Novilhos Brazilian SteakHouse - Bellevue
The Brazilian "Churrasco" has been a tradition for generations in Southern Brazil, where Gauchos (Brazilian Cowboys) pierced large pieces of meat and slowly grilled them over open flamed pits.
With a fixed price and this unique style of barbecue, Novilhos features continuous service of sixteen selections of beef, chicken, pork, lamb and sausage, all slowly spin-roasted, preserving their natural flavors and textures.
When perfectly grilled, these delectable cuts are brought to you directly from the grill and expertly served by our carvers, dressed in Gaucho attire.
Novilhos' unique concept also offers an elaborated and sumptuous salad buffet with a variety of fresh cut vegetables, gourmet salads and side dishes, along with imported cheeses, cold cuts and other tasty seasonal items.
Our waitress was great, but we were a little disappointed with the amount of meat that came around. We upgraded from the monthly special to the regular cost in order to have access to nicer cuts of meat and only got then twice... The second time after requesting filet repeatedly and waiting over 20 minutes. I'm not sure if I will be back considering that with tip it was over $250 and most of the meat we were able to have for dinner was chicken and sausages.
WARNING: Groupon is not valid until >24 hours from date purchased. This is buried in the fine-print, and the staff are unwilling to compromise. We found that out months ago, and recently decided to return to use our Groupon before it expired. Online promotional pricing said January was $41.50 per dinner instead of typical $59.99; and we had already paid $30 for the Groupon ($60 value). We made reservations for two adults and dropped by. Staff wouldn't honor both, claimed that was "combining offers" and that we didn't mention the online pricing when we made the online reservation. Groupon isn't an offer, it's pre-paid service (basically a small loan). Again, it's all about the fine print. So instead of $53 ($83 Promotional Pricing - 60 Groupon value +30 Groupon cost), we paid $90 (120 Regular Pricing - 60 Groupon value + 30 Groupon cost). Using the Groupon was actually $7 more than their unavailable Promotional Pricing! We also received the worst service on our recent visit, and staff rarely came by with the meat (we only had about 6oz of protein each). Servers know something is up and get cagey AF when you ask questions about the pricing, you'll never win. Next time we'll just buy 2 nice steaks and cook them at home using Gordon Ramsay's 'How To Cook A Steak' YouTube video. Message to owner: Your borderline fraudulent promotional pricing looks like an attempt at price discrimination, but fundamentally it just lowers the perceived value. Definitely never worth $60/dinner. We'll never return.
I arrived with my friends at Novilhos Bellevue for our reservation at 7pm but had to wait around an hour until we were seated. The reason why we wanted to try this place was because we saw the special for $41.50 per person but was informed by the waiter we wouldn't experience the full cuisine. Instead of having the chance to try all 15 meats, we would be limited to only 11 meats. So we decided to just pay the full price and experience the whole menu. We regretted that move because it seems like the same 9 meats were offered to us throughout our dinner and there would be intervals of 10 to 15 minutes that no one would come to our table to offer meat. So we were disappointed of that and wished we stick to the special offer price. Overall the meats tasted great and enjoyed the side bar.
What a great family dinner. Excellent food and excellent service.
Atmosphere was awesome. Staff was quick and friendly. The food, oh my, the food was amazing!!! My favorite was between the parmesan pork and the house special, and it just kept coming and coming.
Food was great, wait staff was great, however the guys serving the meat served the three same chicken and house special steak and sausage over and over again. Our waitress had to request servers with other meats to come over later on in the meal.
The waitress was amazing and the food was outstanding
Server broke the wine cork in a very expensive bottle of wine and did not offer to replace it. She brought hot food before we were ready for it. So it sat and got cold. She rushed us by asking more than once if we wanted more service, told us the salad bar was closing even though other tables were continuing to get food from it, she overcharged us but had already left so we had to find someone else to correct her error.
Birthday , no recognition.
Meat guys were good.
Personal service was lacking a bit.
Salad and food was great.
Over priced. Would have used Groupon if had known it could be used on a holiday
Great food n outstanding service....
Awesome atmosphere! The food was fantastic. I would highly recommend this place.
I have been now to 2 different Brazilian Steak houses in the area. This one was the far better between the two.
I can recommend this place to others, as a different kind of dining experience to try, and see if you like the experience of it.
For me the salad/side-dish bar was outstanding! The meat items at table-side were mostly good. I am not a HUGE carnivore, of course I eat meat, but it’s actually not the focus of a dinner like this to me.
My only reason for the 3 star review is that I find the whole thing with servers coming and going to your table, as VERY distracting. It’s a constant interruption to the dinner conversation, etc. yes, I can turn my meat button to red, to stop flow, but still, it is a very busy awkward environment. Everybody from servers to patrons are constantly up and down. Also, just as you yourself are up and down to salad bar, getting new plates, etc. this is just WAY TOO busy of an environment to me. Our dinner conversations were broken up by not only the meat servers, but each of our own multi trips to salad bar.
That being said... the foods on the salad bar were OUTSTANDING! The ceviche was amazing.
Fun place for kind of a novelty/special occasion, but not for me.
The only complaint I have is they give Open table customers crappy tables section. Found that out from a server. Cause every time we made reservations from Open table we always get that corner table by the server area or the dark corner by the ramp walkway. So I won’t use open table if I’m going there.
