food is not, and at that price point, it should be. “Pretzel crusted calamari was just fried calamari”, my seafood pasta was also not as described, almost in a cheese sauce?!? My husband ordered prime rib, rare , and they gave him medium well and said it was all they had left. Obviously, we were second fiddle to the wedding downstairs. The only thing I would come back for is a drink in the beach.
Over priced. food ok, very dark very disappointed .
This is our second time dining there and it was very disappointed. Quality of foods went down and they tasted just like the diner around the corner but with a higher price tag. The service was not great since our server kept forgetting to bring out the rest of our orders (like we needed to ask for syrup that comes with the waffle, and toasts that come with the egg dish). The foods certainly did not taste good at all. The noise level was high because all the tables were so close to each other and all you hear is everyone’s conversations. The only good thing was the view and I guess that’s what people are paying for. I wouldn’t go back again!
What a beautiful place! I seriously felt like I was at a seaside restaurant in the Caribbean. The service was outstanding and the food was incredible. I highly recommend and look forward to returning.
Always quality food and great service !!! Brunch is phenomenal
Please call them. We were there. Maybe a little late but they said they marked us in.
Amazing view and great food! DJjdjdjdjdjjdjdjjdj
Always amazing at Ocean. The staff, the food, the chef and the atmosphere is perfect. Thank you for making my husband’s birthday lovely.
Sushi and Dessert was DELICIOUS. Main courses were a little bland but by far the best sushi and tastiest dessert I’ve ever had!
There was an event and cigar smokers thru the night
Very unappetizing for a group having dinner
our server Spencer was amazing attentive and fun. The food was really good and amazing drinks.
We were married 5 years ago at Crescent. All I wanted to do was sit on the balcony and watch a wedding ceremony. I put this in my reservation, I also spoke to the hostess. She said it shouldn’t be an issue since there weren’t too many reservations.
We get there and they said they wouldn’t be able to accommodate us and we may have to wait over an hour. As I came here to sit outside I was not okay with sitting inside.
We were finally seated an hour later and indeed missed the entire ceremony. I also was shocked that not once did anyone wish us a happy anniversary. (We we’re here for our first anniversary and multiple times was acknowledged).
I know the food isn’t anything to write home about but was always happy with the service until today.
Despite a relatively empty dining room, my friend and I were offered a small table that had an awkward view of the LI Sound while many more tables with better views were left unoccupied. My friend ordered the brunch ($30); she ordered the eggs benedict, which came with a minuscule yogurt parfait (shot glass sized), drink, a tray of mini pastries, and coffee. I ordered the Ocean signature burger ($27), an Angus burger which came with a cup of shoestring fries and other garnishes. The meat patty tasted off, perhaps mixed with something that made it taste strange. Overall the food was not extraordinary nor the choices expansive. It's a tired menu, frankly, and could use a boost or expansion.
Overall, the restaurant is lovely, with views of the Sound, potted palm trees on the beach in front of the restaurant which helps you forget you're on Long Island instead of Florida. Service is solicitous and helpful. But the food needs work.
I love this place. The staff are accommodating and the menu is diverse. The food is excellent as is the service. I will be back.
Service was laughable, management inept, food was sad.
Management made excuse after excuse saying that's the
way it is at a busy place ... there was only 5 table???!!!
Absolutely appalling experience.
Great place for a sunset dinner which also included great service and great food.
Restaurant is unorganized and it effects the service. Waitress is attentive until the food comes then you never see them again. Table not cleared, checked not picked up. Could have been a better time.
We really enjoy the outdoor dining and view of LI Sound. We enjoyed our appetizers Thai coconut mussels and tuna tacos My husband liked the signature burger although it was not medium rare more medium but still moist. I ordered the Oscar Bronzino and was very disappointed probably should have sent it back but it was at this time that service was not attentive and our waitress could not be found, no one came over to check out how everything was. The fish filet was dry and crunchy usually bronzino is moist and flaky and the crabmeat was bland. There was supposed to be a lemon cream sauce no where on the plate In retrospect I should have sent it back. Since it did spoil a lovely evening - at least a majority of the food was very good and the view is spectacular
Our waitress (Lesley, as stated on our receipt) was extremely unfriendly and never introduced herself to us. It appeared she was apathetic and did not care to make us feel welcomed. She had quite a disgruntled and disingenuous demeanor. It really put a cloud on our special date. We will not be dining at ocean anytime soon.
I can’t belive I am writing this review as I really hate to complain in public and hurt a business but, unfortunately, this needs to be shared. I literally felt like I was on an awful hidden camera show. Here was my experience at Ocean:
1) Greeted by a valet in big sunglasses and a hat that called me “Boss”.....Disrespectful
2) Seated at a dirty table. When my 6 year old pointed out the bottle of Tabasco sauce under his chair, the hostess said okay and then walked away. I picked it up along with the dirty napkin next to it
3) I sat in a broken chair and almost fell. Was given a 2nd broken chair before finally getting a normal chair to sit in.
4) My wife sat on a piece of broken glass that ripped her new dress and cut her bottom and finger. She gave the piece of glass to the waitress with her bleeding hand and there was no concern shown at all. Luckily, a housekeeper in the bathroom had a sewing kit so that she could patch the hole and cover her exposed bottom. Neither the waitress or the manager offered a band aid or any first aid.
5) While waiting for my wife, I ordered a beverage. I went to drink it and was greeted will caked on, dark lipstick from the glass not being washed properly. I was disgusted.
At this point, my wife returned, I got up, and we left. The manager met us as we were leaving. He apologized and offered to “take care of us” but I can’t imagine anyone staying after this experience. I was not after free food or being “taken care of”. I wanted to have a relaxing, enjoyable experience with my family. If the front of the house was this a mess, how grotesque is the kitchen? As a final jab, the restaurant canceled my reservation on OpenTable to avoid getting a review. It’s ashamed. This restaurant has a beautiful setting and if run properly, could easily be one of the best on Long Island. Needless to say, potential is worthless and we will not be returning.
Awesome time as usual
Family member didn’t like a party there, went anyway. Waited very long just to be greeted and get water, had to ask,on a really hot day. Got one plate as wrong item, both very bland and sparse. If it was gourmet I could see but it wasn’t WOW I could have eaten better flavored fish from grocery store. For 2 people 1 beverage and 1 dinner over $100. Emailed restaurant, site said would get reply, nothing. Only thing good was view but tables are so crammed together the guy at next table kept bumming me with his chair. They really pack people in to the point of being uncomfortable. Highly disappointed except for the view but that’s nature, not because they had anything to do with it.
Excellent service and delicious food. Beautiful sunsets.
A fantastic place with great food and service. This is by far my favorite restaurant on Long Island and is absolutely worth the drive. Menu and wine list is great and the kitchen always delivers great tasting.
Food was just OK. Waiter was very nice but service was slow. Overpriced for the quality of food.
Everything is good but don’t get the oyster. A lot of sand.
Terrible service... waited over and hour for a table while tables were clearly available. Waiter didn't come to the table for 30 mins when we did get seated. No flexibility to make any changes to menu items. Would not recommend.
Awesome all around
Of the outdoor dining in summer is amazing as is the beautiful waterfront with the sunset but the food is great. We have come here many times and have had events here. The food is even better, fresh and creative. The crawfish sushi was delicious! The mussels flavorful and the salad was so good. Choice of cocktails with great beer selection. A lovely night was great food and service.
