My boyfriend and I went to O for New Year's Eve. Made an early reservation at 5:30 so as to avoid the holiday crowds. I had asked for the sushi bar on my reservation but noted that no one was at the table by the window although it had a "reserved" sign on it. The hostess and waiter were happy to accommodate us and we got the prime spot. Service was excellent and friendly. The sushi was suburb...and we ordered quite an array...new favorite was the soft shell crab roll. Everything was fresh and excellent. It was the perfect NYE for us! I miss the Kung Fu Girl Reisling, however. New vendor doesn't supply it. Thanks to staff for such an enjoyable evening!!!
Great food. Highest quality - displayed beautifully.
The service and food were very good. But I felt that the prices were quite high, compared to other restaurants with similar menus.
Great place to savor the designer sushi selection prepared by the master sushi chef. We had a great deal getting 2 free lobster tail and a 15% discount during our Thanksgiving dinner with our order of more than $100. Sushi was very fresh and extra ordinarily prepared. This is not your everyday sushi that you get from so-so Japanese restaurants. Be prepared to taste very exciting sushi selection that is out of this world. Well worth the additional premium that you pay and great quality.
O Fine Sushi had the best quality fish I have eaten outside of Japan. The hamachi, salmon and toro were all delicious and very, very fresh. I highly recommend thei sushi.
This is one of our favorite restaurants. We love their food and service.
Wonderful sushi. Nice ambiance. Great service. Drove 75 miles. Worth it!!!
Wonderful Sushi ... also great Ramen. The only reason not to rate higher was that it was very empty, but could have been due to the late hour.
A bit pricey for the size of the sashimi portion. The soft shell crabs roll was the best!
Overall it was enjoyable and delicious we did order one thing and got a different thing but it was good
Top 3 Sushi places in Laguna. Get the Sexy Roll and the Tuna
We where staying at the magnificent hotel across the street and wanted to try other local restaurants. We found O Fine Japanese to be a good local sushi bar. I really enjoyed the diversity of the signature sashimi sampler. After paying very high prices across the street, I found this sushi bar reasonably priced.
If you like sushi , you will not find better than O fine to try ..
The best reason is super fresh sushi and you will know when you will try the food here
The menu and the food, especially the tempura and the specialty rolls are very good. However, the service is poor. There is a long wait to get the food and the wait staff is not attentive and hard to find. When food is served to shared, plates should be automatically given to each person rather than the diners having to wait ti try to flag down a server. The same is true for refills of water glasses, etc
Amazing and creative rolls. Very fresh, generous portions and all around terrific sushi. If we lived ibrgw area we would be regulars.
When we vacation in Orange Co. this is where we come for sushi. The restaurant is intimate and the food is outstanding.
Love love this place. We are from Washington state here on vacation. We've been to a lot of sushi restaurants and this is by far my favorite place. Even my kids loved it!!! They have a great variety of dishes. And they have a great selection of rolls that had no rice. I love rice but they can be quite filling and I want to be able to enjoy more of their selections. We came here twice within two days. Had Shandra serve us both times. She was phenomenal!!!!! She was very attentive and gave great advice on the food!! Would definitely recommend this place!!! Plan to come back when we visit again
This is simply one of the finest restaurants serving japanese cuisine that I have ever dined with. Highly recommend the fresh lobster rolls and tuna belly.
Fabulous! Great value at happy hour. Food is delicious and the portions are generous. Love this place for sushi. The best in Laguna Beach!
Service was unorganized and rushed. If you are going to spends decent money, a welcome environment is important. The appetizer came out at the same time as all the rolls. Usually would not order at the same time but we were pressed to do so by the waitstaff and they were not that attentive.
Lots of choices for lunch - and all were super generous portions and included soup and salad. The service was excellent.
I found this place on a blog and it didn't disappoint. We stopped here before heading to the beach and had the sashimi lunch special. We were able to split one order in two and just added extra salad and soup. The sushi was excellent and the value was more than I expected. I've been recommending it to anyone else who wants to visit Laguna.
A nice sushi bar tucked away from the main street across from the Montage. Good sushi!
Food was pretty good. Restaurant was listed in the OC restaurant guide, yet when we asked for the menus's they said this location was not honoring it. It is clearly listed on the Laguna Beach roster, and this is how we discovered the place. So we won't be going back, as that kind of set the wrong tone.
My boyfriend and I had reservations and this was our first time at O Fine sushi to celebrate Valentine's Day. We chose this place because it had great reviews on Yelp and we concur!
Location- the restaurant is hidden towards the back of a shopping center but we were able to find parking right away.
Inside is small and perfect for a date.
Food- fantastic dishes with quality ingredients. We loved the sashimi sampler, the crispy rice with tuna, the O-Fine roll.
Service was great- very efficient and courteous.
Ambiance- simple and modern.
It was a wonderful experience with wonderful food and friendly service
O is ok, its multitextured, shiny and bright setting is not very friendly. The sushi chefs certainly work hard and the presentation is nice, but there is no engagement. Food was good, not great.
O Fine has a broad list of sushi rolls with a wide and creative mixture of ingredients. When it comes to sushi restaurants, the top priority for me above all else is the quality of the fish. While the fish was fresh and good, it was not quite at the very high level of quality I'd be looking for a sashimi meal (having traveled to Japan many times, I have become very picky about this). Since we decided to have several "non-traditional" rolls that evening, the quality of the fish didn't matter as much as it would with a sashimi meal where the fish has to stand entirely on its own. The flavors of the rolls were substantially influenced by the different sauces and vegetables & peppers used on the rolls, and with three out of the five rolls we ordered, I skipped using soy / wasabi entirely, and used very little on the other two. Most (but not all) of the rolls were tasty and well put together, with the sauces and vegetable choices complimenting the fish well.
Service at the restaurant was decent, but the two waitresses could have used a another teammate to help cover the full restaurant. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful, and she was hustling the whole time we were there, taking orders, bringing food, bussing tables, greeting new guests and manning the cash register too.
Our meal was quite affordable given that there were three of us and how much food we ordered. I also really liked that they offered the option to order half-rolls given how much variety their menu has, and it allowed us to try several different things that we might not have otherwise. Having Sapporo and Asahi on tap was a nice touch too.
Overall I would recommend O Fine to anyone looking to have a good Japanese / Sushi meal while visiting the Laguna Beach area.
