Very busy Saturday night, hostess was very gracious as dinner reservations were running a few minutes behind. Food was very good, server was excellent. Since restaurant was busy they had to seat many diners outside. Weather was very chilly and as servers went in and out of patio door tables inside were constantly getting a blast of cold air as doors opened and closed. If cold outside ask for table away from patio doors.
This is the finest restaurant in Orange County. Chef Brian Tran is the reason this is so good. They set up an amazing Valentine's pre fixe menu. Everything was perfect.
All the dishes seem amateurish, something prepared by someone who has no idea what fine dining is. I can cook much better at home. Other than the food, all others are fine. You are wasting away your good name and goodwill of this long standing establishment.
Excellent service, excellent food quality and presentation!
Our service from Aaron was amazing! We will be back for sure!
We were really looking forward to celebrating my girlfriends birthday party, but I think our party of 12 was just too much for them. It took over 45 min. just to get drinks...and a second round was just as slow. Everyone was getting irritated, so by the time we got our dinner, everyone was already ready to go. The food was ok, but my chicken picata was very dry. Our server did his best, but no one else came to help him out. Also, I really expected them to give the birthday girl some sort of desert to say thanks for the big group...but nothing.
At least we were able to go next door to Aqua Lounge and get a great table with bottle service to save the night!
The portions were very small, which then made it seem over priced. The service was awful.
Great food and service! Really nice indoor and outdoor areas for elegant dining with large groups. We had 24 people at 2 tables and the service was excellent.
The four of us had both Lunch and dinner at the restaurant the experience was different each time lunch the waiter was great he was there as we needed him the food was delicious enjoyed by all. The dinner a bit different the waiter was good but forgot a few requests the excuse he gave was unacceptable. Never saw him after that a bit disappointing. The food at dinner was like lunch delicious
Nice service and good food
Wonderful brunch! The food is delicious and the service is exceptional.
This is my favorite place in Newport for a business lunch. Perfect ambiance, fabulous, cordial staff, nice lighting. Very California! You can sit indoors or outdoors. Understated and upscale. Free valet parking.
Oak Grill does not disappoint. I have dined @ the restaurant for breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. The food is always delicious, well prepared and presented. The staff members are professional and friendly. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming.
We had a lovely pre-theater dinner at this upscale hotel restaurant. Ambiance was was lovely, however maybe a little stuffy. More of a geriatric crowd at the 6 pm hour. But if you want a quiet leisurely dinner, this is a good place.
Very well done with service for a birthday celebration
We always have breakfast here for special occasions & have rarely been disappointed. Food is so good especially the chicken & biscuits. It’s quiet, clean & service is great. Highly recommend.
I eat here a lot. But the service on this occasion was very poor. I should have said something but was visiting with friends and the time just went by and I didn't comment.
An unexpectedly average experience - from the delayed and cool greeting from host to slow, inattentive service to the food which was ordinary at best. Would not return nor recommend. The space however was attractive.
The service was painfully slow. After being seated, there was a long wait until our server greeted us, followed by an even longer wait (over 15 min) until we were served coffee and water. Fortunately, we were in no rush and enjoyed the outdoor ambiance on a nice morning.
When our food came out, my toast was not served until 5 min after I received my eggs. I hate when restaurants do that because I eat eggs and toast together, so my eggs were cold by the time the toast arrived. The server was extremely slow on coffee refills. He did not know which beer was the “local rotational tap” and perhaps even worse was not able to find out.
The server offered a couple of apologies for slow service by telling us he was really busy and stating it was his first shift at the restaurant. I guess it was more like an excuse than an apology, but it made it easy to give the lowest rating possible for service.
One of the quietest settings while dining in a Newport Beach restaurant. Service by "Aaron" was excellent.
Used a Groupon and was pleasantly surprised by this hotel restaurant. The food was very good with attentive service. The restaurant is right off the lobby of the hotel however, this added a bit to the experience as it was beautifully decorated. Ultimately, would definitely recommend as the entree’s were excellent, wine list outstanding, and overall value worth it. Would definitely visit again in the future.
