We went to Ocean and Vine for Easter Brunch. Overall, the brunch was not worth the price. The cost was $100 per person plus a mandatory 18% service charge even though it was a buffet. On top of that you had to pay $19 for parking and then we had to pay an additional $20 because we were 10 minutes over the 2 hour limit. I understand that the location dictates a higher price, but I would, for sure, pay a similar price and go to One Pico instead next time (which is outstanding). The food was ok, but not spectacular. We sat outside where the view was very nice. The brunch came with champagne and/or Mimosa's. I was expecting a decent champagne but they served a $5 bottle of brut. We spent about $500 between 3 of us for the food and parking. They did not have eggs benedict, which I consider a staple for brunch, but instead had a poached egg on spare ribs which were cold and very bland tasting. They did not provide full size bagels, but instead had mini bagels which were stale (my husband who loves lox and bagels was very disappointed in this). I tried the kale turkey sausage, which might have been good, but it was ice cold. The deserts were very visually pleasing and, generally, very good. The sliced meats (ham, roast beef, etc.) were good. Again, overall, it was overpriced for what you got.
We enjoyed ourselves, but the chairs were uncomfortable and the view of the ocean was poor and blocked. The food was excellent. I had the salmon, and it was perfect. My husband had the sea bass and he raved! Wine choice suggested by the waiter was terrible. [Screw tops don't work for me].
Our waiter was AMAZING (I believe his name was Jaime). Always so kind, and attentive. Really enjoy his service
Vincent was very polite and friendly as he greeted us upon arrival. We chose to sit outside and he told us to select any table. Such a nice way to start off our lunch.
Our server Jaime was prompt, offered menu suggestion, gave us time to make our decision. We were not rushed. It was relaxing. Our glasses were never empty and our food arrived promptly.
Food presentation was beautiful and the food tasted as good as it looked. Not over seasoned. Salad was not over dressed and soggy. Everything was fresh. No complaints!
Everything was exceptional and we thank you for such a pleasant experience. We will be back.
Perfect Spot Great View of The Pier. Service On Point Had Table By The Fire Pit Made it Really Nice Evening Got there right when it opens for Dinner Ended Up Being Last Ones Out
They use to have an amazing Sunday brunch and no longer have it. Breakfast ends at 11:30am on a Sunday which is ridiculous for a hotel of the size. Many items on their kids lunch menu were also no longer available. The food we did order was OK and does not warrant a return visit. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Its such a shame since the restaurant has a great view.
Good food and ambience, quite quiet during the weekday great for leisurely watching the activity on the beach. Service was really excellent.
We dined from the New Year's Eve price fixed menu which was amazing. Service was top notch as was the food. Highly recommended.
We had Christmas brunch as we were given a gift to go here. Since we wanted a buffet brunch and this seemed to be the only one in the area we were excited to go. The setting was beautiful overlooking the Santa Monica pier and the ocean. We sat outside which was perfect.
The brunch itself is pretty small. Usual omelette station and some waffles/French toast. There was lox and cream cheese, but they use bagel “chips”. Strange to me being from the east coast but I was able to score a bagel. There were eggs Benedict, but they were gone and not refilled while I was looking. The lunch foods were turkey, ham and fish. While the quality was very good the food was cold and probably not to code for sitting out. The desserts were few and not worth mentioning.
Overall the experience was “okay” and there have to be better places out here like there are on the east coast. Perhaps just not buffet style. One last thing that annoyed us was that in the middle of the meal the waitress brought the bill and said just leaving this but no rush. How rude. She did that with at least 3 other tables who were visibly surprised as well.
This year, for the first time in 35 years, I did not cook on Thanksgiving. Instead we made a reservation here which I was unsure about. However, the meal, environment, service and selection was absolutely amazing!!! We are already planning next year at this delightful spot.
No question we would recommend without hesitation. My husband is a non meat eating health nut who had plenty to choose from sans the beef and turkey. Wonderful all around!!
The staff very helpful, The view great, the food very tasty, (we had brunch with French toast and Eggs Benedict) ... both very good and nicely presented. Nice place to eat a friend.
We've been to this restaurant a few times, because it is casual, cozy, on the water and has some creative dishes and non-routine wines (14 Hands Cab and Merlot). Cheese board and fennel salad are a must-order on any visit. Ask for Katrina (sp.?) to serve you. She is fun, attentive and efficient. On our last visit, she even remembered where we were seated on our previous visit, number of guests in our group and the wine we had ordered! Phenomenal! Chef is sometimes salt-heavy, so make sure to ask the server to alert the chef to be mindful. Patio dining can be a bit cold, but they bring you nice, soft blankets to keep you snug and comfy! Parking is impossible, but they provide discounted valet parking for dinner guests. Overall, a good experience.
Was very good. Gave Champagne for our anniversary and a little anniversary cake. We will come back. Food was very good. Service as well.
Chose a table outside which had nice views on the beach and towards the pier. Food was delicious and very filling. Service was very attentive. All in all we had a lovely evening here.
Really great place for brunch. We got there early, but they were able to seat us right away. The buffet was incredible - totally worth the $35. Perfect ambience for taking my boyfriend's parents out to see Santa Monica. Beautiful view of he beach and the pier if you can get seated outside!
We loved our dinner on Thursday. Service was outstanding, food delicious and the view is great. I highly recommend Ocean & Vine.
