Novo Pizzeria & Wine Bar Ratings and Reviews
Great spot for "after the show" pizza & wine. The place buzzes and the energy is high so an intimate conversation? maybe not, unless you can get a corner booth. I'd go back in a New York minute as the menu has enough variety to cover many visits without repeating an order.
My friend and I are semi-regular seniors who often dine before or after a movie. This time we noted the menu has been pared down in number of items but some of our favourites were still there but NOT Creme Brûlée (so sad!). Food was still good and served hot. It was quiet when we were there on a Thursday night which was unusual so energy of the place seemed muted. Still good place to go before or after a movie.
Food definitely a cut above. Creative, with high quality ingredients. The caprese salad came with very dark, tiny, caviar looking berries on top of the fresh mozzarella. We were advised that they were pearls of balsamic, which take 12 hours to make, and are made in-house. They tasted wonderful, and made for a stunning presentation.
2nd visit (1st visit was New Yr's Eve and how convenient is that to eat right beside the movie theatre) we ordered an antipasta and 6 pizzas and it occurred to me that the ingredients in the antipasta was also used in the pizzas which is redundant. So next time instead of the antipasta will choose salads instead. Coffee never came. So we asked to cancel the coffee order as we had a show to attend.
Novo is an excellent little Italian restaurant with a great pasta and pizza menu. The service is wonderful, with all staff very attentive to customer needs. While there are no large protein dishes, the salads, pastas, and pizzas are high quality with wonderful flavor and very filling. The ambience is very relaxing and reminiscent of Italy, with a wonderful feature wine wall.
I highly recommend it for casual dining on 4 star food.
The Caesar salad was good, though it could have used more than one tiny piece of pancetta to share. And the capricciosa pizza, which mysteriously lacked the promised olives, mushrooms and artichokes, turned out (when I checked the menu later) to be prosciutto and arugula. It was good anyway, and next time we'll try to pay more attention when the pizza arrives at the table.
Perfect spot for dinner before movie next door at Fifth Avenue. Service was a little slow considering the early hour (5:15 PM) but friendly. We let our server know we had to be out for a show and we made it on time. Good appetizer to share was the burrata. Funghi pasta was delicious.
This out "go to" pizza place. Regrettably our favourite waiter (Jonathan) is no longer there but the pizza is still the best. Crust is perfectly Neapolitan (thin). Draft Peroni. Excellent rustic salad, really good pesto. Antipasti platter no longer on the menu but they made one for the four of us. Worth every penny. Negroni's are amazing! Music a touch too loud for us.
My fiancé and I ordered the pizza which was amazing and our friend had the pasta which he said was devine. We had a movie to get to so were on a time crunch which they were able to facilitate without any issues. We'll be going back again soon to try the pastas ourselves!
It was our first time and it definitely will not be our last! The food was so fresh and delicious and the quality of ingredients was top notch. Our server (can't remember his name, sorry) was great! He gave us the perfect amount of privacy and really was friendly and professional. Everyone at the restaurant was very friendly and I noticed how clean and beautiful the space was. I would for sure recommend this restaurant to any of my friends, colleagues or family and we are already planning our next dinner back to have some of the amazing "pasta fatta en casa". I really enjoyed the grappa moscato and the beer/wine list was great too! I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had such a great patio that was secluded and had a nice breeze. Overall I am very happy with our experience and the food.
We had a lousy pizza...not even close to the pizza under the previous owner of this restaurant. The only reason to eat here is because it's next to the cinema so we can eat and see the film without having to move the car. The server was very cordial, the beer came first followed way too closely by the pizza.
The beet salad was amazing! The pizza ... was mediocre at best. The middle of the crust was soggy but the tiramisu was delicious!!
We also ordered a bottle of the feature wine. It was okay.
The service was great until we wanted our bill and then the server kind of disappeared. I don't think it was his fault as they seemed quite busy but you'd think they'd want to clear the table.
I wasn't blown away but it was decent. I'd go back ... one day.
