We went to Oak Grill on New Year's Day - that may have been our first mistake. Although we sat inside, the room was freezing. The waiters kept making things worse by leaving the large sliding glass doors to the patio open every time they went in and out. Our waiter was pleasant enough but very inattentive (maybe he had a hangover?) and couldn't tell us if there were any specials . Two of us ordered the lobster salad, which consisted of a few bites of lobster, lettuce and a few kernels of corn. It was okay, but it didn't seem like an entree-sized salad. Because we were still hungry, we asked for some bread. The waiter said he had to put some in the oven. We never got our bread, and when we asked another waiter about it, he said they didn't have any bread! What restaurant doesn't have bread? Anyway, I don't think we'll be back - it was a mediocre experience.

I was looking for a place to meet up with friends for a Christmas Day lunch/brunch...Oak Grill hit the mark on all levels. Great menu offerings, limitless mimosas, patio seating and a attentive wait staff. Spent 2hrs relaxing & visiting with friends, what else could be one want for Christmas??

We were served our drinks when our food came. The order was wrong and took back the wrong item only leaving the person with the right order alone to eat. Service was not good. Overall not a good experience.

Bad service. Took 1-12 to get our meal. We were there 2 hours and had to ask our waitress for our food several times. Really disappointed.
Food was just okay. Marginal at best. Won’t go back anytime soon

We went for christmas eve for the prix fixed meal with my parents that traveled to Ca for the holidays. The food was horrible and $90 per person. Plus there was no wine pairing option. The salad tasted like the lettuce was not rinsed at all and had nothing but 2 nuts and 3 cranberrys in it and a dab of dressing. The soup was completely flavorless and loaded with salt. The prime rib they served with no au jus. The steak itself was so bland that you had to ask for salt and pepper shakers to eat it. The risotto had squash in it that was so undercooked it was almost unchewable. Dessert was good. I am so embarassed to bring my family there for what should be a very special dinner. On top of all of that it seemed like they hired new waitresses and buss boys for the night. Nobody new if their was a wine pairing. I had wine spilled on me. A spoon dropped on me. The waitress was trying but really did not know what she was doing. The good thing was if we asked for au jus, salt, pepper, etc she made sure to have a runner go and get it asap. At the end of the night my parents bought the $650 dinner for our Christmas gift and I was mortified when they were signing the check and it looked like my dad was going to pass out because our family is not well off and this was supposed to be a special treat but turned out to be a complete flop.

We were really not expecting much from this place. It was last minute dinner for Saturday night during the holidays and EVERYTHING was full! Finally, we remembered seeing this place and they did have a reservation available. They were even lovelier to accommodate us outside when I had originally said indoors fearing the cold. Highly recommend: SIT OUTDOORS!!! The ambiance was incredible! Lastly, everything that we ordered was incredible! We had the fritto misto and the ceviche, and would highly recommend both! We had most of the entrees and all were great, as were the desserts! We will be back!

Since discovering the Oak Grill, it has become my first choice for lunch in Newport Beach. The staff is outstanding, the food delightful, and there is a brigbt welcoming ambience. Every visit has been upbeat and joyful! And, the pretzel bread is not to be missed!

We went for Thanksgiving dinner and had a wonderful experience. It was a warm evening so we sat on their lovely patio with large trees and hanging lights. They had a set menu and the turkey and the filet mignon were perfection. We are planning on going again for Christmas Eve.

Ambience was wonderful, service was good. The food was ok but fell short of our expectations. The huevos rancheros lacked flavor. The chicken and biscuit was decent.

We are locals who enjoy eating at Oak Grill at last a couple of times a month. The service is great from the valet parkers to the hostess to the server and right back to the valet parker. The food is consistent - very good, served piping hot. It is very pleasant to eat on the patio even when it gets cooler because the have heaters.

There’s no view, the decor is nice but not amazing, the service was great, the food was really good. The bread they serve had three different colors, but no flavor between all three breads. I ordered the chicken and it smelled so good, I started eating it before I took a picture. So sorry the pic isn’t perfect but the food was excellent, the wine was excellent. I’ll go again, but for what it was, it was overpriced.

There was a lot of staff but for some reason they were unattentive to some in the restaurant. Our waiter was very nice but he would leave us alone without checking on us for a lengthy amount of time. We probably would’ve ordered dessert and an after dinner drink if he had come by our table. Lots of staff walking around I guess they were busy however the restaurant was not full

We came for Sunday brunch with guests from out of town. It was a lovely day so we enjoyed sitting outside. Food and service were excellent. I was surprised to see people dressed very informally at such an attractive restaurant in a 5 star hotel.

Service impeccable, food is terrific, and the patio dining is relaxing and calming. Love to have a wonderful meal here after shopping......the restaurants closer, or in the shopping area are too busy, noisy and often a wait. ....here, you get 5 star service and consistently delicious fare...free valet for diners is a plus....no driving up and down aisles looking for a spot.

I’ve eaten at oak grill many times over the years and I usually always order the short ribs. I ordered them this time and I had to send them back. They were cold in the middle and there was no sauce.
I was so disappointed and embarrassed bc we were celebrating my friends bday. But I couldn’t eat cold beef.
I think oak grill needs a new chef.
And or a new manager.
This wasn’t the oak grill I knew.

What a nice surprise. I found this restaurant while looking online in that area. Everything about it sounded great. It was! Delicious and the food was a little creative. But, nothing strange. What a nice change. :-) I had the short ribs on grits. They were sooooo tender and delicious. Flavorful bordelaise on top. (Strangely, I thought the portion was a bit small. And I never am able to finish anything) We also had the pork chop. It was so tender and smokey and full of flavor. Nice size of the chop. Started with a wedge salad and it was very good. It's inside the Island Hotel. I didn't know that but it didn't really affect anything. There is a huge deck so that you can eat outside. It was a perfect night for that!

Came in for a quick brunch with a friend who wanted a great salad. We both had their lobster salad and I finished with a great french dip sandwich. Wonderful cocktails and wine by the glass. Another friend joined afterwards and had a wedge salad and a drink. Great outdoor seating on the patio. Always a treat!
