Great food and excellent service. Experience wasn’t necessarily unique nor special enough to justify the price.
We enjoyed our birthday celebration dinner at O Ya. However, there are a few improvements they should consider -
1. Soy sauce used for the dishes is too salty. A less salty version would be better for bringing out flavor of the food
2. The wagyu beef was our least favorite. It tasted fatty instead of succulent beef
3. The staff did not sufficiently monitor our water glasses. We were out of water towards the end of the meal.
Went to celebrate my husband’s 40th birthday. Had to reschedule at the last minute and they were graciously accommodating. Food was absolutely incredible and the service and attentiveness of our waitstaff was just lovely.
Great food and service but did not think that the value was appropriate. I was expecting a "wow" and did not really get that with the dishes.
Love the vibe, decor, service and food. Inventive and delicious omakase sushi with many hits, but a few misses. We thought the optional truffle add-on unnecessary.
The food and ambiance were great. Service was excellent. Every single person there that we interacted with was top notch. They all knew the details and tasting notes of every dish. The staff made the experience more fun as you could hear the passion each of them had for each of the 20 dishes.
Overall, I think the value could be better. The food here was excellent, and the whole experience was a lot of fun, but I'm not sure it demands the $250 per person, $150 for drink pairing, and tip. It certainly demands a high price tag, but when compared to other experiences like this in Boston, I think this one is a bit too pricing. That said, they are booking out several weeks, so I'm probably wrong.
This may have been the best overall meal I've ever eaten. Super creative and so much flavor in everything!
O Ya is a truly special dining experience. The food was spectacular and so was the service.
O Ya is always an incredible experience! We can’t wait to go back.
Was an absolutely superb experience. Went for the omakase and it more than lived up to expectations. Will happily go back.
Fantastic omekase and wine/sake pairing! The amalgamation of flavors and plated well and served at a nice pace. Time warped within the Izakaya’s sultry low lit brick walls. From the sexy single ladies at the opposite end of the bar shooting selfies to the older couple in the dark corner enjoying a private night to the the out of town DC foodies who b-lined it directly from Logan to celebrate a birthday, this Japanese oasis in the heart of the city did not disappoint. Service was amazing and our grinning waiter had the vibe of your best friend (football coach and enabler) equally geeking out on foie gras, caviar, and truffles, and generously pouring the wine and sake, and scoring a touchdown with every plate he knew we’d devour. When I can fix the hole in my wallet, I’ll be back.
O Ya is one of the best sushi restaurants in the world. It is by far the best one in Boston. Every bite provides a complex and delicious taste experience. This is not simple sushi: sauces, marinades and vegetable accents adorn the highest quality fish to create superb flavor compliments. The service is impeccable and relaxed. The restaurant is very small and quiet.
Very high quality sushi, caviar, truffle, and Wagyu. Definitely try their supplemental offerings and delicious mocktail drink, loved our experience. I really liked the fact that the tables were nicely spaced out and there were only 8-9 parties of 2 or 4 available, quiet and intimate. Makes me very comfortable to eat out in the covid environment!
O ya continues to be our favorite restaurant in Boston, always a great experience!
The 20 course menu was perfect we added three courses which were actually compared to the original 20 not keeping up to the rest
Our waiter and server were fantastic. And the food was unforgettable. This was a culinary experience my wife and I will remember.
The entire experience was phenomenal, from the creativity and execution of the menu to the wonderful staff. The chef also accommodated my allergy and my husband's dietary preferences with delicious dishes. Definitely an experience I would love to repeat.
We loved our meal at O Ya. As new parents who don't have the opportunity to go out often, this was such a special treat for our anniversary. The food was delicious and so unique. We loved everything.
Everyone was so kind from the waitstaff to the chefs and they made our evening out wonderful. We will consider O Ya again for a special future night out.
The food: outstanding
The service: outstanding
The absolutely fire playlist of music playing: outstanding
Will be returning whenever I can get a reservation again
Everything about our dinner at o ya was incredible. We were seated at the counter and did the omikase with beverage pairing. I don’t think there was a single item in the 20 courses that I did not enjoy and I’d say over half of them were absolutely delicious. All the courses were very unique and certainly not something I think I could’ve made at home with any success. I found that it was the perfect amount of food where I definitely left satisfied but without feeling sickly full either. The beverage pairing was good but I will say it ended up being a lot of alcohol and I found myself leaving feeling quite drunk. The service was fantastic, our servers were very knowledgeable of both the food and the beverages and how/why they were chosen to pair together. We’d been saving up to go to o ya for a long time, finally making it there for our 6th anniversary and it was definitely worth the wait (and all the money we set aside to do it).
Fabulous food and excellent service.
Excellent food and service! My favorite was the A5 wagyu beef, tender and full of flavor.
What a treat. The restaurant is quiet - with COVID they have spread the tables farther apart so there are at most 25 people in the entire restaurant with you. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. We ordered the omakase with the beverage pairing. Each course was exceptional: creative and delicious, bursting with flavor. If you consider yourself a foodie, or a sushi fan, O Ya is a must!
There isn't much to say about o ya except that it's one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten in... in this country and abroad. The food is an experience in itself. It's very expensive but worth every penny. My go-to for special, really special, occasions.
Flawless dining experience. We did the creative omakase option and I can say unequivocally it was the best dining experience/meal I've ever had.
Can't wait to go back.
The wait staff was knowledgeable of the omakase menu and very polite and professional. The food was also amazing, it was a wonderful experience!
Experience was incredible. Would absolutely recommend to anyone on the fence. Every dish was crafted to perfection.
Best sushi I have ever had. The tasting menu was AMAZING!
Incredible food and service . A must be experience . I can’t wait to go back
Great as usual!
While the idea of a 20 course tasting menu is a good idea a lot of the same main ingredients are repeated multiple times on the menu. While fish quality was ok I thought I could get the same or better quality at Fiji.
As always it was a wonderful experience. The food is fantastic and the staff is always great. We always look forward to it!
Everything about O-ya is fantastic
The food was phenomenal, wish there could be more to be had sooo tasty and fresh. All I could think was I want more. The final taste before the sweet was foi gras. The flavours blended so well it was orgasmic it sent me to heaven. Hiro - chef, Thank you!!
o ya is one of the best restaurants in Boston. Everything was delicious!
Food was excellent.
Excellent, will definitely go again, although I just tried to make another reservation 2 months hence, but they were booked, even that far in advance.
We drove 60 miles to dine there, then 60 miles back. It was worth the drive. We got there 1/2 hour early, but they seated us anyway. Much appreciated.
One of the items included squid ink, which, after trying squid ink pasta in Italy :(, concerned me. Not to worry, it was a delicious as all of the rest of the dishes.
The Waygu beef slices were perfect and exquisite.
I was amazed by the potato chip and truffles nigiri. Who'd have thought of that?
I wish I could remember what kind of cold sake they served us, it was the best I've ever had.
This is our favorite restaurant and it always exceeds our expectations. The fixed Omikase menu had so many awesome tastes I wouldn't know where to start to pick my favorite. It is certainly expensive but if you can live with that, you won't find better food or service anywhere.