Had their lunch, which is about 1/2 price of the dinner, with many meat and side choices available (it might be the same as what is offered at dinner, but certainly all of the main ones are offered at lunch). The gauchos come by often, so you are always sure to have something on your plate. The salad bar is excellent - I've been here a couple of times, and while my goal has been to stay light on the salad, the offerings there are so good that it can be difficult. Overall, an excellent meal!
Had our annual girls Christmas dinner here. It seems a tad overpriced but the food was good. Way too much for all of us to try all the meat options. We had a reservation at 5, right when they opened. I arrived about 5 minutes early (the bar is open then) and sat in the waiting area. The hostess was not very friendly, didn't give off a welcoming vibe. The service staff were awesome. Overall a fun experience. Would recommend for a special occasion due to the expense, even with the Groupon it was $75 per person.
Great "Churrasco" experience, service and ambient excellent. Thank you.
The waiting area was a cluster no organization. Ordered drinks took over 1/2 hr. My dad ordered a BV w/coke and they brought him some type of beer in a wine glass because the bartender and waitress had no idea. That was 45min. Not ever did anyone offer more drinks. Some of the steaks were really fatty. The menu on the salad bar changed for the worse. I was constantly spitting out my food. Deserts came around I asked for the Cream Brulee waitress said not sure if they had the torch to burn the sugar. A waiter came over and said they were just out of it. So she lied. This was my son's 28th Birthday he flew up from the Navy in Ca for the holidays. No nothing from the wait staff. I truly cant believe that this was a horrible experience. Save your money and go elsewhere
We've been to this location several times. Service was very poor this time and we will not be back. Meat servers ignored some at the table. had to wait and flag them down at times. really bad night.
I had my first visit to a Brazilian steakhouse and it was awesome!!
The waitstaff are friendly, knowledgeable able very polite!!
The food was amazing!!
The salad bar is hard to resist.... but moderate is must to save room for the delicious meats they bring to you and slice at your table.
Awesome sassy lemonade drink tooooo.
And they offer dessert.... I nibbled in a generous slice of delicate raspberry cheesecake and took some home for later ;)
The place has really gone down hill since we were the a year ago. The meat was VERY slow coming around. When it did it was not what we are used to getting.
Great service, friendly staff, amazing food. Highly recommend!
Unlike any other restaurant that I have experienced. Different freshly prepared meats are continually brought to the table and carved per your desires. The meats were cooked perfectly. The best pork I have ever had. I did not have the red meat myself, but my husband was very pleased with the flavor and preparation. If you go once, you will go again.
We went on Thanksgiving. I know that this place is closing in January. But, it seems like they were already ready to close the doors. The meat choices were small, they didn’t come by regularly at all, sometime more than 20 minutes for a meat service. The only lettuce on the salad bar was romaine. I guess they hadn’t gotten the memo or maybe it’s all marked safe now? Who knows. We have been here many many times and have had a great experience. I think they’ve just given up at this point.
Everyone should try Novilhos once. But that's about it. Not a place to go regularly.
It was mostly fine, we would go ignored for some time and some servers would be skipping members of our party but not too often
A little pricey for everyday dining, but for a special occasion it’s hard to beat (especially on the Eastside).
We've been to Novilhos on a number of occasions, but we decided to go after receiving an email about their fall dinner special for $38.50. It was a bit misleading, however, because the email did not say anything about there being any restrictions on the menu. When we were seated by the hostess, she called our name but did not greet us or engage in any banter with us. No "how are you today" or "welcome to Novilhos." Nothing. We just followed her, and she just seated us. When our server introduced himself, he asked if we were there for the fall dinner special. We said yes. It was at that point that he told us that the fall dinner special did NOT include items like filet mignon or rib eye. Did we still want the fall dinner special or did we want to upgrade to the unlimited menu? We opted for the fall dinner special. The funny thing was we STILL were served filet mignon so it's a good thing we didn't opt for the upgrade because it would have come with the upgraded, regular price!
My first introduction to brazilian style restaurant and did I luck out. The salad bar had dozens of different items, all the "normal" suspects as well as ones in keeping with the restaurant such as chimichurri sauce. Everything was fresh and delicious. Then they started bringing the meats to the table. I ended up with trying 6 different meats/preparations with one seconds of something I think they called bottom sirloin. The garlic steak was a really close second but alas just no more room (sigh). The only thing better than the meats was the service. It was great, in fact probably some of the best I have had.
The food was good the price was high. I was shocked to find no supplies in the bathroom (TP, paper towels, soap) and the lady wasn't too concerned to get it stocked.
The service by the server was just ok but the It wasn’t easy to get his attention and
I absolutely love eating here. It’s always a lovely experience.
It was a great experience for Seattle restaurant week. Will try again next year
Had a reservation, everyone else with later reservations got seated before we did. Then it got late and became last call for food. It was unfortunate. Whatever food I did get to try was good though.
Came here for restaurant week, so didn't get to experience the full array of meats but I enjoyed everything I try! Meat was fantastically cooked, and was brought around pretty frequently. I would definitely recommend this, and am planning on coming back to try the regular menu.
Overpriced for what you get compared to other Brazilian steakhouse in Seattle.
Not the best....... Not enough meat choices and no seafood offered. Buffet was great....but also not handy for wheelchairs or walkers.
Having such a limited selection for restaurant week was not a good deal. They were advertising another deal in November-December for $3 more that had significantly more selection.
Salad bar is wonderful and constantly refreshed. Disappointed with meat service - long wait between different cuts of meat. It wasn’t too busy so that wasn’t the issue.
