Great food and nicely designed interior. Pleasant service and tasty food
Entrees were good (not great) but dessert was disappointing -- chocolate cake tasted like it had been in the freezer for a while. Would be interested in trying some other dishes but not sure it was a good enough experience to repeat. Waiter was very attentive and kind. Pleasant ambience and very quiet (largely empty). Categorical 'no' to bread was a little strange.
Everything was fine - good food, quiet room, not a lot of people, good service.
Lovely Christmas dinner.
Perfect Christmas dinner buffet with a large variety of high quality food with decadent and delicious dessert. Wonderful ambiance
Beautiful setting near Harvard Square. Love the Mid-Century Modern design- colors, lighting and furniture in a Historic Setting. Service and food were a delight. Thank you for a wonderful brunch Christmas Day!
Lovely dinner, good food, fine service. Thanks. Will come back.
We enjoyed the food at this hotel restaurant. The overall space was nice. The food was tasty. We had the three course Armenian meal for $30. This was tasty and surprisingly light fare. We also had the steak which was delicious but just a little over cooked for a medium request. The cocktails were good too, but the first one was a bit diluted from the ice. Overall experience was nice. Would go back again.
Very quiet evening due, I’m sure to COVID’s Omicron fears. However, enjoyed the quiet dining room which normally is too loud for comfortable conversation.
While the atmosphere and service were both wonderful, the food was mediocre. Fish sandwich not as fresh as it should have been and the salad was a good flavor,.but too much dressing with the goat cheese; it became a mushy ball.
The fries were great and so was the dessert - butterscotch pot de creme. And my partner loved the apple crisp.
My campari was really good.
So thankful to have a place I can safely eat gluten free Celiac safe food! Our server was wonderful and we had a great date night
Nice, chilled place to have dinner. Service is outstanding. Food is equally outstanding. Highly highly recommended.
This is a neighborhood gem that should be better populated.
always the best service and food and safe distancing!
Nubar is always a great experience. Good social distancing. A great place for these times.
This was a pre-concert dinner, next door to H&H venue. Delicious, unusual hake entree, nice apple-cheddar-bacon flatbread , large mixed salad and awesome butterscotch pudding. We were seated in side room with deafening noise from nearby diners. Timely service. Convenient discounted ($12) parking in hotel lot.
Everything was great but the steaks were over cooked. Ordered medium rare and medium and got medium and medium well.
Overall the meal was good and plentiful. Biggest disappointment was that the food was not piping hot, and a bit on the cool side. I think that food should be checked and warmed up or microwaved before bringing to the table. I asked for some hot gravy to warm things up, but the gravy was not hot enough.
Nubar is an excellent dining venue, regardless of the occasion. The Thanksgiving dinner was well-prepared and the selections were all delicious. I would like to put in a good word for the breakfast buffet - best omelets ever, made to order.
Although the food
My husband and I went for the Thanksgiving buffet. We live far from family now, so we just wanted to go out to eat instead of cooking. The atmosphere felt weird. I was really tense the whole time. It didn't feel like Thanksgiving (comfortable, welcoming, family-like atmosphere). They also added an 18% "large party" fee to everyone's bill, which didn't make much sense to me. Just advertise the real price to begin with.
First time back at Nubar since the pandemic hit. It's long been my default restaurant when in Harvard Square. Although they no longer have a separate vegan menu (which I really liked) they still have enough vegan/vegetarian options to give me (vegetarian) a reasonable range of choice. The service is friendly and efficient. There are ample very reasonably priced wines, and an extensive drinks menu. The noise level can be a bit on the high side, but last night (Nov 20, 2021) at least it wasn't too bad. Dinner was before a concert nearby; after the concert we went back to Nubar for a drink and sat by the warm gas fire. Altogether a great Nubar experience.
We went to Nubar's years ago, and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere there. Thought we try it again. This time, we felt it was less relaxed, much more crowded and noisy, and we felt rushed. Our meal came out quickly before we were done with the salad. We were looking to have a relaxed meal with another couple to catch up. We were rushed out of there in an hour and a half. This part was disappointing.
The food however, was excellent. I had the Bamiyia, which is an Armenian delicacy, and it was very good. I would go back just for that.
Good was pretty bland, with a small selection of entrees. Duck appetizer had four pieces of duck each much smaller than would fit on a tablespoon measuring spoon. Waiter was in the weeds - when we asked for cocktail plates to put the appetizers on, he handed my mom a stack. Wine service was clunky and inelegant. Chocolate cake dessert was cold and wet. Decor is grey on grey, with cold lighting. All around, I don’t have much good to say about our experience, other than these are all first world problems and we left with food in our stomachs.
Great experience- my wife has celiac and other allergies and the staff was very accommodating. Will be back.
Very noisy from conversations at other tables. Made it hard to talk and listen. Wish they would install some noise reduction material in the fining room.
Disappointing. Food was subpar given the reviews. Loud (sound reverberates in the room). Service was slow.
Great setting. Outdoor seating was under cover and fairly sheltered. Food was excellent.
It is now the safest restaurant we go to. We sometimes go once or twice a week. We like going to a place where we know the staff.
Quiet and appropriately distanced outdoor seating, attentive staff, good food.
Dined outside and loved it. Our server was excellent & so was the food. Great little spot. The inside looks awesome too!
First time eating here since Covid. Nice outdoor area set up. Service slow due to staffing issues. Food was not very good - tasteless, didn't seem particularly fresh, cocktail also bad. This is a shame since it used to be very good. No bread "due to pandemic." Is bread more contagious?
Great food, super fresh and not at all oily or greasy. The chef and waitress were super nice, lovely ambiance to have a nice dinner with friends, business meeting or family.
We had a lovely table for 4 outside, served by a very friendly accommodating server. We got our drinks right away and they were perfectly prepared. The crunchy salad was great -- my husband and I shared. I had the fried fish sandwich, crunchy with slaw and fries (a bit too salty!) Others had steak (very good) and the crusted hake. It was a celebration dinner. Everything worked.
A quiet corner in the Harvard Square area. The courtyard dining is perfect for outside and good conversation. Tables are well-spaced, the slightly below ground level insulates the patio from traffic noise, and no piped in music. Excellent for adult dining. Service and staff are superbly professional.
Peter's burrata, watermelon, almonds etc salad was utterly wonderful (A+). So was my grilled veggie gazpacho (A). My lobster risotto was good (B) and Peter's Hake was also very good (B+). The service was fantastic and we will come back often!
Most outdoor seating was completely covered, so possible to keep reservations even in inclement weather! Great food and drinks. I’ll be back for sure.
The service was so outstanding and courteous you'd never know there was a pandemic on causing stress and hiring shortage in the hospitality industry. Can't say if the food or the service was better so will say that both were delightful.
Staff was very attentive, but did not rush! The menu is not too big, with a very nice variety! Chowder was excellent, but risotto was very salty!
Will definitely visit again!
Beautiful classy restaurant with so many creative delicious dishes on the menu. Excellent service.
