Oakville Grille and Wine Bar Ratings and Reviews
We waited for 2 hours to get our entree. Ordered surf an turf which was suppose to be a filet and 6 oz lobster tail. Several couples came in after us and finished eating there meals before we got ours. In fact several of the meals served were the filet and lobster. After asking where our food was several times they brought us a substitute of a vey small filet and shrimp instead of lobster although others after us got exactly what we ordered. Also we were never told they ran out of lobster but instead just showed up with the shrimp like that was what we ordered. I gave the food a 3 only because it would have been unfair to rate it because we never got to eat it. They also ran out of the dessert we ordered but with the same circumstances with people arriving after us getting exactly what we ordered. And when I say people after us I am talking 20 - 30 minutes later. This was suppose to be a romantic Valentine’s meal but turned out to be a disaster in so many ways. When I asked for a manager it took at least 20 minutes for anyone to speak with me. I can understand there may have been issues and it was a very busy night but the way things were handled throughout the night were completely unacceptable. I had chosen this restaurant because of the positive reviews and believe the food was probably very good from what I heard; it is unfortunate that our experience was so poor because at this point I could not recommend this place. Because of how late it was and the fact they did not provide us what we even ordered we ended up taking the meal to go. I have never expected anything special when not completely happy with service or meal but in this case they did comp the meals we took home.
Have been here many times and it's consistently good, but our last visit everything was a notch up, just impeccable. In particular, highly recommend the crab cakes - it was our first time ordering them, and they were first rate (and we're fussy about crab cakes). We can count on the service being attentive and the bread, salad, and main courses being well prepared , beautifully presented, and utterly delicious.
This was a birthday dinner for my husband. He loves Oakville Grill’s black and blue steak, which he has had many times. This time he was disappointed because they have changed the French fries they serve with this dish. They are battered fries, and they should be more frites like ( IMO). The Lemongrass shrimp was very good. The tempura veggies were very well done.
Oakville Grille and Wine Bar provides a consistently excellent eating experience. The food not only tastes amazing, but it is presented in an enticing manner. The White Pizza w/ Mushrooms appetizer is superb, as were the vegetable dumplings. The scallops, crab cakes and pistachio encrusted rockfish were amazing. We can't wait to go back.
Pleasantly surprised. Second visit, six diners, all enjoyed the delicate sauces and the fish and scallops were well prepared. Service was a bit strange. Wine list for glasses isn't noteworthy despite being named a wine bar. Overall good food, pleasant enough atmosphere, decent value.
Needed to have a business dinner near the Beltway, for easy on and easy off. This was perfect for that location need, and turned out to be excellent food and experience as well. The food was well prepared, and a great variety for all palates. The wine list covered things from lower priced to higher end, and the prices were not overly marked up and of good value. The service was excellent.
The food is very good, not the service though. we got there at 6:30 we had a reservation, they sat us right away but exactly an hour later at 7:30 the dinner was served , the restaurant was not super busy they had a few tables available, but it took themso long to bring the food, to our surprise during all that time waiting, not even once the server checked on us nor he explained why is taking so long or how much longer we should expect the food coming!
Service very good. Lots of menu options. Crab cake was delicious! However the Lemongrass Shrimp, though very flavorful, had grossly overcooked/rubbery shrimp. Otherwise good. Did not appreciate other diners talking on cell phones or having audible messages pinging during lunch. Ambiance would have been much better if they reminded customers to put their phones on SILENT.
