For Japanese foodies - perfection!!
Delicious! Would highly recommend and will definitely be back!
Yum! Food was amazing.
We did the 17 course tasting menu, which sounds ridiculous, but each course is roughly one or at most two bites. Each course had a highly unique taste to it, and was absolutely scrumptious.
Lovely. Absolutely amazing.
Horrible choice. Out for a special occasion (on a Tuesday), complete breakdown in the
Highly recommended. It's a great place to go for a nice evening out. Be wary that portions are relatively small and prices are high (as is usual for fine dining), but if that is what you are in for, it is an excellent, excellent spot.
Dominic was the best waiter I have had at o ya!
Wanted to find a good Japanese restaurant to eat in NYC, searched on google and O Ya has a high review score of 4.7, so I took my wife and son to eat. Not Until we sat down and found out this is a Michelin 2 Star restaurant
Food was good, service was good, ambiance was great,
Will go back again
No draft beer was the only downside
Where to begin. Two people with 18 course, 1 with the 24 (seemed like it was less than 24) - A 3.5 hours torture session. Literally an unbearable amount of time between courses, at some point 1 piece was brought out and it was another 30 minutes until the next (that is ONE piece of nigiri). Ordered appetizers that arrived 60 minutes after ordering. On a previous visit the experience was simply amazing, on this visit simply unacceptable at this price point. The waiter also failed to review the bill and brought a bill for $1800, about double what our bill was. Having said all that when things flow well this is some of the best and certainly some of the most expensive Omakase in NYC - The staff should be aware of this at all times and treat each visit with the appropriate level of service and care. For reference if you have not dined here, our first visit with three was about $1500 with tip, second visit was $1100.
Fantastic food combination (tasting menu). Fresh, flavorful and enjoyable. Recommended.
Was here on a Friday. Stunning food, excellent ingredients. The o toro was amazing. No it’s not cheap, but they deliver the rest.
Fantastic food, drinks, and cocktails!
Although we received confirmation from your website, the restaurant said they didn’t have the reservation and they didn’t have availablity. They also said they were having a problem with you. They were not at all apologetic or helpful.
Amazing service. Mediocre hosting. Outstanding food. Insane pricing.
Use to be a great restaurant , not any more !!! Sushi have been shrinking !!!! After 24 courses and 500 dollars per person (incluiding service and tax) you are going to be still hungry!!!!!!
Sadly,,, stay away from o-ya,,, a lot of better omakase in the city for a lower tap!!!!
Incredible omakase! Very thoughtful and flavourful. Well paced delivery of courses as well.
Loved the food and the space. Service was excellent. Tempura Shrimp the best ever!
We LOVE this place! The service and food is incredible and they catered so beautifully for a table of 6 that had many varying dietary restrictions. The 18 course omakase was delicious and beautifully presented! We cannot wait to return to O-Ya!
The Noise Level for a Japanese restaurant was war too high!
Food was good but after a 300 Dollar Bill we left hungry.
Will not return. I am a regular Japanese Restaurant lover - this was too little for too much money and too much noise.
Unfortunately we have dined at O ya several times but they did not listen to requests around their Omakase and we left very unimpressed.
It was just great.
Food was amazing (omakase).
Service was impeccable.
Server was awesome.
Attentive and conversational, but not in an imposing way.
It’s not cheap - but I never regret it.
Love coming here.
Great food. Attentive service. Will definitely go back.
Small plates a little bit expensive. Anyway the food tastes amazing.
Such an a gem in my neighborhood. It's a solid restaurant with great service (all servers were such a pleasure; very knowledgable and nice). The food is AMAZING.
The best sushi in NY from my perspective. Also extremely expensive... but worth it.
Great time, wonderful staff, great music
Good but expensive
Thank you so much!!!
I loved the sushi omakase. Wine pairing was weak and not really worth it. Definitely, a place to eat wonderful food in a nice atmosphere.
Fantastic sushi all around. Omakase 18 course is the way to go. Hanzo Steel is a great cocktail for drinking throughout.
Omakase was 18 courses.
Excellent but overpriced.
Fantástico menú. No mires el previo estas en NY
My overall rating is just below a 4.
i indulge in a lot of high end sushi and japanese food, as well as other types of exceptional dining.
I enjoyed the overall experience and the inventiveness of the omakase dinner. There was a certain earthiness in the food design that I appreciated. At the end of the meeting I was surprised to not feel more full after an 18 course omakase dinner, although I do have a good appetite. I ordered several more courses and left at about $300 with drink and not fully ‘satisfied’.
One additional issue, small as it is, when eating a multi course dinner i dislike having the serving plate pulled off the table as i am still chewing the course it was served on, sometimes efficient service can feel insensitive, like one is being rushed along, instead of being supported to linger over an exquisite course.
well done, keep it up.
An outstanding all around experience. Ambiance is nothing out of the ordinary but very much shows Japanese elegance and restraint: no wow, but the enjoyment of something simple and perfectly suited for its purpose.
The quality of the sushi is second to none.
Our waiter was super efficient (we had a deadline and a plane to catch and he stuck to it perfectly) while still extremely nice, attentive and efficient, working well with another waitress (sorry I did not have the name, they should both be commended). I am a regular high end sushi eater but this wins the price through its sensible innovation, restrained yet pleasantly surprising.
I am a huge fan and will come back at every opportunity (I do not live in New York).
I would only like the wine list, especially wines, to beef up, notably in Californian Chardonnays.
Congrats and keep up the awesome work
The food is very delicious! I like it. I ordered 24 grand menu.
Overpriced, over seasoned, and just overall not good. For having a 9.4 on infatuation I was beyond disappointed. The wait staff was fantastic but the food was terrible. I will not go back and will not recommend again. As a avid sushi lover who seeks out the best sushi in the city I could not have felt more disappointed.
Always a great experience at O Ya. Been to NY and Boston locations many times and always walk out loving it even more!
