Nuvolari's Ratings and Reviews
We went for my Mom's birthday. We had a lovely table in a quiet room, which is just what we wanted. Three of us order the veal scallopini. It was very good, but heavier than is typical for that dish. I didn't have a chance to check out the rest of the restaurant, but it looked like there were areas that were quite lively as well as areas, such as ours, that were quiet and where we could easily hear each other. I would go back
Have been when food good, not great. Last visit everyone’s food great! Good pour on drinks. Very very cold. I am usually hot in restaurants, not this time ! Wooo it was very cold. Wanted to move to raised area, but hostess said she’d turn up heat. Got 2 sweatshirts and my coat out of car, my poor husband was still cold after several hours after we got home. Good thing for them we don’t have winter for more than a few weeks a year. Will keep this restaurant in our “go to spots “.
This was for a get-together with friends for Christmas. The restaurant was very busy. There was a private party that was very loud. But, that was fine with us. The food was good. Not outstanding. But good. Service was a little slow because of how busy the restaurant was. Our server was very attentive though. Our wine and dessert was very good.
I am a chef and restaurateur in New Orleans. My wife surprised me with a staycation on the north shore recently. We wound up at Nuvolari's largely because places closer to our hotel were closed on Sunday. I am glad that they were, because Nuvolari's was exactly the restorative meal that I needed. I spend my life obsessing over the details of fine dining minutiae, but at the end of the day what really matters is that my food is cooked and seasoned well, served by a kind and welcoming staff, in an environment that is comfortable. This is where Nuvolari's shined -- the food was delicious and our server was friendly and knowledgeable. I recommend it highly, and look forward to returning.
We arrived and were promptly seated. Atmosphere was nice and not "stuffy".
We ordered a bottle of champagne... the waitress brought out a Pinot Grigio and we caught the mistake just as she was opening the bottle.
Appetizers were OK (Carne & Formaggio and a Caprese Salad). The staff repeatedly topped off our niece's Sprite with ice water. Food arrived a full 80 minutes after ordering—all of the tables around us (which all arrived after us) were served before us. Our waitress was rude when questioned about the delay and service became standoffish afterward. The waitress didn't speak another word to our table until she brought the bill.
Oysters Carbonara was barely sauced and just warm. Fried oysters were tasty.
The Ravioli del Giorno was clearly handmade but both the filling and the pasta itself were undercooked. The sauce was OK.
I've had better meals and better service at diners and buffets. I will recommend against Nuvolari's in the future.
This is my daughter’s favorite restaurant. Took her and my wife out to dinner at the last minute. Looked at Open Table, couple of clicks, had reservations. Easy enough. Waited a little longer than usual on waitress, but we were not in a hurry. After that, service was excellent, food outstanding as always.
Our second visit.
We were not disappointed, 3 couples all celebrating our wedding anniversaries.
Priced in the upper moderate level, generally well priced relative to the quality and quantity.
Varied menu options.
Decent wine list.
We were there on a very quiet Sunday evening.
Service was very attentive but, as noted, it was a very quiet evening.
Absolutely one of the best places to eat on the North Shore in Mandeville La. Staff and chef provide very comfortable dining experience. Has a wonderful Mahogany antique bar to set in and enjoy a drink. Ownership and management do an excellent job at Nuvolari's always very consistent. Food quality and pricing is excellent.
Service was way off one watress serving to many tables not do well with any. Not her fault management should have had more help scheduled. The food was mediocre at best. I haven't been to Nuvalor's in 15 years and won't go back for another 15. In the past the food was very good things have changed not for the better.
If you want to eat lunch and this place is convenient, then by all means give it a try.
If your looking for something special with great food, you will be disappointed.
I ate here, won't go back.
To many great places to enjoy eating than waste my time going back.
for the past 2 trips here, the service has been very poor. this trip was even worse. we had to send out a search party looking for our server-twice. they were out of 2 wines we ordered. potatoes were undercooked. the veal sauce was good but was not a proper piccata sauce. Asparagus were replaced (without notice) by green beans. the pork chop was very good. the cioppino was too dry.
Took a large party for my mom's 70th birthday. They were able to put us in a private room which was great. The staff was friendly and attentive. Service was a little slow at points because they were busy, but overall very good.
I have been here a few times. They food was much better a few years back. Nothing was wrong per se, but just underwhelming. That said we will continue to dine here and look forward to the food returning to its formal level.
Consistently great food over the years. Been going here for almost every special occasion I can think of and will continue to do so. Bar is a beautiful one with a nice selection of wines with wonderful bar tenders. Service is always top notch. But the good is spectacular. Decadent without being over the top. Flavors are balanced well and picked wisely.
