Chef keeps the menu interesting. Beef is outstanding.
Made a reservation via OpenTable. When we arrived, they were ready for us, walked us over to a lovely booth and made us feel quite at home.
We were presented with their specialty cocktail list and DH chose the Gotham - their version of a Manhattan -- made tableside. Quite a cocktail, quite a show.
We shared an appetizers of Scallops and their bread basket which was plentiful.
Then came the salads - with a light champagne vinaigrette. They also had a soup, but we chose the salads for both of us.
Then, the Bone in Ribeye and Filet - perfectly executed and super tasty. Sides included asparagus, brussels sprouts with a creamed corn pudding.
A great bottle of Justin Cabernet was the perfect accompaniment.
Creme Brulet and Key Lime Cheesecake finished the meal with a touch of sweetness.
Sean and Art served us well. I cannot wait to go back and try some of their other specialties.
My husband had been eyeing the XXL Wagyu Burger for some time and finally decided to order it. It's a Double 8 oz, Bacon Onion Jam and Bleu Cheese burger that he enjoyed immensely. I ordered the Seafood (shrimp) Pomadoro, and it was delicious. Operations Manager Art decanted a bottle of Justin Cabernet Sauvignon one hour before we arrived. Chef Julian is truly a creative genius, and Server Alex served us to perfection. We finished with their Vanilla Creme Brulee. Magnifique! We love The Steakhouse Grill.
My recommendation would come with a few warnings...pricey for what you get. Sheila the server was slow, inattentive, and did nothing to enhance our experience. The hostess was welcoming and friendly and Sam the busser was incredible.
This is a long-time family favorite. The food has been stepped up in taste and quality, but the salads and sides were mediocre.
We're not giving up. We'll be back, but we'll make sure we are NOT in Sheila's section.
They seem to be just one step away from a really great restaurant.
I texted Operations Manager Art earlier in the day, because we wanted Frank Family Cabernet Sauvignon, and there it was, decanting for about an hour before we arrived. Delicious! Because everything is great, we asked Server Alex what steak he thought best, and he suggested the Rib Eye. My husband ate all of it, but it was so big I could only eat half and finished it on Sunday. The Steakhouse Grill is a wonderful place, and we highly recommend it.
It was my husband's 70th birthday, and what other place to dine but The Steakhouse Grill? Operations Manager Art chilled Veuve Cliquot Brut Champagne and our glasses to perfection. He announced they had a special for us: Seafood Diabolo with jumbo shrimp and lobster tail. Delicious! He also made Strawberries Romanov tableside, which he says he only makes every five years. Fabulous. We were so happy because Server Alex said he would put off his retirement for at least two months. He makes the evening fun and we feel pampered every time. This is the best restaurant in the Truckee Meadows.
We were vendors for the weekend and made a reservation on open table for 9 PM. When the vendor show closed for the evening we appeared at the restaurant at 9:05 and were told that the restaurant was closed. They decided to seat us and we had a very nice dinner. The waitress did her job but was behaving in a patronizing, passive aggressive manner. We gave her a 20% tip regardless.
We didn’t feel welcomed at all; however, our dinner was good. Perhaps not having the choice of a 9 PM reservation would avoid future issues like this.
Joe was our server, he was fantastic. Kept food on the table. The other young man picked up our used plates and filled our drinks. Everyone was very friendly. We relaxed and enjoyed our dinner!
Chef Julian makes the most wonderful Chilean Sea Bass, and we are delighted when it is on the menu. My husband wanted meat, so Server Alex recommended the bone-in Rib Eye Steak, also fabulous, and cooked to our taste without our having to remind him. While Operations Manager Art was not there, we had alerted him we wanted champagne, so it was chilled at our table when we arrived there. While the Steakhouse is elegant and serves gourmet food, it is also a very welcoming place for us. We love it.
Enjoyed a wonderful dinner with good friends. We were offered a Justin winery wine which was out of this world amazing! Thanks to Art for the delicious recommendation! Can't wait for our next visit!
Another lovely evening at the Nugget Steakhouse. Jim has the lamb and said it was delicious. We split a yummy spinach salad. I had the shrimp cocktail and I have never had such fresh shrimp. They were delicious. They were crisp and sweet.
The wine dinner was outstanding. The salmon tartare should be added to the regular menu. The bison was done to perfection. Of course the wines paired with each course were perfect.
This was the Duckhorn Vineyards Winemaker's Dinner on Thursday night, April 18th, 2019. The appetizer was Salmon Tartare served with chipotle crema, olives, shallots, salted cream and caviar. Delicious, and we wish The Steakhouse would include that as one of its appetizers on its regular menu. The First Course was Bacon Wrapped Black Mission Figs with arugula, maytag blue cheese and applewood bacon, served with Duckhorn Sauvignon Blanc 2017. Second Course was Smoked Beetroot Salad, with red and gold beets,, mascarpone cream, tarragon, micro arugula and candied walnuts, with Duckhorn Chardonnay 2017. Third Course was Bison Striploin, with wild mushroom farratt, tempura fried ramp and black truffle demi glaze, accompanied by Duckhorn Merlot Napa 2016. Dessert was Dark Chocolate Cherry Brownie with amaretto ice cream and almond tuile, with Duckhorn "Paraduxx" Red Blend 2014 (was going to be 2016, but Operations Manager Art delighted us with some of the 2014 vintage). A good time was had by all. The Steakhouse doesn't advertise these Winemaker Dinners, but if you can find out when they are scheduled, you will have discovered a wonderful tradition.
