Nice outdoor seating
We liked our table outside under a covered patio on a rainy evening. The bar was full so our delicious cocktail involved a wait and so did the food but the waiter handled it pretty well. The menu had a nice selection. Our hake was delicious and cooked perfectly. The Tres Leches dessert was better than any we had in years of living in Texas.
nubar? more like noob bar.
Very nice patio, great date spot
All the food we had was amazing. Salmon, Stake and burger are all cooked to profession. 10 out of 10!
We had the mezze appetizer, asparagus flatbread, and salmon with poppyseed gnocchi and snap peas. Everything was delicious. My favorite dish was the asparagus flatbread--the flavor combinations were spot on. The outdoor seating was comfortable and the waitstaff attentive. Would definitely return. I liked that the menu spanned a range of price points and level of "fanciness", which makes it easy to imagine going back for a casual meal or special occasion.
Excellent location. Very well designed layout. Table arrangement excellent and very comfortable. Waiter was very professional. Menu had some basic and interesting dishes. Chicken was not over cooked and tasty. The fish dish was fine but they could have used something other than peas. Appetizer and desert was very good, excellent taste. All in all I would give the dinner experience an overall excellent rating, with a very fair price and we were quite surprised. Can’t wait to return.
We were a group of fourteen for Sunday brunch--so a challenge for the wait staff. But Nubar handled the challenge with aplomb. We were served quickly (and quietly). The staff was patient, accurate, attentive. The food? Excellent. We all had a good time. With a large group in our alcove, the noise level was noticeable (I have two hearing aids), but leaning in did the trick. This place is lovely and romantic for couples, it's quiet and comfortable for solitary diners, and it's the best in Harvard Sq. for large groups.
It was great. Asparagus flatbread was wonderful. We shared the feta salad. His hake was A+. Our servers were perfect.
The food is fine for money. The patio area is very pleasant.
Beautiful outdoor seating, great food and cocktails. Incredible staff.
Surprisingly good for a hotel restaurant. The menu was quite varied so everyone could find something they liked. The mezze platter was excellent and much more flavorful than similar dishes at other restaurants. Service was very good, drinks were good and all entrees were fine. We ate in the courtyard which is lovely and made for a perfect evening.
Wife and I frequent Nubar once in a while. It’s in the neighborhood and nice to change things up.
This is a pandemic review...I had the steak tips that looked like a little over 1/2 cup portion with fries and arugula salad...$26!!!
Server was nice but inattentive, forgot a drink order and then proceeded to break down bar while we waited for the drink that was never coming or check.
I guess this will be the norm for awhile as restaurants try to find experienced talent and ramp things up. The menus are the same everywhere...one fish, one pasta, one chicken and steak frites/tips...I’m bored
Lovely! My favorite place to go in Harvard Square.
Great outdoor seating area!
Love the outdoor space, for the ambience the food is a bit plain but happy to be back dining in restaurants with friends!
Had a great experience on the patio at Nubar. Portions are big and the food is excellent. Delicious mixed drinks.
Nubar accepted a reservation time of 7:30. When we arrived, they told us that kitchen closes at 8, but in fact that the kitchen starts closing at 7:45 and we needed to order immediately. We thought about leaving, but our party of six included several students still working on Finals, so we didn't think we had the time. We had to order everything immediately, including dessert. And the food all came at the same time. And even while eating, we were being pushed to finish so that they could take the dishes before going home. Never have I experienced such a stressful meal service. They should never accept a reservation with less than a hour before kitchen closing. I don't fully blame the staff, but the urgency of their pushing us was not necessary. And to top it off, tip was added. Thanks Nubar. Not just the worst dining experience in Boston, maybe in the country.
Awesome Mother's Day brunch! One of my neighborhood favorites! Casual/ upscale /gourmet . Our outdoor table was along a wall and wonderful. Virtually all the tables have overhead covering so rain wouldn't have been a big issue, but it was nice out. The server was very nice and fairly attentive. The food came out promptly, however the starter came out with the rest of the meal. Speaking of which, the huge sticky bun starter was heavenly and plenty for the 4 of us to share. I ordered the frattata but swear it was quiche that I got, fortunately I like quiche. Two friends got the stuffed french toast which was wonderful. Last person got steak tips which were excellent and came with small, very yummy potato pancakes. We weren't rushed and I must confess overstayed the 90 minute limit a bit.
