I'd gotten takeout from here but never been in person...so glad we went! Our food was excellent as always (even better in person of course) but watching and smelling all of the other dishes passing by made me want to go back again asap. This is a really vibrant, happening restaurant and seemed like the place to be, on a Tuesday night no less. The value was insanely good, especially for NYC these days. The only negative is it is a little noisy - not in a really bad way necessarily- very energetic, but I wouldn't try to do a business dinner or take anyone hard of hearing there. Great for a date or a couple of friends together.

All in all it was a wonderful dining experience. I can’t say it was the most amazing food I have had, but it was very very good. The service was terrific, the atmosphere was wonderful so it was a nice evening out.

Tables were very close together and the general area was pretty noisy. Otherwise, food and service was great.

Obao was the best place we ate on our brief visit to the City. The cocktails were imaginative and tasty. The server was responsive and helpful but not hovering. The Shrimp Yom Tum soup was perfection - warm, moderately spicy and fragrant with perfectly cooked shrimp. The duck noodles were amazing - soft but not gooey noodles with excellent seasoning. We were done in time to make our show but never felt rushed or pressured. We ate upstairs and the ambiance was lovely. We will definitely go back when we get back to town
