Oasis on the Beach Ratings and Reviews
We enjoyed our meal and the Hawaiian outdoor dinning under a roof even though it was raining, The food was very good and we liked the fact that you could get half meals. That meant you could order two entrees if you couldn't decide or if you were watching calories you could just not overeat. The service was friendly but very slow and the staff was not too attentive. The bartender took forever to make five drinks and as one of my friends said, he wouldn't do very well in Las Vegas. Overall we come back because the food and the location are great. We will just make sure we don't have deadlines to meet.
This is my second review of this fabulous restaurant. Nothing has changed, except our servers who have been great. The food is outstanding, the view is beyond belief and the service -- which has been excellent -- rounds it all out. This is our go-to restaurant for all occasions: a flavorful lunch; a special occasion (our recent wedding anniversary); off-island guests; our date night dinner.
They make a mean (extremely good) Mai Tai.
The Warm Bean Salad with steamed local beans tossed in a grilled orange vinaigrette with charred onions, roasted peppers, chevre, bacon & radish was an explosion of flavors on the palate.
The restaurant offers booth 1/2 portions and full ortions for dinner...we both opted for the 1/2 portions so that we would have room for dessert. Wish more restaurants would offer thsi option.
The Sakura pork chop with fried saimin noodles, nahm prihk nom, long beans, marugai, pako ferns, chili oil was exceptional.
The catch of the day (starts with an M, but can't recall the actual name) was a meaty succulent offering.
Dessert: The Apple banana spring roll with cinnamon sugar, caramel and gelato was well worth having only the 1/2 portions for dinner.
Let me say first that we visited on New Year's Eve so some of our experience may have been affected by the holiday. I will try to take that into consideration. First, we had a nice table with a nice view of the beach although it was dark so not so impressive. They offered a prix fix holiday dinner which should have made it easier for the kitchen and the servers. Three course meal with a choice of three appetizers, three entrees and two deserts. We tried them all. I will give a brief description of each:
Mixed Greens - tasty with mac nuts and dates, unexpectedly good
Mushroom tortellini - undercooked and still tough
Lobster, cauliflower, broccoli dip - amazing with a half Kona lobster tail on top
Beef Filet - Excellent although slightly over cooked. Asked for medium rare and it come medium with only a touch of pink
Pork Osso Bucco - fall off the bone with great flavor; really good
Rare Ahi Tuna - Almost inedible. Sushi grade ahi ruined by a chef with no clue. Coated in salt. crazy.
These were a joke. Horrible. Canned fruit cocktail with meringue - we each took one bite and left the rest. The chocolate cake was so dry that it also could not be eaten.
The service started off good but got slow and then slower. We had to ask for our waiter twice after trying unsuccessfully to waive him down.
We might go back but with so many options in the area, probably not.
We went to Oasis for New Years Eve. They contacted us ahead of time to share that they would be using a set menu vs. their normal menu which was nice to know. The Mai Thais were probably the best we had in Kauai and the steak was the best I’ve ever had! My husband got the Ahi Tuna and that was also excellent. The servings were huge - and the wine paired were excellent.
Went for breakfast as it is part of the complex and close. Bloody Ceasar was yummy and presented with pickled veggies. Just wanted some sustenance to take me through to dinner so ordered the Bacon, eggs and potatoes. It was a luncheon size plate that had room on it, very skimpy on the potatoes and only 2 thin slices of bacon. Had to flag someone down to get s&p for the eggs as our waitress disappeared. Strange considering we were one of three tables seated in the entire restaurant. The kicker for me was the potatoes were under cooked.
I couldn't take more than a couple bites of the bruschetta for it was extremely salty.. the fish added to my curry was pretty salty too. Very disappointed in this place. I'm one of those people who suck it up if I order something bad, but not a single thing here impressed me.
We enjoyed an excellent, extremely interesting meal, with a variety of new flavors and tastes. The service was outstanding, and the price was not too expensive for a special occasion. I don't eat out all the time, so when I do, finding a menu that's not average, a comfortable setting and a good price, is a treasure!
I highly recommend Oasis!
This place is amazing. The service was unbelievably great and the food was excellent. The tomato leek soup was the best I’ve ever tasted and the short rib was cut-with-a-fork tender. We will come back here again for sure.
We loved Oasis On The Beach. You need to make reservations, so you can get a table overlooking the ocean. Everything was fantastic. They make their own Almond Orgeat Syrup for the Mai Tais and they are the best I have ever had. That is saying a lot because we travel to Hawaii every year and get Mai Tais several times during our stay.
Oasis on the Beach has become our "Go-To" restaurant for a good meal and great view. Our prior visit had been to bring our mainland visitors to our favorite restaurant. They said (after spending two weeks on island and eating at many different restaurants) that Oasis on the Beach was their favorite, too!!
A nice cozy place on the beach. It has a pleasant vibe and was full of happy people. Their signature mai tai is excellent, all it needs is a sprig of mint for perfection. Our server, Leigh, was very good, engaged and helpful. We split a green salad, had curry with fish and a pork chop. The curry was great, as good as any we’ve tasted. Dessert offerings looked good, we settled on some nice mango sorbet. Again some mint garnish would add here. Solid place. We would definitely return.
