   Such a disappointment. Went there for a romantic dinner with my boyfriend, only to discover that they had moved the restaurant out into the lobby area, so that the restaurant area could be used for private events. The new eating area is like a pop-up coffee shop. Not to mention, right in the middle of a busy lobby, with guests coming and going with luggage, etc. Noisy and crowded. We went out to the pool area to relax and have a drink only to be met with blasting club-like music. No way to have a conversation. So, we headed to the bar and decided just to eat there - bar food. The bartenders and bar backs were so busy and understaffed that the service ended up being intermittent and poor - not their fault. And then there are the prices! Holy cow! Very expensive for what could best be described as Denny's quality fare. I used to love the Lowe's and the fact that, as a Santa Monica local, I could go there for a yummy bite and good cocktail by the pool and watch the sunset and it was like a fun neighborhood secret. I won't be going back there again. It was a true disappointment.

   Well, the food, once they provided what we actually ordered, was very very good. This was New Year's Eve, and they had a Prix Fixe menu, $100 a plate. A bit steep, but at least within reasonable range of other options we looked at in the area. Unfortunately, the waiter did not listen carefully, and put in the wrong order for my food. I had ordered the filet, he brought out fish for both myself and I, so they had to cook one up quick for me. Once I got it though, the filet was one of the best I have ever had. The ambiance is currently non-existent. As of January 2020, the real dining room is closed and they set up some tables that are essentially in the lobby / bar area, which isn't very nice - given the price.

   This was a favorite for several years for Christmas Eve brunch with my dad. The move out to the atrium this year was not bad, as the decorations are absolutely lovely. I can adjust to that, although it feels a bit more casual out there. But the service was absolutely horrible. So disappointing. Coffee not left on the table anymore. I had to wait through most of my meal to get a refill. Orders imperfect. Much dripping of water and coffee by the server during pours. It's no longer a lovely dining experience.
