Oak & Vine at Springside Ratings and Reviews
The Oak and Vine at Springside is one of those out of the way gems. The food is great and there are several options for dinner. Prime Rib night has got to be the best deal around.
John the bartender (and our server) always makes the best recommendations for drinks and wine and will talk up new beers they're serving. Lots of parking and the ambiance is really nice in summer and winter.
It was our first experience for a meal. I had previously attended two events in the attractive "event" rooms. We went for Sunday brunch and were led into a very large, very plain room with white walls. There was no decor at all. There were people at two or three other tables. We were not allowed to order off a menu. The only option was a $19.95 buffet. Neither of us can eat that much food! We quietly asked the server if was okay to simply leave. She said that was okay. She was very nice about it. We won't go back.
We ate at the Oak and Vine for our wedding anniversary. The restaurant was very nice, but not a WOW! The food was good, but not a WOW! The service was good and our waiter was friendly and attentive--he was a WOW! I was impressed was the quantity of food. We had so much food! I had the Ribeye Steak which was good, cooked well, but the steak was thin. I had plenty of potatoes and vegetable which all tasted great. The Oak and Vine is a very nice restaurant and we enjoyed our time there. Would I go back...sure. We live out of town, so we would probably try other places, but would eventually go back.
If you make reservations here with Open Table, we were treated to a shot of curried cauliflower soup and a yummy zucchini bread. The seating was somewhat awkward, as there was another couple right next to us. So close, that I could've shared my meal with them which limited our conversation. The beet salad was not as pretty as I remembered- but it was good. Service was very slow in the beginning- our waitress got slammed with too many tables. We were there for dinner before going to a play at the Merry Go Round Theater, so all in all it was a good choice.
The exterior and interior were very attractive. The staff were accommodating and quite pleasant. The buffet food was generally good and varied, although vegetarian options were somewhat limited. We found the dessert table offered some nice selections including 3 flavors of ice cream.
It would be better if there were more tapas offered along with a greater variety of vegetarian choices. The outside space is nice but the porch needs to be swept more frequently as the cobwebs were plentiful. The service was outstanding but the food was mediocre and pricey.
We picked the perfect night for eating here. The deck is quiet with a nice view. The food was good at a reasonable price. Our waitress seemed to forget about us from time to time, but we weren't in a hurry so it didn't matter. The only item that we didn't care for was the cheese cake. It was more like a pudding than a cake. The flavor wasn't bad, but texture was weird. But the chicken and tuna were very, very good.
The hostess was great. A few in our party were late, I apologized, she said no problem let me know when you're ready to sit down. The bar tender was great, very friendly and quick. We sat when we were ready. We didn't take an extra long time to decide what to order, the waitress cam and took our order for food and drinks at the same time. We were in no hurry but those drinks took FOREVER. The new menu is interesting, but too out there for little Auburn. I asked for ranch dressing with my chicken sandwich and they didn't have any. NO RANCH DRESSING?!?! What do they do for kids? Our food came out all over the place from the time the first person got their food till the last one got their food was close to ten minutes. Unacceptable. The waitress was less than concerned. She wasn't unfriendly, but seemed bothered to serve us. The prices are reasonable on the pub menu, but the new dinner menu was a little extravegant.
After dining here several years ago, we were very disappointed in the service, menu options, and food quality. The service was extremely slow, long delays in taking our order, bringing the drinks, and too much time between courses. The assorted breads/butters appetizer was terrible, bread was stale, assorted breads didn't go well with the flavored butters and not enough of the butter to go around. The Caesar salad was average, the entrees were expensive and in some cases overcooked, and definitely overpriced. The busboy was untrained and should not have been working. He tried to tell us about the appetizer, but had no idea what he was talking about and at one point he cleared the table with blue rubber gloves on. Unless they change the menu and improve the service we will not be going back.
The food was good but the service was inattentive. We had a drink and two appetizers, one of which was sent back because it was frozen on the inside. Over an hour went by before the waitress took our order, and that was when she was walking by and I said "we're ready to order." It was noisy which was okay, but I didn't care for off-key honky tonk in a top shelf restaurant.
Spent the weekend in Auburn for anniversary. This was a perfect restaurant at which to celebrate. Our server was attentive but not hovering. The accommodations were elegant but not stuffy. And the food was outstanding! So creative with good portions. It felt like we were taste testing for an Iron Chef episode. I would definitely dine here again when we are in the area.
My friend and I had dinner at your wonderful establishment before we attended The Merry Go Round Theater. The service was excellent, the food superb (I had the duck; my friend had the halibut). As an appetizer, we shared an order of calimari which, we agreed, was the best we had ever had. All in all, it was a marvelous experience.
