Nuba - Kitsilano
Best falafels, always great selection of local craft beers, fabulous service and ambiance
The food at Nuba never disappoints. I have been multiple times to the Kits location, as well as the one in Gastown.
The food is consistently good, tasty, and very fresh tasting. Ambiance was very nice, good for a romantic date, a tasty bite with friends, or a family gathering. The service was very friendly, welcoming and accurate with our orders. Always a lovely experience.
I had my birthday dinner there last weekend. As usual, the food was tasty. But the area where we were seated (at back, top floor) was extremely hot. It had been a hot day. They opened the back door, but it didn't help much. The A/C unit was right next to the door but was on in use. This would have made a big difference. Perplexed as to why they wouldn't use it to make guests more comfortable. Also, it was noisy. There is a staff station just behind our table and the staff noisely banged dishes, utensils etc. down so it was hard to hear each other at times.
Lebanese cuisine is full of delicious flavors, textures and colors, so how the “La Feast” could come out so boring was a mystery. Edible but uninspired. Will not return.
Amazing food!!! We had Le Feast and it was delicious. Server was very friendly, informative and food came quickly.
Only complaint was that the hostess who sat us was very rude and immature. I booked reso on open table 2.5 weeks prior to the night. She sat us at one of the worst tables in the place. The restaurant wasn’t full yet (at least five other tables for two open) and when I asked if we could maybe be seated at another table she said no “those are reserved”. I very politely explained how I had a reservation booked for a couple of weeks and asked why certain tables were off limits to us. She rolled her eyes and said “well you should’ve called if you wanted those. You have to call, you know”. Even if those were specially requested by others, what a ridiculous way to word it! As if it were my fault that I had to sit at the crappiest table, ha, ha! We were half done our dinner before those tables even partially filled up. Ironically, I didn’t really care that much about moving but was just so shocked at how rude she was about a simple question. She needs to grow up and keep her grouchiness at home, of get another job if she hates people so much!
If it wasn’t for our friendly server and the food, I would never go back.
Great atmosphere, busy place, great service.
Excellent food. Vegan options for my wife and vegetarian or not for others. One of the few places you can dine and please everyone. Food is delicious. Beautiful presentation. Very friendly staff.
My wife and decided to go to Nuba on the advice of some Syrian friends in Nanaimo. We got a very nice table (#13) in the corner, and our table was served by Eleni, which was an absolute pleasure, as she was definitely one of the nicest, most attentive restaurant staff that we have ever encountered anywhere. She really made our evening a delight to be remembered.
Our meal included a roasted beet dip, crispy cauliflower, lamb kibbeh, tabbouleh salad, labneh ice cream, Arak and Turkish coffee. All dishes and drinks were absolutely delicious.
We can’t wait to go back.
Excellent food With lots of great vegetarian options.
Good wine and really affable staff. Just had a couple of appetizers.
Good food and good service. I had the lamb kafka. Unfortunately the portion was small and I left still feeling hungry. They could have given more salad and increased the portion of the sides of rice and potatoes. There was 4 very small pieces of potatoes, the size of a quarter and no more than 2 tablespoons of rice.
I love Nuba restaurants in general for the menu, but the Kitsilano location has a very different vibe to the downtown Vancouver ones. More laidback. A brilliant spot for tasty food and a good choice of interesting non-alcoholic drinks (plus full bar).
Food was delicious, plated well. Relatively small portions for the price, but worth it because of the flavours. A little heavy on the garlic - which is the way I like it.
The hummus was light and fluffy. Falafels were moist and soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. What everyone else says is true ... they're really good.
Ordered the chocolate quinoa cake - finally a gluten free cake that's not so dense.
I would come again for sure ...
Fantastic as always! Ordered Le Grand Feast for 4 people....so good, wayyyyy too much food! Also, the red sangria was absolutely delicious. I LOVE Nuba, everything tastes fresh and delicious.
Always a favourite... fun to go with a group of friends and share plates.
The food was very good, but the price for the large feast seemed a bit high given how much there was.