Dinner was great, service was good, it was very loud due to a large party and the person handling valet fought with us about our free parking because she didn't know the name of the restaurant inside the hotel she worked for. The food and view was great though, it's a lovely restaurant and hotel.
A great place to celebrate a special occasion. We celebrated my son's graduation. The service was excellent with attentive and friendly attendants. They were very accommodating to my children's food requirements. The ambience was great and not too intimidating. It has the relaxed vibe of the beach. We came early evening to watch the sunset and views of the beach and ocean. The food were fresh and delicious!
Lamb and short ribs were great, three seebass dishes were all over cooked, very dry. Very disappointing but the restaurant staff took care of this very well. They offered us other dishes and the bass didn't show up on the bill, without argument or request, they took care of it.
The hotel (although we did not spend the night there) seems upper class. The Location is great, with ocean view. The restaurant is dated though and needs a bit of restyling. The food in general was good, but not splendid.
I made a reservation on open table only to find the place closed due to a private party. It was my girlfriends birthday and it was a little disappointing.
Needs remodeling and an upgrade of furniture. Cleanliness needs to be looked at.
The staff were extremely friendly and attentive:) My sea bass was overlooked but we were having such a lovely evening otherwise that I didn't mention it and am sure if I did that they would have brought me a new one. We went on a Wed eve and it was very quiet w very few other tables so definitely not a 'scene' good or bad when we were there. Am willing to check it out on a weekend or happy hour to see if is livelier. Quiet was perfect for our occasion and recommend if you want to have any meaningful conversation.
Best place to eat to enjoy an amazing view of Santa Monica!!!
Great food !!
Awesome waiter!!
The buffet had some unusual choices, not standard on a buffet. For Easter, the dessert table was so cute as they had bunnies and grass, robin eggs, carrots designed into the desserts. Great for a special occasion, a little pricey.
Initially picked this place for the views and they did not disappoint. However, the food and service were just as good as the amazing view. I absolutely recommend Ocean and Vine to anyone in the area looking for a delicious meal on the beach!
The staff was very friendly. The hotel is gorgeous. The view was spectacular, although set back a little. The food was magnificent. The cocktails were great. Outdoor dining is divine. On one side they have fire pits to casually sit around to eat and drink looking across the way to the ocean. The other side is more of an upscale dining but without a snobby feel. We were conserned that maybe we weren't dressed up enough but the staff made us feel right at home. It was quiet and beautiful outside on the finer dining side. The bar inside was very metro and had lots of interesting well dressed people. There are also couches and chairs in various sections inside to have some privacy and a wonderful conversation. The dining area inside takes on a personality of its own and is really amazing. I loved the style. It's truly the best hotel and restaurant we came across. It's our new favorite. You must go there.
The restaurant was closed for a private party and could not honor our lunch reservation. Why the reservation was taken in the first place was never quite explained. Given we were meeting friends from out of town, we had no choice but to eat at a table in the lobby bar. Even though they offered the restaurant menu, which was good, we were still disappointed. The bar is not the restaurant, which is lovely. We had been looking forward to it.
I made a reservation several days in advance, only to arrive there and be told the restaurant had a private event and we could not eat there. Our only option was to eat at a bar next to the lobby area. Needless to say, we did not stay. I do not understand why I was not contacted prior to the day of my reservation so I could make alternate plans? Had it been a business meeting this would have been very embarrassing and unprofessional.
This place was freezing cold...we kept our jackets/coats on for dinner. I was impressed with the food, but the overall experience was a bit lacking. We went for a late seating on New Years Eve. I was astonished by the number of loud children in the restaurant . I thought a 9pm seating would be late enough to avoid families with small kids. I was unpleasantly surprised.
In the midst of boisterous oceanfront Santa Monica we needed a place for an eight person business meal on a Saturday Night.
Ocean and Vine accommodated us with a large corner table, well lit, where we could talk without disturbing other diners.
Food was quite nice - good taste combinations and lots of choices.
Service was absolutely superb - friendly, helpful, attentive, but not intrusive.
Timing of courses coming out was good too.
Would work well for a large family gathering but they have lots of small tables with ocean views too - I think their set-up has enough variety to serve many needs.
Lovely service
Staff polite and very accommodating
We waited 15 minutes for a hostess and had to flag down a bus boy to tell them we were there for our reservation. When someone finally came we had to eat at the pool
Menu is over rated, just good place to eat on Santa Monica . You are paying for its name.
The view is not to be missed. Overlooking the sand and the ocean this place is simply elegant.
I enjoyed my rack of lamb. My nephew enjoyed his sea bass (I thought it a tad dry.) My daughter loved her chicken (and I did too.) My son liked his sliders and fruit. The service was superb. Everyone treated us like special guests. Go.
This was a great meeting place. We live in the SF Valley and our friends live in the South Bay. The hotel is luxurious and was lively on a Sunday morning. The restaurant food was delicious and the staff were friendly and accommodating.
Waiter was awesome, he went extra mile to accommodate our request of cheese platter that didn't existed within the restaurant. Pretty cold at nights so i would suggest to make sure that heaters are properly working since the ceiling ones were not working and the floor ones were more of a decoration then actually heating surrounding.
Great Sunday Brunch! Try the Blueberry Belgian Waffles and the jalapeno bacon!
We had a great brunch! Wedding or some other occasion was dining outside so we couldn't do that - looked like it would have been beautiful. Service was terrific and the food was delicious. Thank you.
Cubain sandwich And veggie panini. Pretty good
Nice place. Wished there was more as far as food selection.
