very good food and great service, would likely come again
I always pass by this restaurant and today we had the opportunity to try it out!! Amazing dishes and presentation and comfortable environment. I would visit again 😊
We bought lunch for 2 and the food was delicious,we can’t even finished the hot and sour soup and we had 4steam dumplings(2 for each person)but when I purchased lunch for 4,the portion was not very good. The soup was the same for 2person and they only gave 6dumplings for 4person. Not worth it
A bit pricy compare to other Shanghainese restaurant. Food is average but service and environment is excellent. High end decor and server is very attentive. Good place for friend gathering as they are not a very busy restaurant in Richmond area. Credit cards accepted.
Too expensive,not valuable...........................
This was our second time coming to this restaurant. We decided to order a set menu this time with duck. I was disappointed with the duck wrap course as well as the flavour and texture of the jellyfish, but other items were good. The dishes here tend to have a lot of flavour. Watch out for servers trying to take away your dishes with food still on them.
I had my birthday dinner there with family. Great food recommendations, attentive and genuine service and moderate noise level. Very good experience!
Great food and service! I'll definitely go back again.
Great food and clean environment! The soybean drink was awesome. We'll definitely go again.
Oddly for a Chinese restaurant, the food needs more saltiness.
Food was very flavourful. Pleasantly surprised by the quality of food and decor.
This place gets really busy during weekends and Friday nights. I went during a tueaday.
The owner was the one who greeted us with smiles and dish recomendations. she asked us if it was our first time here and made confident recommendations for first timers and for dishes to pick when returning back.
Very tasty food. well prepared. good service. clean environment. So many good dishes to choose from but too small of a human stomach to eat them all at once. So be sure to come back to try the other dishes. I know I will be back for sure.
Chinese restaurants are supposed to be loud and busy, so expect that. It's more fun that way.
Ambiance and decor was very nice. It has a very asian feel. The food was really lacklustre. They seemed to be more well known for their fried foods. So if you get the other dishes, they were quite salty.
Very nice food
Good food and service
Loved everything about it. Excellent Chinese food and great service.
Chinese New year
Nice food good service
My husband and I were in the Vancouver airport area (Richmond) meeting a Canadian friend for Christmas. When we're not familiar with an area, we usually go to Open Table. We originally booked for two and then increased our reservation to 3. We were all thrilled with the Nu Chinese Bistro. Visible from the street on the 2nd Floor, it was an small adventure figuring out how to the access from courtyard of the building. [Don't miss the 3 story mural.]
We were greeted by the Manager whose last name was Nu. The restaurant was filled with groups of Chinese enjoying themselves and the food [usually a good sign]. Ms Nu worked with us to select some fabulous dishes that the three of us ate family-style. We haven't had such good and authentic Chinese food outside of China. We never would have found this culinary gems without Open Table! We're glad that Nu Chinese could be found and booked that way.
The duck is good
I have to say that the service received was outstanding especially compared to other similar restaurants.Even the owner took extra time to check up on us at least 3 to 4 times. The ambiance and decor was classy and definitely upscale in the look and feel.
Food wise I'd have to say overall was pretty good but not excellent - 4 out of 5 in my books. Their biggest competitor IMHO is Shanghai River, which I think edges then out. Where Nu lost some points were some dishes was overly greasy and were smaller in portion size. I tried a sampling of some of the more popular Shanghainese dishes including XLB (excellent), beef wraps (ok), and rice cakes with pork chops (greasy but tasty).
Overall, because of the excellent service, nice ambiance and decent food, I'd come back. Oh, and like some of the other classier Chinese restaurants, they take credit card :-)
WE use OPENTABLE online sourcing to book a table for 3 people. However, the owner and the staff said to me they never or seldomly check on their iPad for table reservation from OPENTABLE. We have no idea what they meant by seldomly check the online reservation. Well. we just smiled and they said they will have a table available shortly, so we wait. after 5mins later… a group of 3people seemed like they know the owner of the restaurant and our table had been given to them as the owner said she mix up the reservation schedule… keep saying sorry, and move a round table up to the front door area which is next to a WASHROOM. we said to them thanks but no thanks, and walk away. I have no idea why is that? if people who likes to experience the same interesting & horrible scenario, please try to book online through OPENTABLE, and you will see what their responses again.
It is a good place for big party.
We went with a few friends and really enjoyed ourselves. The food was delicious and the prices super affordable. You get a lot of great-tasting food for the amount you pay. The servers were super friendly and despite the language barrier we had an amazing night I would recommend the Peking Duck it was absolutely fab! Elizabeth was very attentive to our needs and made sure that we had the best experience possible.
The restaurant said they don't know about online reservation and only take reservation by phone...
Luckily we can still get a table. but soon we know why we can.
The chef has been changed. Food is not the same as before, not authentic. Quite many things on the menu are not available...
Service is still quite OK. People are nice.