This is a lovely restaurant .Its just that the noise level is beyond reasonable! We had a reservation for 4 and were seated beside a big table of at least 20 in the back area of the restaurant with high ceiling , plaster walls and nothing as a cushion for sound.
Staff did attempt to reseat us but they were fully booked. Consequently I have now last my voice for the last 3 days from all of the shouting required to carry on a conversation . This is not my idea of a pleasant dining experience. There are restaurant critics in Toronto that test sound levels in restaurants and this would have been a big failure . I would still recommend this restaurant to someone for a lunch or week night dining perhaps but not for a weekend.
Our party of 4 received exceptional service. Food was fantastic. Would definitely return.
Lovely food, atmosphere and staff. Great treat after a day of travel.
Awesome service and incredible food, the restaurant feels super cosy but is a great size!
Excellent!; I loved the food so much. I do think the interior itself, the decor could be warmer and brighter- more colour! The washrooms need sprucing; they smell like mildew.
Loved the food fresh, interesting, table a bit cramped, drafty noisy by the kitchen doorway
Service very good. We will be back.
Lovely atmosphere, beautiful interior. Buzzing on a Saturday night! The staff were incredible, professional and kind, and made a big effort to seat our party early when we turned up even though it was our mistake for getting our times mixed up. Thanks for a wonderful evening!
The share platter was brilliant. Definitely what we were looking for. The food quality was amazing.
Service felt rushed. We hadn't even finished our starter and the main course was being served to us. Then we had an inexplicably long wait when we asked for the bill.
The food is nice. There freshly squeezed juices are fresh.
Fantastic food and ambiance! We will definitely return - thank you!
We had a lovely evening
First time to Nuba, but it won't be the last. Great atmosphere and food. Attentive service too. The only downside was that our server seemed busy, or scattered, or well programmed. Notwithstanding that the reservation stated that my wife and dining partner was Gluten Intolerant (one of the reasons we pick Nuba, was because of the many positive reports of a large GF menu), and we mentioned it to the server when we sat down; twice he brought gluten containing products to the table. Not a big deal as my wife knew she couldn't have them, and didn't have them. But it raised the question as to whether my wife's condition was relayed to the kitchen. Just a bit more training was needed in that area.
Salmon was dry. My husband's lamb was so-so. Food was not piping hot. Dessert took forever to be served. Ambiance of restaurant is great, but I would not go back.
My fiancée and I went to Nuba at Kitsilano for the very first time for our delayed valentines dinner, and this was such an amazing experience! The service was spectacular, the food was amazing, the ambiance was great, and the overall experience will keep us going back from now on.
Thank you so much for an amazing evening Nuba! You will definitely see us again!
Food need to reduce salt a bit. Interior is too cold today.
Staff were friendly and efficient. The food was very good, particularly the roasted cauliflower! I had the fish special, which was grilled salmon with a spicy rub and a lentil salad. The flavours were nicely balanced, but I would have preferred much less salt. My friend had the chicken skewers and said it was very moist and flavourful as well. There were lots of vegetarian options on the menu that I will certainly be trying in subsequent visits to Nuba.
Wish the food was more authentic
This restaurant never fails to delight! Try the vegetarian platter for 2 (it's a lot of food and really could be shared by 3).
We ordered a bunch of plates to share. Everything was delicious!
Enjoyed it very much. The waiter made some great suggestions.
Just a week ago, had a great dining experience at Nuba on Hastings. Mentioned it to a friend and we decided to go to Nuba Kits. The baba Ganesh was dismal, the pitas dry and cold, the lamb too salty and the server never in sight when needed. Shows how the same menu can be interpreted differently by different chefs.
Went here with my Son and it was great!! We did the share platter and everything on it was delicious.
We hosted a vegan business guest for a dinner. The service was excellent and the staff was very understanding of everyone's food allergies, preferences, and taboos. We were able to find enough dishes for all (or most) to share, and everything was delicious. Thank you for helping us make a good impression!
Food and service was great.
Music was awful and too loud
Washrooms were not great
