OAKLEYS bistro Ratings and Reviews
We had a fantastic experience. The duck on duck was lick the plate clean delicious. The pork was fantastic and can certainly feed a hungry person. I love the attention to detail, the beauty of everything served, impeccable service and consistent fantastic food. Every bite hits creates an explosion of flavors in your mouth...
Very limited although interesting menu but everything is a bit oversauced. Steak came drowning in a sauce when the server did not mention that. The other dish also was over sauced as were the appetizer and salad. These dressings and sauces were good, but a much lighter touch is needed. Less is more. I think they are going for elegant but assume Hoosiers want lots of goo. (We are both thin, too, so I don’t think they assumed we wanted rich food.) Every dish except the cold salad was brought to us by different staff, each holding the dishes with a protective towel, warning us the plates were very hot. They were. Made us wonder how long our dishes sat under the heaters before they were served. Stil, food was cooked and presented well aside from drowning each dish. Wine list— only three or four red wine selections by the glass. This place is not consistent but I have had a good meal or two there. Many other better and great choices in Indy, but in Nora area this probably is the best, excluding lovely Thai and other international restaurants in area.
This was a return visit after a great first experience with some friends. My return visit was with a large group of business associates who had not been to Oakley's Bistro. All were very impressed ( as I new they would be!) and thanked me for selecting such a great place for our business dinner. Thank you, Oakley's team!
the work of a true chef. You may not recognize all the ingredients or flavors, but the combinations are awesome. Apricot appetizer, creamed spinach, duck in duck, and pork chop were some of best dishes the patrons had ever eaten. Service was attentive but not overbearing.
We were blown away by our first visit to Oakley's Bistro and can't believe we haven't visited sooner! It's in an unsuspecting location, a small front in a strip at 86th and Ditch, but the bistro feel inside is so welcoming. Everything ew had was delicious - from the shrimp corndogs and lobster waffle to the duck and salmon entrees. Our only regret was not saving enough room for dessert! After this trip, we will definitely make Oakley's our go-to place for special occasions.
My wife and I celebrated a combination anniversary and birthday at Oakley's Bistro. We had had lunch there previously but had not been there for dinner. The experience was outstanding. The restaurant is in an unassuming location in a strip mall on the north side of Indianapolis (86th and Ditch Rd), but it offers first-rate cuisine. We each had a drink and split the bacon-wrapped apricots (delicious!) and an interesting fall harvest salad to start. For entrees, my wife had Stanley's Meatloaf (great!) with a side of Kung Pao brussel sprouts, and I had braised short ribs (excellent!) with a side of mac and goat cheese (wow!). Everything was creatively combined with wonderful layers of flavors. You could easily get by without the sides, but we're glad we got them because they were really great. We finished everything off by splitting a seasonal dessert sampler. The service was excellent; our waitress was very attentive. The atmosphere was pleasant -- cozy and not too loud. While the total tab was higher than what we would usually have going out to dinner, we thought it was well worth it. Oakley's is a great place for foodies and one we would recommend for special occasions or just a great night out.
What can I say that I haven't already mentioned in previous reviews? Oakley's never disappoints in all the times we've visited. It seems to be our "go to" restaurant and for good reason. The food is prepared with attention paid to the slightest detail including the nice hot plates that keeps everything yummy to the last bite. Food combinations are creative and we love the use of vegetables - still very much lacking in many other eateries. All members of our party of six were happy and content with their selections.