We came for Mother's Day dinner on a very busy Saturday evening. Our first stop, while we waited for our table was in the bar. A very warm and friendly bar tender waited on us. She apparently was working alone but kept everything moving - remarkable multi-tasker. When my wife asked if she had any crackers for our 2-year old granddaughter she went one better and had a server bring out bread and butter. Nice touch. Our table server was as courteous and as efficient as the person handling the bar. Food was excellent. Only one hiccup for the evening. My son and I ordered the aged steak to be cooked medium-rare. When it arrived it was medium- well. No problem. We flagged our server who immediately took both of them back to the kitchen. While we were waiting she brought us complimentary Tomato Bisque - which, by the way was delicious. Because she was so courteous and so efficient the kitchen mistake never dampened our evening nor our desire to return again soon. Although pricing is about what you would expect, the value exceeded our expectations! Great place...go there.
Great food at a reasonable price. It is a nice setting with the availability of a weekend or overnight stay to make it an extra special escape even if is still local. The menu has good variety with plenty of drink options if you desire. I would highly recommend
As usual food was delicious. It was a special Valentines menu and provided many choices for everyone in my party for my dad's birthday celebration. The lobster bisque was to die for as was the prime rib and lobster tail combo. The mashed potatoes melted in your mouth and were creamy and delicious.
For a Thursday evening with a small crowd, our orders took way too long. Our appetizer was delivered in a timely fashion, but then our long wait began. I finally asked our waiter if he could at least deliver Wedge salad we had ordered & that was then promptly delivered. When our Panini arrived, the bread was burnt, but the beef & cheese were cool. The waiter promptly apologized, offered to removed it from our bill, but no made no offer to replace the sandwich. We do eat here often, it is close by & handy, but the meals can range from outstanding to fair. Management needs to work on a more consistent experience for us to continue frequenting the Oak & Vine.
Not impressed. Food over priced, not that good either. The drinks were over priced $9.00 for a glass of wine. They must do good on events cause no one was in the restaurant.wont go back again. Too bad nice location someone should open a good restaurant there.
This establishment is simply remarkable. The service is quick and friendly. You feel more like you're being welcomed into someone's home rather than a restaurant. You can pretty much always find the owners Sean & Beth there and they are happy and willing to chat. The food selection is extensive and delicious! You can pick either a little higher end entree or just a burger if you prefer. It's sure to please any pallet. A dining experience you don't want to miss!
This was such a GEM!!! My dear friend and I love to pick new places when we meet for a meal once a month and this month was my pick. I am so very pleased with my choice. Everything was PERFECT! I had read the reviews and had my heart set on the soup and crab cakes but when I got there so may choices I went with the Duck and I am so glad I did it was cooked to perfection! The atmosphere was great with the fire going, an adorable couple next to us, a wonderful waitstaff and again ALL of the food was just mouth watering and we will be planning another trip out to the Oak & Vine at Springside again soon. Thank you so much for one of the best places we have been to in a very long time.
With the background of a cool Fall evening the sight of the Oak and Vine restaurant beckoned a place of warmth and homespun solace. The soup selection has been my favorite acorn squash bisque and potato bacon soup out did my expectations. I look forward to my next visit to a wonderful restaurant.
OUR SERVER, MALIK WAS VERY ATTENTIVE AND CONCERNED FOR OUR COMFORT.
WE WERE CELEBRATING A BIRTHDAY AND THE BUTTERNUT SQUASH BISQUE WAS EXCELLENT.
THE CRAB CAKE WAS ONE OF THE BEST IN YEARS.
IT WAS A TUES. EVENING AND VERY FEW PEOPLE WERE IN THE DINING ROOM, LESS THAN TEN WHILE WE WERE THERE. THIS MADE IT ENJOYABLE AS WE COULD HEAR EACH OTHER AND SERVICE WAS SPOT-ON.
The staff and management at The Oak and Vine made Mom's 85th birthday so special she admitted that she will never forget it. They couldn't have done any more to accommodate us. The food was AMAZING! We are very grateful to Sean, the manager, and Patti, our waitress for all they did to assist us in making this memory. Many thanks for a great evening!
We were a party of 4 and 3 of the 4 meals were not good. 1 meal included undercooked seafood. 1 meal was not prepared as was described to patron by server. 3 of 4 meals were without flavor. The only tolerable meal was a pork burger sandwich. Our overall impression was overpriced and underwhelmed food. Needless to say, we were very disappointed and dissatisfied.
