We were celebrating a slightly delayed Valentine's date on a Saturday night, and wanted to be in the Bethesda/Potomac/Rockville area. We decided to take a chance on Oakville Grill based on its location and reviews: we were VERY happy with our choice. We had the arugula and pear salad and the spicy tomato soup followed by the halibut special and the steak with blue cheese accompanied by delectable wines. For dessert, we happily indulged in key lime pie and chocolate mousse. All the dishes were absolutely delicious and perfectly cooked. The service was superb--quiet, discreet, and knowledgeable--exactly what we wanted! We were seated in the front near the large window looking out on a snowy evening and it was really lovely and romantic. Thank you OG for a restaurant that is not only has delicious offerings but also is inviting to quiet adult conversation--we will definitely be back!
Excellent experience all around! We'll be back again soon!
Always a pleasure. Welcoming, excellent food and a menu with good variety and balance among fish, pastas and meat. The pizza appetizer is terrific as well as the crusted fish preparations. The hanger steak is also a fine addition to the menu.
Our server was the best. She really lead us through the menu and experience. Kitchen was inflexible, though.
My wife and I went for Valentines day. The fixed menu had options that sounded good but when our food arrived we found it bland and overpriced.
We waited for 2 hours to get our entree. Ordered surf an turf which was suppose to be a filet and 6 oz lobster tail. Several couples came in after us and finished eating there meals before we got ours. In fact several of the meals served were the filet and lobster. After asking where our food was several times they brought us a substitute of a vey small filet and shrimp instead of lobster although others after us got exactly what we ordered. Also we were never told they ran out of lobster but instead just showed up with the shrimp like that was what we ordered. I gave the food a 3 only because it would have been unfair to rate it because we never got to eat it. They also ran out of the dessert we ordered but with the same circumstances with people arriving after us getting exactly what we ordered. And when I say people after us I am talking 20 - 30 minutes later. This was suppose to be a romantic Valentine’s meal but turned out to be a disaster in so many ways. When I asked for a manager it took at least 20 minutes for anyone to speak with me. I can understand there may have been issues and it was a very busy night but the way things were handled throughout the night were completely unacceptable. I had chosen this restaurant because of the positive reviews and believe the food was probably very good from what I heard; it is unfortunate that our experience was so poor because at this point I could not recommend this place. Because of how late it was and the fact they did not provide us what we even ordered we ended up taking the meal to go. I have never expected anything special when not completely happy with service or meal but in this case they did comp the meals we took home.
Another wonderful dining experience! Always a warm and friendly staff, the meal is always amazing...the best rockfish ever!
Great food, service and ambiance. It always quiet so that you can have a conversation. It has become one of my favorite spots.
Have been here many times and it's consistently good, but our last visit everything was a notch up, just impeccable. In particular, highly recommend the crab cakes - it was our first time ordering them, and they were first rate (and we're fussy about crab cakes). We can count on the service being attentive and the bread, salad, and main courses being well prepared , beautifully presented, and utterly delicious.
This was a birthday dinner for my husband. He loves Oakville Grill’s black and blue steak, which he has had many times. This time he was disappointed because they have changed the French fries they serve with this dish. They are battered fries, and they should be more frites like ( IMO). The Lemongrass shrimp was very good. The tempura veggies were very well done.
Oakville Grille and Wine Bar provides a consistently excellent eating experience. The food not only tastes amazing, but it is presented in an enticing manner. The White Pizza w/ Mushrooms appetizer is superb, as were the vegetable dumplings. The scallops, crab cakes and pistachio encrusted rockfish were amazing. We can't wait to go back.
First time that we had to wait long before getting our meal. Unexpected !
Neighborhood gem. Always consistent!
Great quality food and wonderful service!

Delightful ambiance. Really appreciate low decibels. Excellent service.
Recently enjoyed another special dining experience at Oakville Grill
- fixed price dinner on Christmas Eve was marked by the usual splendid service and great meal
We have never been disappointed. The food is consistently great. The atmosphere is cozy. We always bring our out of town guests here.
Service is very good. The restaurant has reasonable sound control -- one can talk and hear one's companions. The food this time was not up to the quality that it has had before, so from that standpoint the restaurant disappointed.
Be certain to have Cesar Salad. And fantastic duck rolls or
The soup of day.. terrific crab cakes fantastic Filet. Desserts outstanding epically Milton cake and key lime pie
A dining experience you will want to repeat
Delightful dinner on a snowy pre-winter evening. Our server did a wonderful job. The seafood risotto was full of properly prepared fish and shellfish. The crusted rockfish was perfectly done. Nice sized portions so we were too full for desert.
Very good food and friendly service in a convenient location
We were there on very quite weeknight so the service was stellar. Had a New Yorker at the table and he really enjoyed the food and th value.
Pleasantly surprised. Second visit, six diners, all enjoyed the delicate sauces and the fish and scallops were well prepared. Service was a bit strange. Wine list for glasses isn't noteworthy despite being named a wine bar. Overall good food, pleasant enough atmosphere, decent value.
Wonderful food, excellent wait staff
Always a pleasure to meet friends at Oakville Grille. The food is good, the service friendly and efficient, the atmosphere relaxed ! And parking is no problem...I highly recommend the restaurant.
I’ve been to Oakville several times since Thanksgiving and each time the food and service is excellent. It is not too noisy and you can easily carry on a conversation. We eat a lot of fish and there are many fish entrees that are excellent.
The food is always good. The service is generally good. Parking is easy. It's a nice neighborhood restaurant. I do wish they would change the menu more frequently.
We LOVE Oakville Grille and Wine Bar. The food is consistently exquisite. The wine selection is impressive, and this is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant!
