Always love it.
Best pizza ever!
Cute place, but extremely overpriced for what it is.
I've been here several times with different sized parties. The pizza here is delicious and the staff is very nice. They could work on their professionalism though - before, during and after the meal. I made an Opentable res for a party of 14.
Before - I called in advance to check on it, and it took the (very pleasant) person a long time to find it. He kept calling out different incorrect dates as I kept repeating the correct date! Ultimately, he was successful in helping me up the count to 16.
During - the meal was delicious, everyone loved their food, and the staff was so sweet, but entrees arrived at many different times and we had to advocate to get dirty dishes taken.
After - next day I discovered that they never checked me in on Opentable, requiring another phone call to the restaurant so they could complete the process and I could get my points (they did so with their usual pleasant attitude). Leftovers were so crammed into the boxes it was hard to separate. And yet, still so good!
All in all, still a good experience but those things add up and need attention.
Our food was excellent! The service was second to none. The ambiance was very relaxing. We will definitely be back.
Cash or Amex only. Seating was tight. Pizza was great. Pasta was ok.
I have been to several locations of Pizzeria 28 and the quality is always good. The uptown location is open but under some renovations so it was a little messy. Pizza is excellent, rice balls, salads and service will keep me coming back.
Simply fantastic! We ate like we do in italy.
Pizza was very good!!
My husband and I had a great time at Numero 28 on Tuesday. We were invited by the band. We will definitely be back! Our dinner was EXCELLENT! Servers were great and the environment was relaxing--perfect for a date night or a get together with friends.
Food quite good, and nice wine selection. Only slight downside is that the noise level can be significant depending on where you sit. Not great acoustically. Also, the chairs/benches kind of hard, which discourages lingering. That's probably their intention! They were also having problems with their credit card machine, so we had to fork over a fair amount of cash. Great pizza, though. Best in the area.
I messed up online reservation and hostess graciously was able to seat our party of 5, despite planning for 2! Food was wonderful!! We all enjoyed the live music and delicious salad, pizzas and pasta!! Only thing lacking was a bit of attention to water glasses, but was helpful when asked for more. Overall will return when in area, and recommend for small groups/families!
We really enjoyed our meal at Numero 28. We shared the pere salad, mushroom and truffle pizza and the sausage/pepper pie. I had the sauvignon blanc and my fiancé had an IPA ( I don't remember which one). Our service was attentive and able to answer any questions we had. The food came out quickly and was really fresh. The mushroom truffle pizza in particular was really yummy! We came around 7 on a Saturday (we made a reservation but it wasn't necessary) and there were about 6-7 other tables full. We'll come back to try some more of the menu!
New to the upper east side, will definitely be back. Good food, atmosphere & service,
Had a fine family dinner. Pizza was great. Service was friendly. Great addition to the neighborhood.
YUM! We were on girls trip in NY and a friend of mine recommended this place for pizza. A-Mazing! We had gotten individual pizzas and they were soooo good! The mini pizza was big enough for two people.
Always love coming back here for the delicious pizza!
We love Numero 28!
They are SO accommodating and welcoming...
The pizza is delish‼️
Great BYOB pizza place.. Rice Balls and Cacio e Pepe was delicious too!
Excellent pizza; but I think this is one of the most understaffed restaurants I've been to in a long time. Only two waitstaff for the whole space, who were completely overwhelmed. Took us forever to get the menus/ order drinks/ order food/ order more drinks/ had to actively ask several times to get our water refilled/ get the check...I don't blame the waitstaff, they were friendly and did their best. But the management is being really irresponsible and careless by not hiring an adequate number of people.
Is the pizza still worth it? It is great pizza. But I'll probably stay away for a while.
One of the best pizza places, I love it! I would definitely recommend this place to a friend :)
The food was terrible, and the restaurant was hot and dirty. The only good part was our waitress, who was very nice. Would not recommend.
Delicious food and great service! Our pizza took a bit longer than expected, so the waitress gave us a delicious dessert and 2 glasses of champagne on the house. Would definitely come back.
Great surprise that we found this place just two blocks from our daughter's apartment. Best pizza I have had in NY to date. Amazingly simple with the perfect crust.
We made a reservation for Christmas Eve to meet friends visiting from Florida. The restaurant was almost empty. We had been to Numero 28 previously and thought the pizza was excellent. Unfortunately this time was a disaster. All pizzas were extremely undercooked and flavorless. The salad was limp and lifeless. Annoyingly, the pizzas arrived at varying times. Our appetizer (bruschetta) was NOT what we had ordered and the last item to arrive at the table. (The kids left hungry!) We decided not to complain because it was Christmas Eve and the staff was pleasant. We might try it again. Here's hoping it's was just one bad night.
Muy agradable y más para una comida
Damn, that's good pizza.
Service follows the fashion that we should all eat in thirty seconds, so plates are cleared as soon as humanly possible. In one case, the plate was pulled out from under the diner while he was picking up the last piece of pizza. And that was a pizza that was so heavily sauced that the crust was soggy to the point of nearly non-existence.
All of this would be par for a standard New York City quasi-Italian pizzeria were it not for the prices, which are far too high for such treatment and quality.
I love this place! The pizza is incredible, staff is attentive and sweet and the ambiance is great. Numero 28 never disappoints!
Service was poor. I was with a party of 6 and we had to consistently ask for things like plates and silverware. They took way to long to take our order. Also, they charge a $9 crock fee per person.
Delicious as always! Not sure if it was before, but now BYOB. $9 fee but seems worth it!
Great pizza and nice hostess
Pizza is delicious here. Salads good. Atmosphere and wine list are not so good, but the tasty pizzas are the reason to come.
Food was very good - we got the mixed greens salad, pasta bolognese, and a large pizza, which was more than enough food for 4 people.
Issue was service/ambiance. We had an unsteady table that never got fixed (we asked multiple times, and actually got attitude in response). The place was really hot as they sat us right by the oven. And in general, should have been in and out much faster than we were given slow service (and overall bad attitude by the wait staff).
It's the 3 rd time in 2 months we came to Numero 28 UES and it keeps gettting worse everytime. Yesterday was to the point we decided we won't be coming back. Service was beyond appaling: waited 10 minutes to be seated when we had a reservation and plenty of empty tables (waiting for that long with a hungry toddler was not fun at all), waitress kept forgetting to bring our order (beverages and dessert), beer was at room temperature, pizza came cold and the crust was not to numero 28 brick oven standards, coffee was undrinkable with so much lots coffee grinds that we had to return. Music too loud making conversation difficult. It was painful to pay such an expensive bill having such a poor service/food/experience.
Some of the best pizza I've had in NYC!
the pizza & meatballs A++ front of house excel in customer service
THE EGGPLANT PARMESAN WAS UNDERCOOKED AND NOT TASTY. THE PIZZA WAS SALTY AND BELOW EXPECTATIOMS. THE TIRAMISU DESERT WAS NOT REALLY A TIRAMISU BUT A CUP WITH LOTS OF CREAM AND SOME COCOA ON TOP.
My wife and I had salads and shared a 14" pizza there. The salads were wonderful and the pizza was delicious. The restaurant is not large and it is a bit noisy. But the food is outstanding, especially for a neighborhood place. They serve quite a few other Italian dishes in addition to the pizza and we saw other diners ordering (and finishing) those other dishes. We will go back there.
I can't see how you can go wrong when going to Pizzeria 28.
Pizza is amazing, fine crust and just the exact amount of toppings.
All servers have that italian vibe, always joyful and happy to serve. AND they will do the unthinkable to find you a place outdoors (even though it's always full) if that's what you're looking for.
Go, try it, and find yourself going back soon.
