The food was very good, especially for the price. But what really made it is the service. Everyone worked together to make sure we were taking care of very well.
It was very crowded on a monday night when we arrived. The servers forgot us and not serving us any water 20 minutes in, until we waved to get order in and everything. Then the servers were never to be seen again until we saw one of them cleaning a nearby table and waved to get our check and get out of there. It was 90 degree outside and considered the whole restaurant was packed, they did not bother to at least turn on some AC to cool down. It was a miserable experience, overall.
The food - this restaurant is the definition of if you’re hip, swanky, and slap an overpriced tag on an item, then it’s automatically considered “good”. Food was ok, It wasn’t bad, but to be very honest I’ve had better pho at a low key spot.
The cocktail selection was spot on. A lot of nice mix of drinks.
Food was amazing. Lobster pad Thai was something new and was great. Topped with an egg over easy. Spare ribs were juicy meat fell right off the bone. Spring rolls were also a great addition.
Nice spot, but they didn’t have the AC turned on enough.
Unfriendly but efficient. Food was ok, not as fresh as it used to be. Better options out there.
Great service and great food, can not wait to go back!
The food was amazing . Me and my boyfriend loved everything
First time going to this restaurant, and with happy hour almost all day and generous delicious tasting portions, I was very pleasantly surprised.
I went on a day that did not have the lunch special, but the prices were still very reasonable for what you got. The servers were very attentive and even tailored my meal to not be that spicy and contain less oil for my healthier eating style. Definitely will go back. Great neighborhood gem!
Party of 4 pre theater dinner. Very attentive service. Great food at reasonable prices. Arrived in time for happy hour so got discount drinks and oysters. Will definitely return.
Food was excellent but service was a bit spotty and distracted.
Al fresco. Very helpful waiter and excellent food
My friend from out of town wanted Thai for lunch. I decided Obao on 9th Ave because of the ambience. We both tried the 2 dishes that had the Mitchlen star, pho and the cubed beef with rice. I know... We came for Thai but we had to try the specially rated dishes. The food came out delicious. I made reservations for 12:30pm on a Wednesday for indoor dining, we were the first guest to arrive; evenly spaced for social distancing.
My tip: bathroom door pulls, not slides. The door "handle" is misleading. You'll thank your nails later. 😉
Great experience, third time here and will definitely continue going !
Great ambiance and food... average drinks
We dined in at around 3pm, so it wasn’t busy inside at all compared to usual. It took a very long time for our food to come out. Our kimchee fries appetizer took so long, and it was lukewarm. It definitely felt as it it was sitting out and the server forgot to bring it to us. And they skimp out on the kimchee - we barely had any on top of the fries. The other four dishes that we ordered were all good - the pho bo was tasty as per usual.
Awful service. Their kimchi french fries had no kimchi. Used to be so good, what happened? Disappointing
Got the pho han (chicken) and my friend got the pho bo (beef). Food came out quickly and was very satisfying!
Delicious food. Good service. Lovely experience.
Didn’t know what to expect. Enjoyed the food and unique vibe and energy with my pho. Had Covid plastic walls up between the tables, which I liked. Would definitely go back.
outdoor dining was nice and spaced out. service very nice. mushroom dumplings yummy!
Decent food, a little "used", friendly service. Yummy pork belly and Chinese broccoli.
Far too noisy. They blast a playlist of explicit rap songs with occasional dance music and it sounds closer to a bar than a restaurant. At least outdoors you don't hear the customers shouting, but there are still speakers blasting. It greatly detracts from the food. I have had a few dishes and beef and they all have one thing in common: The beef is overcooked. Even the shortrib, which was once succulent. 53rd St location has the same issue. They also seem to constantly run out of menu items. I have recently gone twice and this was the case both times. The Pad See Iew is more sweet than savory and almost no vegetable. They oddly topped it with jalapeno, and I had to send it back (I don't take spice well). Bokluklak(?) NZ meat with butter sauce has an astounding sauce, and the meat is somewhat chewable, but more rubbery cubes. The massaman curry is fantastic so long as you avoid getting it with beef/shortrib. The broth looks larger than it is because of the bowl and yet the bowl of rice that accompanies it only lasts HALF of the dish. The meat dumplings (5) were surprisingly great. Filling for 1 person but better to share. There is a dessert on their menu they no longer offer that I was wanting to try. There's just a few more things I want to try and then I may never go back, just because of the unpleasant dining atmosphere.
Excellent food and service!
I would only do this place again for takeout.
It was short from what photos promissed.
Great food! The staff is attentive to their customers. Would come back!
Great experience!!! The food is outstanding and excellent drinks!!
For the price in NYC I will recommend it. The food is good asian fusion. The tables are a little tight particularly with social distancing. Service was a little slow but staff was friendly.
This restaurant is amazing. Great food, nice atmosphere, great service, not expensive- love everything about it and highly recommend!!
Waiter was great, food was really good, the vibe was stellar.
Have a quick lunch at Obao and I must admit everything was really good!
Todo muy rico y excelente servicio y precios accesibles
Went with my kids ages 11 and 7. Food was good but not amazing and somewhat pricey. I think they may have been understaffed, the service was okay but not that attentive.
Overall a good experience and I would go back. I only rate it three stars because it was good. My scale 4 stars is one of the best in town 5 stars is one of the best I have ever had so 3 is a good rating. Service was great ambiance is really nice and food overall is good.
Everything we had was amazing! Veggie Green Curry, Crab Fried Rice -so good
The food was delicious, the place was clean and they have very good customer service.
This restaurant is not operating a 50% NYC occupancy. The restaurant was full and bustling with unmasked patrons everywhere. The toilets were also soiled.
Had a great time!! Food was great and music was great, but wish they gave clean plates in between courses. Eggplant and crispy tofu was amazing!! Definitely will come back again!
Restaurants looks better on pictures but was still nice.Service was good and fast.
