O Fine Japanese Cuisine - Irvine
Worst tempura ever! I have been to many Japanese restaurants, including restaurants in Japan and in Asia, and never ever ate a worse tempura; oily and soggy. Tempura is almost fool proof food, guess not for this restaurant.
Sashimi is also not very good, even the sashimi at Tokyo Central is better.
Excellent food with lots of fresh choices and outstanding service! Highly recommend!
It was a pleasant experience!
Always reliable good sushi. Fresh, fish, good service and nice atmosphere. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Got sushi and sashimi lunch special. Sushi portions were small and fish quality was not the best
The food was fairly good. The service was a little slow (drinks and refills) and appetizer came with my dinner. For the price it was good value, but when I get a night out I want more.
The Omakase was amazing as always.
I wish that ALL sushi restaurants served the quality of sushi that O always does!
I have had good experiences at this restaurant in the past. However, this time the fish was not fresh and some of it had to be sent back.
I came for the $80 Luxe (10-pc omakase) OC Restaurant Week. However, the minimum order was 2 omakase, which was never stated on the menu online or at the restaurant. Hence, I was quite disappointed with this unwritten policy. Instead, I ordered a few sushi favorites, which were average in quality but premium in price. Further, the service by the girl was stand-offish. We're not returning.
Super good food.
Wow what a wonderful experience 🙌🏼👏🏼👍🏼, we came for OC Restaurant Week and did the Omakase Dinner my husband and I and it was simply delicious..... He was a bit skeptical at first because he thought “oh it’s a deal and they won’t give the good stuff “ but WRONG, we got it ALL! Awesome service and a really cute setting, going back for more in a couple days. We’ve found a new fav Sushi 🍣 Restaurant loved the menu great items you don’t see everywhere and presentation was wonderful 💯
They did a great job with COVID-19 protocols! Temperature checking, making sure staff & patrons wore masks as well as social distancing tables. I felt safe & comfortable.
Upper end neighborhood center sushi location and decor, with food and presentation of some of the best sushi I’ve had.
Definitely one of the top 2 or 3 places for quality sushi in Orange County.
The Sushi is always fresh and prepared well. Service on the other hand is very hit and miss.
The yellowtail belly was delicious!
The sushi was very fresh but the portions were very small. Even though it was suppose to be a deal during restaurant week, it was only $20 less then what the normal omakse would have cost
It’s a good value if you get there lunch special. Quality was decent for the price.
Went back for a second visit this week on a restaurant week. First time was an amazing meal but today most of the sushi tasted old and fishy. Quite disappointed bc I’ve shared with friends how fresh everything tasted the first time and instead of trying a different restaurant, we changed to O Fine Sushi.
I’ve let our server know once the shrimp was not fresh at all but once sushi started arriving which tasted old, all of us were very disappointed.
Other than that, everything else was fresh and service was also amazing.
Went there with my mother trying out their OC Restaurant Week lunch menu. $25 for 12 pieces of sushi, 1 blue crab hand roll soup and salad. I felt we were rushed...I mean we got there at 11:40 and finished eating by 12:05. Luckily my mom took her time to finish her hot tea, otherwise we would have been out within 30 minutes. I didn’t enjoy it much but will give the OC Restaurant Week dinner menu a try later.
Good food and attentive and friendly service. However, I felt they were trying to rush us out, even though it wasn’t super busy and we had reservations. We pretty much got all the courses at the same time, and received the check before being asked if we wanted to order anything else (which we did).
The server Thompson is exceptional .
We decided to eat here based on the dinner menu on Open Table. However, once there their menu was different. Gone: Both the Dinner Entree Teishoka and their Dinner Special Combo Plate that included miso soup, salad, rice and steamed veggies. Gone: Beef and Chicken Sukiyaki. Gone: Dinner Special Sushi and Sashimi Combo. I let our waitress know and she was going to let Management know to correct their menu on Open Table. Everything is ala carte now including miso soup & rice. Also, for hot Japanese tea, you get a mug with hot water and a tea bag. My mug was chipped at the lip area too. One good thing is they have some sushi rolls made with cucumber instead of rice on the outside. Great if you are avoiding carbohydrates. It would be really nice if they had that cucumber option for all their rolls. Our agedashi tofu was overdone almost burnt, the vegetables tempura was fine, and the O roll sushi with the cucumber outside was decent. One of the waitresses was not very friendly at all but two others made up for her. It's pricey and ala carte for sides doesn't help. Not sure if we will return.
the quality of food deteriorated for us. sushis are so small and not worth the price. wagyu beef was chewy.
Quality sushi and great service. Just introduced my husband to it with a Christmas gift card and he is also hooked.
We had a small family get together and required accessible seating. Everything was splendid. Best octopus sashimi I’ve ever had.
Hands down one of our favorite sushi places in OC. Food is always amazing!
This was my first time at 0 Fine Japanese Cuisine. I was impressed by their menu - very large selection of items. The sashimi is served in ceramic spoons and was delicious. The special salmon roll was very good, except it was hard to eat the lemon pieces on the top. Their special O roll which is a variety of fish rolled in cucumber definitely missed the mark. it was rolled too loosely, so when you picked it up, all the filling fell out. Would definitely go back.
Everything was great BUT our waitress forgot to put our order in. Luckily the other waiter who took our sashimi order made it to the table but we waited 45 minutes for our appetizers. They didn’t even give a discount for their mistake. They didn’t seem sorry
Hair in the food
The replacement had a soapy taste
End up not having the main course
Not the best sushi in town but not the worst either, just average.
Delicious sushi and cut rolls. Fresh fish. One of our favorite sushi restaurants.
Omakase for $85 per person is such a fantastic deal. And the quality of the fish and the cooked was spectacular. I was surprised how much I enjoyed the cooked items as I have always preferred sushi. The chef exceeded my expectations.
Sat at the sushi bar. Service was horrible. Had to flag someone down to order any food or drink after our initial drink order. Sushi chef told us to order through server, not him. Server argued over uni order, though order uni sushi with soybean paper every time we dine here. Even salmon sashimi was served soaked in chili sauce.
This is our favorite sushi spot and come here 2-3 times a month, but this night was a big disappointment.
The food was good, but came out very slowly and they were not even very busy.
Also, I was billed a higher amount for one item than what was on the menu. Not a huge amount, but still noteworthy.
It’s way too expensive for what it is. The fish is fresh, but you can get similar quality for a lot less. You’re paying for the high rent, not the quality.
Done here regularly, but this dinner was terrible due to the service. Orders were wrong and forgotten, ordered two simple Mixed Green salads and only one was served. Took 15-20 minutes to get another salad, while most other food was delivered. All of my wife’s food was brought out well before I received anything. My wife’s Diet Coke was refilled with iced tea. Very disappointing service - good food, but not a worthy value in light of the service disarray.
Went there first time for Omakase. Loved it! So brought 6 people for it for lunch 1:15 PM on Sat. Should have told us when we called the day before to confirm Omakase is served for lunch that if we opt for Supreme, it takes 2h for supreme-although the first time it only took a little over an hour. Restaurant appeared to be in a hurry to close-closing at 2:30 PM. Soups were cold. All tasted bland. Not deserving $100/person experience!
I had been here years ago & I wasn't impressed then, but I thought I would give it a second chance & I'm glad I did! I was pleasantly surprised! It wasn't anything like I remembered. The food was fantastic. The ambiance was beautiful and the service was excellent! Nice to know that I have a great sushi restaurant very near my home. I just wish it wasn't so expensive, but it was wonderful!
