Amazing as u always are
We did Sunday Brunch and loved it! Truly outstanding food: brioche Eggs Benedict, duck crepes and sweet crepes. Coffee made with locally roasted beans. We sat outside by the creek and enjoyed the scenery. Can't wait to go back for dinner!
Every bite of food was well prepared and delicious! The service was spot-on excellent!
Great lunch spot.
Novo is a lovely restaurant. Due to the rain, a party of 16 was seated near us downstairs. It was quite noisy, although I don't think this is necessarily typical. The service was great and the food was superb. We had a shared plate of brussels sprouts with onions which needed a little more flavor. We shared a vegetable noodle main dish and a special with mahi mahi (good) & ravioli with pesto (very tasty). Both dishes were delicious overall, but we wish we had tried a curry dish. It was plenty of food for two and we had leftovers. We also shared the apple berry crumble dessert which was delightful.
We stop into Novo whenever we want a great food that is special for vegetarians, vegans, and meat eaters. The service is excellent and the samosas and curries are amazing!
A Fabulous salmon bisque...drove two hours just for it!
Hit and miss here. I honestly don't understand the incredible hype about the place. I will say the wine list is brilliant - that's undeniable. However - the food....
Spring rolls - not original in profile, but perhaps the best shrimp spring roll I've ever had. Just wonderful.
Salmon bisque - a nice idea for sure, and mostly ok, but under seasoned and lacking acidity.
Green Thai Curry - this was the real disappointment. Bland and under seasoned. However, the real failure is the texture. This is much more akin to a Kentucky gravy in texture and lacks the cleaner profile of the brothy type green curries we experienced many times in Thailand. The balance of sweet, salty, spicy, salty, and bitter - was simply absent. It really tasted like an Americanized version of Thai. The resulting texture was muddy; the flavors unclean.
Dessert - Sheep Milk Ice Cream. This was a winner. Beautifully executed, and how great that people who have a lactose problem with Cow's milk can actually have an ice cream for real? Well done there.
Perhaps we caught them on an off night, but the final result warranted a bill for two around $35. Alas - it was $100. We paid 100% for a 35 % experience... hard to get around those numbers.
Good food. Great setting - even on a cold evening. We come here every few months. The food is consistently good to excellent. Today's choices were also in that range. (The only less-than-stellar option was the squash curry - it needed more curry flavor, but was otherwise good.) Sitting on the patio is great, even when it is a bit chilly - they have heaters and blankets. We will be back!
This was my second time at Novo for brunch. They have a good selection of both food and drink.
However, both times I have been here the food (for everyone) has come out cold or room temperature. I wish they could do a better job of keeping the food warm. We do love the patio. Dinner might be better....
the wait for our meal was so long and frustrating. After food came it was mediocre. they tried to make amends for not charging us for main dishes, which was very accommodating of them and appreciated; but would have liked a pleasant evening with better service.
Creek-Side dining in the city! It was a cold night, and we sat creekside, but the heaters kept us toasty warm. (You might want a light blanket to cover the metal seat if it's an especially chilly evening.) We enjoyed a beautiful evening celebrating our daughter's 21st birthday. We had one order of the ahi nachos. They were quite tasty if a bit too much (mayo?) sauce. The ahi was fresh. The order is quite large and plenty for an entree, or a shared appetizer. We had one of the specials of the day which was a swordfish on some sort of grain cake with sauce. It was beautifully plated and tasted great. Finally, the gentleman in our party had the lamb chops. One of them was prepared perfectly. The rest of the plate was delicious.
We enjoyed the unique good food and charming ambiance of Novo. We ate outside on a chilly evening, but were kept plenty warm by heaters and blankets that were offered to us. The view was very nice, and the service was excellent.
We traveled to SLO for a getaway
Novo was recommended.
We absolutely loved it !!
Wonderful flavors !!
Hope to come back
Had brunch there. Frankly the hash was terrible. Served in a bowl with gravy. Egg yokes disappeared recognizably into the gravy. Waffle not great either. Huevos Ranchros was ok as long as you like chipotle. But, everything else was nice. Worth a second try.
I dined at Novo with my teenage daughter and the outdoor dining area (right above the creek) was really lovely. We had a huge tree right next to our table and lots of heat lamps and decorative lights, a very lovely ambiance. The food was very good and portions generous. The service was excellent, very friendly and professional. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for a romantic evening, but also for dinner with friends or family.
Spent 12 - 16 hours on a toilet after the meal. Did not feel good entire next day. :( came for late valentines dinner.
Valentine’s Day specials were excellent esp the Brie in puff pastry
Lovely atmosphere and great food and service
We were seated in our favorite area right on the creek. It's so romantic! The heaters are warm and I like to ask for a blanket for my legs.
