Located in a 100-year-old fire station in Boston’s historic Leather District, o ya offers contemporary Japanese dining in a comfortable setting. The intimate 37-seat dining room consists of ten tables and a 17-seat chef’s counter, where guests can watch the chefs preparing the dishes.
Chef Owner Tim Cushman offers an Omakase, or Chef’s tasting menu, for $185 and an extensive a la carte menu of creative nigiri, sashimi, vegetable, wagyu beef, pork and chicken dishes. O ya also offers an extensive premium sake list. Average dining time is approximately 2-3 hours.
CANCELLATION POLICY: In the event that you need to cancel or modify your reservation, please do so 24 hours prior to your reservation to avoid a $75 per person charge.
If you have any specific dietary or time restrictions, please let us know when making your reservation. No dress code.

This is the second time I have been to O Ya and I will be back again. The food is better than amazing and the staff is knowledgeable about all of the crazy sushi and immense wine/sake list. Every roll was a flavor bomb exploded and then danced around my mouth with every bite.
Been to many sushi places and this place is right there with the best of them. Got the grand omakase and each small bite was spot-on with taste and beauty. All the ingredients used were top quality and amazingly decadent and indulgent: uni, truffle, osetra caviar, toro, swordfish belly, dark chocolate, etc. go for a mind-blowing experience!
Generally amazing and staff smile beautifully which is good. There is only thing a little surprising that, with my reservation and on time arrival, we still have to stand out there for a while with some tables and bar-seats available in there. But food is totally amazing!!!! Though really expensive
This was perhaps the best food I've ever eaten...Seriously.
However... I booked o ya 3 weeks in advance and confirmed with the reception on the date that I made the reservation that we would have a table for 4. They screwed up the my reservation. If you book through Open Table, you will be given the Sushi bar...not very accommodating for 4 people who are looking to talk. Be sure to call them and confirm if you want a table. I was a little surprised that didn't offer us something as an apology.
That being said, the rest of the experience was fantastic. That being said, the rest of the experience was fantastic. The fois gras w/ chocolate was the best mouthful of food I have ever had. Highly recommended.
I wanted to love this place for so many different reasons. Most of the food was very good but a fair amount was just ok and the most disappointing thing was that most of the menu was WAYYYY overpriced. Just to be clear I don't mean very expensive, I mean WAY overpriced.
Most dishes were 15 to 24 dollars PER BITE. Having dined at many highly acclaimed restaurants in my life this was by far the most expensive while being far from the best in many ways. We had like 10 dishes - maybe 3 were outstanding and 3 were mediocre and that shouldn't happen at this price level. Service was sub par, we were not offered dessert and the allergy that was noted was handled in an amateur manner with a few unannounced errors. Recommendations - The hamachi w/ banana peppers, foie gras and chocolate, wagyu strip loin and UNI toast. Was a nice experience to see what all the hype was about but sadly will not be returning.
The most incredible and delicious experience. Our server was Anna and we left feeling like we made a new good friend. We saved up for this special occasion and it was worth every penny. Food was beyond outstanding, and beverage pairings were perfect. We had the grand omakase.
O Ya is a fubulous place to enjoy top-notch sushi. Beautifully decored, good service and sushi was outstading. However, the prides charged for the cheapest Sushi are in the stategspherte - we were served two small (size of your finger tip0a was $14. Two small bites and the pride was $14. Yo can always enjoy a $185 sampler, but you will leaver hungry. Bottom line, unless you have a DEEP POCKET, at least $500 for a mderate sushi dinner, you will go hungry. We just had two sjall sushis, paid $40 and left for another restarant down the street. Everythiung else about O Ya is wonderful, a king's ransom is what you need to not go hungry.
Firstly, the food tastes not as good as last time I ate in Match. Secondly, the waiter who served us last night is impatient. He was unwilling to serve us with a distant face from the beginning till end.He didn't even ask how was everything going. Disappointed with the service and food. I missed the waitress who served us in March.
Every dish was superbly prepared and presented. Our waitress was very knowledgeable and attentive. She knows exactly what to substitute when our niece does not go for raw oyster. She also makes sure that my niece , a desert lover, has a chance to sample two deserts in place of sushi. Sushi chefs are happy to engage guests as well. Overall we had another pleasurable experience at o ya!
Deserves it's reputation as one of the best, if not the best, restaurant in Boston. Although sushi is the feature here, one can dine on many other items. The avocado tempura was the highlight of the meal, though everything was superior. I especially liked the short rib as well. Don't miss dessert either.
I have been a total of 4 times, and this last dining experience was less quality as far as gastronomy is concerned.
I think the food is good; however the quality has gone down from other years I've been there. It appears it has become busier and lost its focus on the quality of the food.
Still decent food that is high priced, but it is not the exceptional execution it use to be, so the value has gone down.
It had been a while since we last visited, but we were still very impressed. The squash blossom with truffles and the fried oyster with black squid ink foam were amazingly delicious. So we ordered another serving of each to end our meal. O ya is an amazing restaurant and our server showed us the way to a variety of tastes and flavors. So, so good!
