Oasis on the Beach Ratings and Reviews
We enjoyed an excellent, extremely interesting meal, with a variety of new flavors and tastes. The service was outstanding, and the price was not too expensive for a special occasion. I don't eat out all the time, so when I do, finding a menu that's not average, a comfortable setting and a good price, is a treasure!
I highly recommend Oasis!
Oasis on the Beach has become our "Go-To" restaurant for a good meal and great view. Our prior visit had been to bring our mainland visitors to our favorite restaurant. They said (after spending two weeks on island and eating at many different restaurants) that Oasis on the Beach was their favorite, too!!
A nice cozy place on the beach. It has a pleasant vibe and was full of happy people. Their signature mai tai is excellent, all it needs is a sprig of mint for perfection. Our server, Leigh, was very good, engaged and helpful. We split a green salad, had curry with fish and a pork chop. The curry was great, as good as any we’ve tasted. Dessert offerings looked good, we settled on some nice mango sorbet. Again some mint garnish would add here. Solid place. We would definitely return.
Excellent local seafood prepared in interesting and delicious ways. Portions were more European in size (smaller) so if you are starving this restaurant could leave you hungry. The hand crafted cocktails are yummy. Nice outdoor atmosphere with a replica catamaran serving as the bar. Wait staff was incredible and very knowledgeable.
We were staying at the resort and wanted an easy lunch on our last day. We stayed for the ease and view. The view is awesome. The food is very good but the price point especially for lunch was high. The hamburger and fries though very tasty were expensive at $16.50. The beet chips with cheese are amazing. The philly cheesesteak was apparently amazing as well, also $16. The drinks are just ok and cost about $12-14 though half price on a select view for happy hour. 2 went for dinner and though expensive said the steak was extremely good. The service is probably the worst, no one seemed to know the specials and orders were messed up, also when it began to be evident it would rain no one came to ask if we wanted to move or help us do so---3 tables of people had to grab their own plates/drinks, etc and grab an open inside table. We were then just told, "it's ok for you to sit there"--thought at those prices they should have come helped everyone move in and asked if any food got ruined, etc.
Wow! Just ... wow! This is a great little place, that you can't appreciate until you eat there. We had a great dinner, with wonderful service from Henry. But the bonus was the view. Everyone told us to find restaurants with a view of the sunrise, but Oasis is on the east shore. So we were totally unprepared for the moonrise over the ocean. Simply stunning. This place is a winner!
We booked this restaurant for our first night in Kappa, as it was an easy 20 minute walk up the beach from our Kauai Shores Hotel. Upon arrival, we were seated on the nice veranda facing the ocean with great ocean breeze. The daily catch was fresh ahi tuna, so we ordered the tuna bruschetta - amazing! We also ordered half size portions of the curry with daily catch and the quinoa, local vegetables and daily catch. Every bite was delicious and perfectly portioned. If you're super starving, be sure and order the full size portion, as half was more of a lunch portion. We ended dinner on the waiter's recommendation of the dark chocolate Kalua mouse and it was to die for! Definitely recommend this low key, quaint restaurant for all visitors to Kauai. It won't disappoint!
We arrived an hour early to the restaurant to participate in their happy hour. When we arrived we checked in with the hostess and informed her that we knew we were extremely early but we came to sit by the bar and have a few drinks. At the bar we met friendly patrons and the cocktails were amazing. About 10 minutes into our bar adventure the hostess came and told us that our table was ready if we wanted we could take it. We however were engaged in a very intriguing conversation with our new friends at the bar. About 40 minutes went by and our less than courteous hostess returned to say "excuse me are you gonna take your table?" I responded yes our reservation is at 6:30 it is only 6:20. She then responds "but I gave it to you early we have a bunch of people wanting your table" very rude ..... even our new friends were like ok well nice meeting you and they got up and left. Other than her lack of customer service training the food was delicious our waitress was very friendly and knew the menu in and out. Both of our meals came out in great time. However if your hungry don't order the half portions they are like lunch sized.
4/5 in my book only because of the hostess
We are kamaainas who have given this place many many tries over the years; due to it's location being right on the water in Kapa'a.
The bus boy who served us water came to the table and did not say anything to us. He just poured the water and left. with no acknowledgement.
Our server was friendly. We ordered the ahi appetizer with kalamungai powder. The ahi was not cold when it got to us; almost luke warm. The garden salad had a good size serving. This we enjoyed. I had a half order of the veggie curry which was tasty but appeared to be sitting for a while and my partner had the ground lamb dish which he said was "ok".
Overall, the location, right on the water when it's not windy is fantastic. I wish the food was better. The kitchen is a distance away thus I'm sure the servers are not right there when the food comes out so it might sit for a while; thus the food may not taste as fresh as it could be. Not sure what it is about this place; but fortunately there are tourists who support it and again the location is quite a draw.
I do know Wednesdays during Happy Hour this place can be quite busy. Stoked for that and the local musician who play there.
The food was 'meh.' The chef really seemed to be 'trying too hard' to come up with inventive presentations but the flavors and the overall dish suffers because of this. Portions are small. We paid $110 for dinner but ended up eating again when we got back to our hotel. Skip it. Not worth it.
Our table was on the waterfront, our waiter was fantastic and the food was extraordinarily good! I wish I could remember our waiter's name , so that I could let him know how much we all appreciated his attentive service. Our food items sound pretty ordinary: four of us had burgers, and I had a BLT. BUT, my BLT was the best I've ever eaten, and I've been eating them for many, many years. All of the burger-eaters raved about their burgers, too! Maybe it was the "bacon jam"? I don't know why the food was so tasty, but it was! Thanks for a great meal!