The waiter was spot on with everything and the food was perfect . So with the sound of the creek, great food and drink, twinkling lights, and roses on the table makes it my favorite date spot! I find the menu has something for everyone. I had the duck breast which was cooked perfectly over forbidden rice. A+
This restaurant is crazy busy. We had reservations and were seated outside. The ambiance was wonderful with the creek alongside and the twinkle lights. There are many heaters so you are comfortable on those chilly evenings. Our server was Amber, she was very efficient, bubbly and attentive. We could not have had better service. Staff all seem to work together clearing dishes, bringing out orders etc. As to the food, it was mediocre; not memorable but not unpalatable. We shared the spring rolls, very tasty and a good portion for each of the four of us. As to the entrees: 2 of us had the pork sopes. There was a lot of escabeche, too much for the amount of pork and tortilla. It was so so. Another had the lamb, a generous portion of 6 ribs. Unfortunately only one set of 2 ribs was cooked appropriately, the other 4 were almost raw. Odd that they varied in doneness. The fourth dish was scallops; our friend really enjoyed the dish. We did not have dessert. We would go back when in town, maybe try other dishes.
This restaurant is superb....the setting, service, and food are all wonderful. My husband and I have eaten both lunch and dinner there and recommend it for either. At night it is so romantic, and during the day the ambience is equally attractive. Just love it!
Novo is a favorite creekside setting with terrific food. The portions have gotten a bit smaller but still yummy!
We had a 1 pm reservation and had to wait 10 minutes as thet seated wIist parties. I was
A bit miffed by that! Tessa was very attentive. A lovy place!
My fiancee and I were celebrating our 5 year anniversary at Novo restaurant. It was a perfect setting for our occasion. Beautiful outdoor space looking over the creek. The service was amazing. They are very quick to serve you and get you anything you need. Food is delicious. Price is reasonable being that it's a fancy place. For two it was less than $80. Definitely recommend this restaurant to those celerating something special.
Novo is on our "must" list for visitors to SLO. (And we enjoy it each and every time too!)
We love to dine here outside on the patio. Great food and atmosphere.
The lettuce wraps were Bib lettuce not iceberg, thank you, with prawn that looked and tasted more like shrimp in a light, flavorful bean sauce. These were complimented with sweet-hot chile jelly and serrano syrup on the side. Two wraps each for two people. Wonderful with a cucumber and lime martini. The duck breast was perfectly roasted but the curry a touch salty. The black, forbidden rice added delicious texture. The moroccan fried chicken was succulent and so perfectly seasoned I savored every bite. The fresh chutney was complex and the ingredients artfully combined with just the right amount of gooeyness. The quinoa pilaf was excellent! The spicy yogurt an unexpected delight. A sweet but not cloying port, ROXO 2007, to die for al fini!
On vacation; went here based on strong Review. My expectations were exceeded! Outstanding appetizers; my halibut was also divine. Great service by the wait staff. My wife and I will come here again!
We enjoy bringing our out of town visitors here to enjoy the variety of flavorful dishes, the beautiful patio and the kind service.
Thrilled to be able to enjoy such a great lunch while sitting in there outdoor patio! Lovely location that feels as if you escaped from the hustle and bustle of life!
Everything was just right: Service, Food and the seating. Make sure you get a table in the backyard garden.
Although it was very very busy (make sure you have a Reservation) there was no waiting time, except on arrival when we had to wait 10 minutes even with Reservation.
Great ambiance - great table position and good food and service. What else could you want?
All you need to know is that a visit to Novo is always a winning time!
Thank you for a wonderful experience! We made lunch reservations for our daughter's 21st birthday on July 6th at 11:30. I was able to request a table on the patio, which was awesome. When we arrived, a table was already set with a tablecloth in a nice shady corner. We had the best server. Wish I could remember her name, but she was friendly, knowledgeable, really on top of it, and made the experience that much better. We will definitely be coming back!
I had a local-caught sea bass special that may have been the best meal I have ever eaten. The fish was great, but the wide variety of various veggies that came with it may have been even better. The subtle variety of favors was outstanding. I live within walking distance so I feel extra lucky.
Lovely place for lunch. Had a very nice table on the deck overlooking the creek. Just had a few appetizer plates and the food was fresh and tasty and nicely presented. Would definitely recommend.
Novo was recommended to me by a friend who had also visited the area. We had a reservation for Sunday Brunch. Seating was fast, and the table was perfect.....right on the creek. The food was very good. Only problem was they had my husbands order wrong and by the time he received the correct order, the other three of us were finished eating. We felt really bad for him since he was picking up the bill. It kind of put a damper on our time there.
creek-side dining is lovely. an unusual setting for California's climate.
We had a great seating overlooking the stream. We made a 5 pm reservation because later all booked up. Service and food was great, so was the giant margarita! Great date place.
Everything was perfect, food, service and the location. Our waitress was so good and very friendly, she made us feel very welcome.
Will go back again and would recommend highly.
