Great restaurant and great tasting food !

Really appreciated the indoor dining experience after a whole year- there was a quick temperature check and the hostess took down my party's information for tracking, which I appreciated. The atmosphere at Obao was upbeat and intimate, and the food was really quite amazing. We ordered the calamari and steamed dumplings as appetizers, pad see ew and drunken noodles as entrees and all were fantastic. The calamari, in particular, was the highlight dish; it was perfectly tender and juicy, with a crispy outer batter, and laid on a bed of marinated vegetables. Instead of the typical calamari rings, they were rectangular strips, which was arguably a much better texture. The sauces for both appetizers stole the show. Definitely looking forward to return in the future, if only for just the calamari!

Outdoor dining was not that good. Food was okay. Hard to get a waiter to come by when you are outside

Overall I would recommend this place . I wouldn’t go back for the food honestly it was subpar and the portions were small. I ordered the lemon grass ribs and also took home a plate of pad Thai. Ive definitely had better Thai food. The staff was friendly however and the ambiance was lovely . Great music and nice decor .

For me my meal was great my bf didn’t really enjoy his meal. I think overall it was a fun night.

I SPENT TWO WEEKS EATING MY WAY THROUGH THAILAND, OBAO HAS THE BEST TASTING THAI FOOD I EVER HAD, EQUAL TO MY THAILAND EXPERIENCE!
IT’S A MUST TRY IF YOU LOVE THAI... CALAMARI, DRUNKEN NOODLES... WERE BEYOND INCREDIBLE... AND THE DUMPLINGS, PAPAYA SALAD WERE VERY GOOD !

I absolutely adored Obao and the food is so good! The drinks are really great as well, we tried four different ones.

Good food with friendly service. However, being from the west coast, we have had better Vietnamese and Thai food elsewhere

Came here on October 26th, which was a gloomy rainy day, but I wanted to visit for dinner with my husband for my birthday. It was sparkling clean, we sat inside in a corner, and there were only two other diners across the other side of the restaurant. Fast service, delicious drinks, mouth watering food (and super helpful waitress, as I have lots of allergies like gluten, soy, egg, milk, etc. and I got to try something new, which never is this easy!!). Thank you for making my birthday dinner memorable!

We had dinner there. The food was really good. Especially papaya salad and Tom Yum soup where amazing. One downside was that the service was too quick. We haven’t finished our appetizers when the mains already arrived. That was too much of a rush. Maybe suitable for lunch but not for dinner. The other downside was the Riesling which was very sweet and more like ice wine.

Amazing food, atmosphere and service for good value. Only complaint was that it felt a little rushed but apart from that a great meal in NYC

This was a return visit for me from a few years ago. I was I. The city with my sister and knew she would love it. I was right. The food and service was wonderful. The crab fried rice, Pho and papaya salad were delicious.

Waited for 40 minutes after our reservation to be seated.

Food was fantastic. Everyone was very helpful. Recommend highly. We went pre theatre and they were very accommodating on time!

Excellent service. Great food. Very busy Friday night during Pre Theater Hours. Want to go back in Hells Kitchen or East Side Midtown when we are not rushed bec of Theater Curtain Hour. Thanks!