The Nugget Steak House has the best Chilean Sea Bass in the area, if not in other areas. It was moist and delicious. Operations Manager, Art, decanted Petite Serine French 2015 wine. Server Alex was attentive and made our meal actually fun. Try it, you'l like it.
Ordered their “Social Hour” early bird special and it was fantastic. Party of 14 abd the wait staff were phenomenal! Great food, great service, great ambience, great company. We will be back ! 👍🏻
We had our Anniversary dinner at the Nugget Steakhouse Grill and we could not have asked for better service or food. Our waiter was very attentive and the food was excellent. Their house salad dressing is exceptional. We will definitely be going there again.
Our whole experience was wonderful! We started with the oysters which were fresh and briney, I had the basil shrimp pomodoro the sauce had just the right level of spice and the shrimp we're cooked perfectly. J had a filet medium rare with a great sauce and scallops sweet and seared just the way one hopes for! The service took us back to "old Reno" where it was important to businesses to make sure your dining experience was without compare! We were treated so well we couldn't ask for anything more!
Our favorite, Chilean Sea Bass, was back on the menu, so we ordered it and enjoyed every morsel. Chef Julian prepares this so that it is moist and tender, with leaks and the most wonderful sauce. Operations Manager Art chilled Veuve Cliquot Brut Champagne, along with the glasses, and it was the perfect accompaniment to the meal. Server Alex knows exactly what we want, so it's almost not necessary to look at the menu. Our salads were served at the right temperature with the dressing we love. All in all a most wonderful meal.
We went two Fridays ago, the food was fantastic and the service was excellent, thank you Joseph.
Operations Manager Art and Server Alex greeted us at the entrance like old friends, which we feel we are. The Nugget Steak House not only has the best food but also the best environment for an enjoyable evening. We got there early enough to order the Happy Hour Special, which for us old folk is plenty of food. :-) New York Steak, cooked rare as we like it, s small lobster tail and garlic mashed potatoes. So delicious. All of this was accompanied by Frank Family Cabernet Sauvignon, probably the best wine we have tried in a long time, and that is saying something because we have loved all of them.
Dinner was delicious! My filet melted in my mouth. My husband’s prime rib was done to perfection. Our guests were very pleased with the oysters and their filets. It was a lovely evening.
Dined prior to the CCR show, which was excellent. Sean, our waiter was very professional and attentive.
Food was very good and prices very reasonable considering it was a casino.
Highly recommend it!!
This was the Far Niente Winemaker Dinner, and we were anticipating it excitedly. Far Niente has fine wines, and the courses started with a Lemon Drop, then Chardonnay, then Merlot and finally Cabernet Sauvignon. Appetizer was roasted date with prosciutto wrap (Delicious). The salad was bibb lettuce in a scrumptious dressing. The first entree was herb roasted chicken with goat cheese in cherry sauce. The second entree was oven roasted beef tenderloin with chard as a vegetable. Dessert was flourless chocolate cake. We loved every bite, and were especially enthralled with the talks by the winemaker about the history of Far Niente. These Winemaker Dinners are fantastic, and we think everyone should attend at least one.
We love dining at the Steakhouse. The ambiance is so welcoming. The staff always make us feel very special and takes excellent care of us. The spinach salad was delicious. I thoroughly enjoyed the onion soup. Although the room is large, the acoustics are excellent and we were able to have a pleasant, relaxed conversation. Another wonderful meal at the Steakhouse!
Just when you think you've died and gone to Heaven ……… Thursday night's wine-pairing dinner was beyond all expectations. I had gone to the Bingo Blowout 2 weeks before and picked up the menu for the evening. I was so excited for the courses Art and Julian were going to serve. I had never tasted Far Niente wines, so I had no expectations about that end of it. I was worried I was getting my expectations up too high, but I was not disappointed one "nth". It is amazing that the dinners keep getting better and better.
The food was very average. Food not hot and was shorted two escargot appetizers.
the service was way too slow. It took us 2 hours for dinner on a Wednesday night.
Jonathan was a great server, he make sure my family was taking care off. The food was great accept my steak was well done I ordered medium well steak but overall it was still good.
Great service and food! A bit pricey, but the venue and service is worth it.
The hosting and service was very dry, no costumer service skills. The food was not flavorful, my husbands stake was dry and he had ordered medium well and it was rare.
Waited at table 20 minutes before anyone came over then waitress asked if we wanted fresh pepper on salads and then she put salt on them and had to replace salads food was ok ordered 2 filets
Very good place for steaks. Salad and sides were very nice and the service was pleasant.
Exceed my expectations for our 10th anniversary. Will eat there again. Drinks, food everything was wonderful.
It was so nice and quiet. The food was excellent. Everything we ate was fantastic. The service was great, they even bought us desert for our anniversary. Would highly recommend.
We notified Art that this was for out wedding anniversary. Even though Art was on vacation, Sheila, Alex, Julian, Jose, Sam, and the rest of the staff made it a unforgettable evening. The table ready for us with a nice bottle of wine already decanted. A lovely card was placed wishing us a Happy Anniversary.
The food and wine were incredible, as was the service. We never waited for anything and the staff was very engaging.
We both suggest the Nugget Steakhouse to our friends and co-workers when ever dining options are the topic. Experiences like our anniversary meal, several family dinners, and the Wine Maker Dinners reinforce our recommendations without fear of anyone having a bad experience.
The menu is comprehensive and the food preparation is excellent. The wine list reflects knowledge & a careful selection of quality wines with pricing that is very fair. The service is professional with an attention to detail. Thank you Nugget for a wonderful dinning experience. Trooper
Great food and nice atmosphere. Very relaxing. I recommend a reservation.
