We were celebrating a slightly delayed Valentine's date on a Saturday night, and wanted to be in the Bethesda/Potomac/Rockville area. We decided to take a chance on Oakville Grill based on its location and reviews: we were VERY happy with our choice. We had the arugula and pear salad and the spicy tomato soup followed by the halibut special and the steak with blue cheese accompanied by delectable wines. For dessert, we happily indulged in key lime pie and chocolate mousse. All the dishes were absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked. The service was superb--quiet, discreet, and knowledgeable--exactly what we wanted! We were seated in the front near the large window looking out on a snowy evening and it was really lovely and romantic. Thank you OG for a restaurant that is not only has delicious offerings but also is inviting to quiet adult conversation--we will definitely be back!

Always a pleasure. Welcoming, excellent food and a menu with good variety and balance among fish, pastas and meat. The pizza appetizer is terrific as well as the crusted fish preparations. The hanger steak is also a fine addition to the menu.

Our server was the best. She really lead us through the menu and experience. Kitchen was inflexible, though.

My wife and I went for Valentines day. The fixed menu had options that sounded good but when our food arrived we found it bland and overpriced.

We waited for 2 hours to get our entree. Ordered surf an turf which was suppose to be a filet and 6 oz lobster tail. Several couples came in after us and finished eating there meals before we got ours. In fact several of the meals served were the filet and lobster. After asking where our food was several times they brought us a substitute of a vey small filet and shrimp instead of lobster although others after us got exactly what we ordered. Also we were never told they ran out of lobster but instead just showed up with the shrimp like that was what we ordered. I gave the food a 3 only because it would have been unfair to rate it because we never got to eat it. They also ran out of the dessert we ordered but with the same circumstances with people arriving after us getting exactly what we ordered. And when I say people after us I am talking 20 - 30 minutes later. This was suppose to be a romantic Valentine’s meal but turned out to be a disaster in so many ways. When I asked for a manager it took at least 20 minutes for anyone to speak with me. I can understand there may have been issues and it was a very busy night but the way things were handled throughout the night were completely unacceptable. I had chosen this restaurant because of the positive reviews and believe the food was probably very good from what I heard; it is unfortunate that our experience was so poor because at this point I could not recommend this place. Because of how late it was and the fact they did not provide us what we even ordered we ended up taking the meal to go. I have never expected anything special when not completely happy with service or meal but in this case they did comp the meals we took home.

Have been here many times and it's consistently good, but our last visit everything was a notch up, just impeccable. In particular, highly recommend the crab cakes - it was our first time ordering them, and they were first rate (and we're fussy about crab cakes). We can count on the service being attentive and the bread, salad, and main courses being well prepared , beautifully presented, and utterly delicious.

This was a birthday dinner for my husband. He loves Oakville Grill’s black and blue steak, which he has had many times. This time he was disappointed because they have changed the French fries they serve with this dish. They are battered fries, and they should be more frites like ( IMO). The Lemongrass shrimp was very good. The tempura veggies were very well done.
