Number 13 Ratings and Reviews
Number 13 is a jewel in Galveston. A birthday dinner celebrated with 11 friends was outstanding from Tetiana with bar service prior to dinner to Trevor, our waiter, who never missed a beat. Fabulous food and service. The beef Wellington is to die for as are all the other offered dishes. Sea food being the favorite main course, but all dishes are beyond perfection. A must go place in Galveston.
We went here for restaurant week and the place was packed. Even with a full house, the food was cooked to perfection and served in a timely manner. It was a little bit too noisy for quiet conversation, but had an energetic atmosphere. The regular menu is expensive, so probably best for special occasions.
The staff an managers were excellent service was great food was superior really a very upscale resturant reminded me of my favorite resturant which I was very close Friend Mr Cleary we will be attending this resturant in the near future please keep up the professional attitude an quality
We enjoyed celebrating birthday dinner at Number 13. This was our 3rd time to dine at this restaurant. We chose to order from the Restaurant Weeks menu. The food and service were very good. Bottles of wine at this establishment are especially pricey. In the future we hope to return for another special evening out.
(We would like to give a shout out to our waitress. Sorry her name has escaped us. She is from Poland and is attending college in the US. She is personable and capable and did a fine job for us.)
Absolutely amazing. My boyfriend and I were pleasantly surprised by not only the our wonderful waitress and her incredible service but the presentation and taste of the food! The wine I do believe was a little over priced but it went great with our food by way of recommendation of our waitress. Unfortunately we were in Galveston visiting and can't make this a regular spot but trust me, every time we are in Galveston this will be a must!!
Dined during restaurant week and it was outstanding. The Beef Wellington was cooked to perfection. Grouper was melt in your mouth delicious. We also tried the oysters and crab dip, which were also outstanding. Service was top notch and we will definitely return to explore more of the menu.
The food here was delectable. For an appetizer I dined on the oysters Rockefeller which were to die for. I had the beef Wellington which you could cut with a fork and the puff pasty was perfectly golden around with no burning. For dessert I had the bread pudding with vanilla gelato; so good and worth every calorie! For a cocktail I had the number 13 mule, which was the only thing that was lackluster. The drink tasted more like margarita mix with sours in it as opposed to a mule. That was the only thing I could not finish there. Definitely stick to wine or straight liquor if you are going to enjoy an alcoholic beverage.
The weather finally cleared so while cold the sun was out. Thought a drive to Galveston would be good. We've never been to Number 13 but found it for Restaurant Week. The menu looked great and 3 courses for $35.00. Number 13 faces the marina, all glass with a great view of the water. The dining room is wide open with the roof 30' above you. This allows the sound to float away. We started with raw oysters, a Manhattan and a Gin Martini. All were perfect. We went with the $35.00 menu as it was a great value. However, the menu focuses on seafood and aged beef in-house. Our first course was Alaskan King Crab Dip with big chunks of crab and Oysters Rockefeller. Both good. Wife had the beef Wellington. The beef was super tender. I had the Grouper Persillade. One of my favorite fishes, it was dead fresh and well-cooked. Dessert was their version of cacao molten cake and bread pudding. Both tasty (go with the bread pudding). The wine list is concise but well put together. Several good values if you choose wisely. All in all a great experience. We're happy to have a new place to go in Galveston
We went tonight for Galveston Restaurant Week. The food, service and environment was awesome. We almost overdosed on the popovers! They were delicious!!! Crispy on the outside, soft and airy on the inside. Our server was attentive and never were we waiting, our plates were cleared immediately and she seemed to anticipate our needs.
We’ve both been to the restaurant before, but did not experience the service or perceived value we did this time. We will be back for sure!!
We visited Number 13 during Galveston Restaurant Week and had their three course menu. Everything was delicious -- from the gratis popover to the 13 rockefeller, grouper persillade, and 13 bread pudding. The dirty martinis were excellent and there were some very nice by-the-glass wine selections. Everyone dining there seemed to be having a wonderful time. I know that we were!
I would recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone. I can't wait to go back again and eat outside when the weather gets warmer. We went for Restaurant Week and you could not beat the value for the price and what was offered. Our e course meal was incredible and totally worth it. We will definitely be back because the menu offers so many good entrees. Our waitress Dia made the dining experience even more memorable. Thank you Dia.
The food and the service was excellent. Bryce was out waiter and he was friendly and offered wonderful recommendations. The filet was cooked to perfection. All of the food, and we had a little of almost everything, was delicious. We will certainly go back. It would be a beautiful place in the summer when the days are longer and you can appreciate the beautiful water views.
I made my reservation to try out Number 13 for New Year's Eve back in August and was super excited because I have only ever heard good things from my fellow local professional friends. After arriving a little after 8 for our 8 reservation we were told by the two girls at the hostess stand that our table was not ready despite there being multiple open tables. I understand that sometimes empty tables mean there are not enough servers so I asked about how long, she said she didn't know and we could go to the bar. I choose not to drink so we let her know and we awkwardly stood by the doorway until a manager came by and simply told them to switch the tables since we were there and had a reservation. After being seated one waiter came by and passed out menus and left- if there were specials we were not told. It took another 20 minutes to get a waiter to come over and she explained our waiter was no longer available and she would be taking over our table. After finally being able to order the experience slightly improved. The one highlight of the night was the garlic shrimp crostini. I really wanted to like this place, we are always looking for nicer sit down restaurants. I am disappointed that I chose to try this one out for a special occasion.
nice setting , noisy, average service, excellent food great choices of RAW OYSTERS from cold waters quality food using local ingredients, sauces that often mask questionable foods can be had on the side so the fish or meat can be tasted without masquerades.
Excellent chef , wine list is overpriced and choices are limited.very fine scandinavian style flatware .
service is acceptable for Galveston Texas.
Very NOISY bar which spills into the dining room.
Overall expensive but well worth it especially for Galveston where decent food is RARE .
Jolina is superb in delivering a seamless dining experience! You know the kitchen is well ran when the servers can answer questions about any item on the menu. I had the off menu 16oz bone in filet ( a first for me), wife enjoyed the mix & match. Along with excellent sides, everything was expertly prepared. Our first time to dine there, but not our last!
We sat outside on the upstairs balcony for Saturday brunch and thoroughly enjoyed the crab cake with sides of spinach and squash. My husband had the halibut which was also lovely. Service was great. The Texas Mule was tasty and the desserts were to die for. Good work!