Been here many times. Service and food was great! Unfortunately, we sat fairly close to large sliding glass doors leading to the outdoor seating, which was still being used for quite a few patrons. We requested of the manager that the staff be aware we were uncomfortably cold and politely asked if they could just be a little more mindful of keeping the doors closed. I even mentioned that I saw sometimes servers had both hands carrying food and realized they couldn’t close the doors behind them. I don’t think the manager said anything to his staff since they continued to leave the doors open, even when they were not carrying anything. Guess we won’t return until the weather gets warmer.
Valentina our server was great! She helped with new things on the menu and her service was excellent. The food was delicious. We had calamari, tortilla soup, Grilled Salmon and Chilean Seabass. It was all wonderful and flavorful. The drinks were great also, I had a Kentucky Trails and a Presbyterian (both are whiskey drinks) and my wife had a Rosè.
Food was not worth the price. Everything was too salty
We dined at the Oak Grill on Christmas night. There was a fixed price menu. Food was ok, wouldn't say great but we had a friendly server who added a nice touch. Very expensive wine list.
We went here Christmas evening - fabulous not Christmas food - refreshing. Lots of choice, fantastic service & very calm & civilized. Lovely & highly recommended
1. Christmas Day Prix Fix Menu
2. Quail appetizer was coated with hot sauce. Should have been boneless, because it was difficult to eat without using fingers.
3. Wild mushroom soup excellent.
4. Beef Bourguignon entree excellent.
5. Salmon a bit dry.
6. Chocolate Mousse dessert excellent.
7. Long Island Ice Tea strong.
8. Coffee flavorful.
9. Initially seated outside, after originally requested inside seating. Whether too cold -- complained to server, who contacted manager; then seated inside.
10. Server did not clean table between entree and dessert. This is unacceptable for a fine dining experience.
Excellent Christmas pre fixe menu - and great service!
We have eaten here quite a few times before but this visit was very disappointing. Did not feel welcomed, we felt ignored and almost as if we had to apologize for bothering them to seat us or take our order. Had to ask repeatedly to even meet our waiter for the first time. Fine dining and service is an art form and it is becoming almost impossible to find. This is not an inexpensive restaurant but the service has slipped to below casual dining. In fact, I have had better service at Norms 😂
Great service and food! Price was great too!
We come to oak grill each year for Christmas Eve dinner. The saff and the restaurant are prepared for big groups so it’s very nice and welcoming. It gets cold outside so make sure you specify indoor seating or dress warm. The environment is nice either way.
Food is simple, in a good way. Very accommodating for all taste buds.
Dec 24. Service was perfect. All of us ate only 2 of the four courses
We love the patio at Oak Grill and the manager, Milan. Our huge disappointment came on Dec 23rd when we took the family to dinner expecting Christmas
Holiday sparkle and music. There was none. That was our swan song at Oak Grill.
We had a lovely meal at Oak Grill. Fresh sea bass was perfectly cooked. Menu said it had jerk spice, so we were a little concerned about it being too hot. Waiter told us it was mild and it was. So good. Nice wine list too.
Food was amazing but service was really slow
Egg-cellent Eggs Benedict!
Good selection for Brunch.
Exceptional service and attention to customer needs.
Used Groupon to try out the first time and now am hooked!
We went to the Oak Grill because we received a Groupon for Christmas. We had been to this restaurant under different names over the years. The restaurant is in the lobby of the hotel. If you are eating there, the valet parking is free.
It was a busy Sunday brunch but we were seated immediately. Our server was flat out outstanding. My wife recognized him from the first time we went there, 29 years ago. He was one of the best servers we have had.
The deal included endless Mimosas along with brunch. The food was very good and our server was on top of the Mimosas. I would definitely go again and recommend it.
Excellent service and tasty food!
Our waitress was awesome ! So attentive and made sure everything was done perfectly ! Food was great nice ambiance ! A great place to entertain !