Service was a bit slower. Noise level was fine except that everything inside echoed so it was hard to hear ppl next to you (I’m use to loud restaurants and typically prefer them but this was a bit much). Since it was Mother’s Day everything was premade which wasn’t indicated when originally made reservation. Overall not horrible but not spectacular
Food was good. Choice was limited. Portions were too small, and prices were too high.
I had dinner here last week - the food and service were wonderful. I just got back from Mother's Day brunch and the food and service were awful. I was with my mother and son; we waited 15 minutes to place our orders, our food arrived 45 minutes later. The wait person, who was very nervous and in a hurry, barely said a word. When our food finally arrived, my son's salad had dressing, mine did not. My son's biscuits were 'mediocre', my frittata was a dry square of egg which I ate out of hunger. Our wait person never checked on us; after flagging him and asking for dressing, it came out 10 minutes later at which point I had to ask for more coffee. The check came with 18% gratuity added (after the tax). I told the manager I was unhappy with our experience and this gratuity. She did not ask why, nor offer an apology. She removed the gratuity, I added my own. I remain most shocked by the lack of interest in my comments by the management. I will think twice about returning ever.
We had Mother’s Day brunch at Nubar and it was great. Service wasn’t the best.. we were understanding that I was a holiday but it was not busy enough to be that ignored. Over all, 4/5 experience.
I love Nubar! It is always wonderful to enjoy a meal here! The salmon with the snap peas was absolutely mouthwatering. Cooked perfectly. Don's service was great! I highly recommend this restaurant.
Terrible service and food for brunch. Past dinners were great; not sure if and when I will return.
Nubar is one of my favorite places, but I haven't been there in a while because I'm not dining inside. This time my friend and I ate outside on the patio--my first time--even though it was a bit chilly.
Our server--I'm so sorry not to have her name--was excellent. We were the only people on the patio so perhaps you can link her to our service. And the food, which I've always enjoyed, was yummy, too. I had the hake--delish! and my friend had the chicken--also delish according to her. Top it off with two of Nubar's signature cocktails and lovely desserts and it was just a great evening.
Great food and drinks .
Tiny portions for the entree. Drinks were good
Beautiful outdoor setting on a covered patio. Our fish dishes were good, though both could have used a wee bit more seasoning. My only disappointment was that the restaurant does not offer complementary bread. Service was excellent. The cookies we had for dessert were wonderful!
The food and drinks were fine, but nothing outstanding. The service was outstanding and it was quiet when we went (half the restaurant was empty at 7pm on a Friday). Overall, not bad but we probably won't be going again.
My Husband and I had dinner on the patio at Nubar and the whole ambiance was wonderful for a pop-up patio! Quite, private, socially distanced, with friendly staff and really great food. Food and wine pricing was amazing for the area! We really loved it!
everything closed too early, food was mediocre. Drinks were very good and the place was beautiful
Our family had a very nice Easter brunch in Cambridge.
Will definitely visit again the next Time we’re in town
This lounge/restaurant is stunning in the photos, but the actual experience left so much to be desired. The decor is beautiful, but the space is eerily quiet... to the point of being uncomfortable. You can hear the water glasses placed down on the table echo through the room. The waitress was nice, but seemed very timid and evasive. The food was decent yet overpriced for what it was. Really disappointed; perhaps the experience is more pleasant in non-COVID times when it has more energy.
I had the flat bread which had no flavor at all. My partner had the past dish and it also had no flavor. Very poor wine list.
Great food and perfect place for an anniversary. We’ll be back.
We sat on the porch. The food was very good, and our waiter was wonderful and even brought water for our dog. A really great experience all around!!
Nubar is an excellent spot for a snack or a meal. I went on a night during the pandemic, so I can only speak to my own experience, but I found the wait staff incredibly friendly and thoughtful, and the food delicious. The prices are a little high, but I was very happy with my experience overall.
Despite the fact that a table remained unoccupied during the entire time I was at the restaurant, I had to wait 15 minutes to be seated.
Thank you for your feedback. The table you saw empty was a reservation for a larger party that was made earlier that week. Because our patio is so popular, we reserve tables first come, first serve. The reason you waited was because we wanted to give you the table you had, so we didn't rush you out/only give you an hour to dine. In general, a typical grace period for seating is 15 minutes. We are trying our best to accommodate all guests during these hard times. We apologize for your wait time.
First time I’ve been to Nubar I was pleasantly surprised, the waitstaff was wonderful and the food was delish ! Will definitely go again
